Theme Park Review in JAPAN! 2011

That line at Krispy Kreme is insane! Plase tell me you didn't wait in it?!

Awesome report though, I simply can't wrap my head around Japan. It's like a crazy fantasy land country some six year old thought up after eating a few pot brownies. I'd love to make it there some time.

I wish I could get a free donut for waiting in line for my local Krispy Kreme. This just doesn't seem fair, though the 35 minute wait is a bit extreme. Anyways, this jealous boy is jealous. Hope you are all enjoying your trip and can't wait to hear more about it.

I will make it on the next one of these, oh yes, I will...

Today we got really lucky. It was supposed to rain all day (at least that's what the forecast showed), and we worried we might have had a rain out park or two...but luck was on our side and both parks opened, and so did all the coasters! We even got in the first woodie of the trip. Read on....

TPR's day starts out again with more bad A$$ bullet trains!

TPR bullet train take-over!

"The contents of my bento box are looking back at me!"

Motoman scares the crap out of me!

This dude will take us to some roller coasters!!!

After a short bus ride we arrive at Kijima.

First coaster of the day... Gold Rush! And our first POV video of the day!

YAY! ERT on the mine train!

Good luck everyone!

Next we had credit whore ERT on the Roller Skater!

Big Mike's cutest fan!

If you think this is sad and pathetic...

...next we had ERT on the powered Dragon Wagon!!!

At least KidTums got another pseudo credit!

"This is a really strange place for a urinal..."

"Get me off the spinning ride!!!"

Next up was Jupiter. One of very few wooden coasters in Japan.

The first woodie of the trip!!! And the first woodie POV of the trip!

The 'pre-lift' part is actually really awesome!

TPR conquers our first Japanese Woodie!!!

Jupiter is a very impressive looking ride!

I see a Japanese helix!

I see some happy rides and some screams of pain!

I really just is a MASSIVE ride!

Sure...why not...if you insist!

Thank you Kijima for getting the ride open for us!

"I'm Lego Godzilla...and I'm taking a mean poop!"

The Shooting Pirates dark ride was new!

Hanno goes in John Woo style!

BOOB CREDIT!!!

It wouldn't be a Japanese park without an awesome arcade!

Pachinko, anyone?

Hmm...I know I've seen these characters in an old video game somewhere... If you know which game...

TPR's favourite activity after riding coasters...LUNCH!

This was the most awesome little play area for kids. USA parks...why can't US parks have something like this?

It's one thing to be sad and pathetic, it's another thing to do it on your own!

TPR members on the Intamin drop tower.

"OM! NOM NOM! I'm eating these people.. OM! NOM NOM!"

Kijima has one of the most amazing back drops of any park in the world!

Maybe next time KidTums can get the credit...

This is a "Dan Approved" water ride!

SKLOOSH!!!!

That ride was AWESOME!!! Watch this VIDEO to prove it!

Just a few Jupiter stats for the real geeks...

The maintenance crew really look like that!

We got very lucky with Jupiter today! Rain was threatening to shut it down, but the park got it open for us!

Hey! Who's umbrella is that??? And who is that holding it for ransom???

Next up was Wonder Rakutenchi!

Everyone pile into the cat themed train.

Another TPR takeover!

You have to take this amazing inclined railway to get to the top where the park is located. It's actually quite a thrilling ride!

This has to be one of the most unique ferris wheels in the world!

The park had been recently renovated and looks GREAT!!! Much improved from out previous visits.

TPR takes over the Jet Coaster!Jet Coaster POV!!!

I spot Big Mike!

Another park with a fantastic setting.

"What are you looking at?"

If the male is a peaCOCK...what do they call the female??? If you know...

They have fresh Yakitori here!

You can get VERY close to the penguins!

KidTums got to hold a baby duckling!

We call this "Goat on a Leash!"

Feeding carrots to all the bunnies!

More bunnies...more carrots!

"ROBB!!! DO NOT EAT THE TORTOISE!!' YOU CANNOT DIGEST THE SHELL!!!"

Guess what? Animal butt.

Wonder Rakutenchi is also famous for their duck races!!!

KidTums has placed a bet on the pink one.

Getting the ducks rounded up and ready to race...

And they're off!!!DUCK RACE POV!!! (ok, well maybe not quite POV...)

The parks suspension bridge is another terrifying, but awesome attraction.

If you're scared of heights, it goes on for what seems like forever!

The bridge gives you an AMAZING view of the park!

And an even more amazing view of Beppu.

KidTums is still a frog hopper enthusiast!

Hey look! Mommy peed her pants!!

Mountain Dew...GRAPE???

Riding roller coasters, relaxing, and having a beer. This is what a TPR trip is all about!

There is actually a "culture credit" at