SharkTums Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 ^Tokyo Disney would never have a wait time that bad!
BBparks57 Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Much along the lines of said comment earlier in this thread... When I was younger and did not understand that lines got shorter I would often wait far to long for rides. I feel like I'm at an AA meeting....my Name is Brian Bass...and I once waited a little over 4 hours for Soarin (I know, I know). I have never waited that long for anything else...and for a roller coaster I'm not sure I'd wait much longer. Â I went skydiving for the first time the other day and did how ever end up waiting, after it was all said and done, roughly 5 hours. Now a lot of the wait was getting prepped and all of that. It was totally worth it.
STR8FXXXINEDGE Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Here's a funny one for you... Â I waited in line for 4.5 hours to ride Millennium Force when it first opened. In the rain. Then I didn't even get to ride the damn thing. Ouch! I went back the next day and waited another 3.5 hours. This time, I actually got to ride it. Â Like a few others have said; the only way I'd wait in a line that long again, is if I was somewhere far, far away and I knew I wouldn't be back for a LONG time.
Swimace Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I'd wait that long for a ride if it was omfg amazing and I had never gotten on it/ was unlikely to return. I think Divv and I sat and waited at Tobu Zoo for probably 4-5 hours with all of the rides closed due to weather. Â I also waited 3.5 hours for Spiderman opening year.
DCody Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I tend to balk at any line over 90 minutes, even if it's something I REALLY want to ride. I can't imagine anything that I'd wait five hours for. That said, I recently waited to ride Peter Pan's Flight in a frigging MONSOON, with my baby who was getting equally soaked, because it was the one DL ride I'd never been on and I was hellbent on finally riding. We got so wet that we had to leave the park inmediately after riding-- and it was 10 am! I guess what I'm saying is that if I was feeling stubborn enough, I might wait a totally unreasonable amount of time for a certain hard-to-get credit.
chadster Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 The longest I have waited for a credit was NTAG, opening day when it just so happened that Big Mike came out. The initial wait for me (BigM was not even on the ground yet) due to poor operations and a ride that didn't start testing until 30 minutes AFTER park opening (ok, its a new ride, but shouldn't they have completed their pre-flight testing say, oh a few hours BEFORE park opening?!?! It's not like it hadn't already been carrying passengers) was 2:30. Big Mike arrives with guests, we get back in line, the wait was around 2:15, get back in line for night ride, wait was about 1:45. I vowed to NEVER do that again...at the time. (Note: I made an exception for Dollywood....and maybe SFGAm) Â Bottom line, if I am with people who want to ride X ride who have not been to X park, then I will wait with them. If it is me, myself, and I, and I have been there and done that, I keep on walking. Â I would not wait 300 minutes for Soarin', Test Track, or Space Mountain. I would wait that long for the Beaner Boat ride tho, just sayin'.
Mr. Starr Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Definitely depends on who I'm waiting with. I would never wait that long by myself, I'd rather have some people to talk to for five hours! As for the ride, it would have to be pretty new/rare for me to wait that long, or like most people have said if you only have limited time in the park.
SharkTums Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 (edited) That said, I recently waited to ride Peter Pan's Flight in a frigging MONSOON, with my baby who was getting equally soaked, because it was the one DL ride I'd never been on and I was hellbent on finally riding. Â Just wait, it gets worse. The terrible things we do for our children (but are usually for us). Edited December 31, 2011 by SharkTums
Nrthwnd Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 The memorable 2007 visit to Fuji-Q Highland Park. Â The total waiting time for three coasters ridden was just around 6 hours. Our leaving time from the park, was actually extended an hour (though good to the Alveys' word - it was decided in the group, thru texts etc.) later, so most of us could get this last listed coaster in, and counted. Â First it was only a 20 minutes wait for Fujiyama. Â And then, we clocked waiting time for Dodopna at around near ... two hours? Eep. Â So - that meant a maximum (I guessed) of 3 hours + several minutes. For Eejanaika. Â Â That's more than enough for me, even for a rare credit.
cfc Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 That said, I recently waited to ride Peter Pan's Flight in a frigging MONSOON, with my baby who was getting equally soaked, because it was the one DL ride I'd never been on and I was hellbent on finally riding. Â Just wait, it gets worse. The terrible things we do for our children (but are usually for us). Â Peter Pan always has the most horrendous line in Fantasyland. The ride is fun, and I like it, but, oh lord, that capacity . . .
Ace Of Spades Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Five hours for a ride? Hellllll no. Â ...unless it somehow managed to combine Top Gear, Maverick, RC Cola, the Bugatti Veyron, the country of Portugal, and a bag of Cadbury eggs. Then I might be persuaded.
Carnage Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Maybe if it was a brand new ride at a local park, and I had nothing else to do. Â But that's a big maybe. I plan my trips specifically not to have to wait 5 hours for anything.
FeelTheFORCE Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 (edited) If I ever went to Dubai then maybe, MAYBE I'd wait that long to ride Formula Rossa. That is, if I knew it wasn't going to break down. Knowing I probably would never visit there more than once, I wouldn't want to miss my opportunity. Â Other than that, it would probably be the current tallest and/or fastest coaster at the time. Edited January 1, 2012 by FeelTheFORCE
Invertalon Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 No ride. Â Hell, two hours is about my limit really. I am by far a credit whore though... I have been to many parks where I skip rides because they are not worth my time. I only ride the ones I want, care less about the ones I don't! Â But yeah, two hours is about it. I prefer to keep it under about an hour though.
Kyle Coleman Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 It would have to be for something truely unique and great and at a park I know I may never see again. Maybe balder or expedition g force since I would probably only be going to europe that one time.
Team Thriller Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 The longest I've ever waited was about 2 and a half hours for X. (This was back in 06' I believe) Â However pretty much everything else was a station wait so I didn't mind much. Â I don't think there is any ride I'd wait that long for. What a waste of time were you could be riding other stuff. Â --James
1pizza14 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 The longest wait I have encountered was about 4 hours for Harry Potter And The Forbidden Journey. However since the WWOHP was full they gave us a return time for 2 hours later. Technically it was 4 but actually queuing was only 2. Still thats pretty long. Â 5 hours is a VERY long time to wait for a ride. I can really only see myself doing this if a ride is so crazy awesome and unique or will be closing forever and its the last of its kind.
GeorgeT Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Expedition GeForce on a warm summer night...or at least in the late afternoon....front or last row...oooooh yessss !  I think MANY coaster enthusiasts would wait that long if they knew how that coaster delivers sometimes  And Blue Fire at night FIRST ROW too...but that`s only me being foolish
jedimaster1227 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I once waited five hours to ride Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit (for the first time). Now, I prefer not to wait more than five minutes for that ride. Â But in all seriousness, I've waited in insane lines for X2, Sheikra, Cheetah Hunt and Son of Beast, but aside from Rockit, I've never waited more than two hours for any ride. Â That being said, I would wait five hours if it meant I could ride Tokyo DisneySea's Journey to the Center of the Earth or Tower of Terror again.
australianalex Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 5 hours, no way. Thats pretty much your whole day gone. If the park is having extended hours, you may get lucky and have a second ride. The absolute max I would wait is an hour or so.
redmenace8 Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 Hmmm, I was with a group of friends and others who absolutely wanted to ride X no matter what. We ended up waiting over 4 very painful hours. That wait took away from that ride as well as the rest of the, by then, night at SFMM. Though I did learn a great deal about the people I was with, fortunately, as most of them are no longer around me. I would never do that again for a ride in a local park. Of course, what is local and common to me in L.A. is unique and exciting for someone from another country and might be a must do. Â If I was elsewhere in the States or abroad, and I thought it might be my only real chance to ride a great unique ride or experience a one of a kind attraction, then I would feel I would have to wait. I'm not going to travel 8 thousand miles and not do the thing I most want to do. Â If I knew I was going to a place that will likely be crowded, I would do everything I could to limit my wait time, since, there are almost always ways around long waits. (TPR Trip anyone?) If I couldn't afford what it took, on my own, then I probably wouldn't want to go until I could afford what it took in order to maximize my experience.
rcdude Posted January 1, 2012 Posted January 1, 2012 I don't mind waiting in lines, but it is very rare that I encounter something longer than an hour. I think my longest wait was probably 3.5 hours for X in 2003 (one train and breakdowns), and I would not do that again. Even my favorite coaster, Bizarro, would not merit a five hour wait, and I would probably not wait more than two for it or any other ride. The one exception would be if it was a notable ride that I had never been on and knew I would likely never get another chance (for example, if New Texas Giant was closing after 2012 and I could get to SFOT, I'd wait five hours to ride it since I've never done it and it is reportedly one of the top ten steel coasters in the USA). Otherwise, it is just too great of a percentage of your day (I don't feel many rides are worth more than a 10% investment, even if you've never done it). Â Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever waited five hours for anything. The closest would probably be 4.5 hours for the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 midnight showing.
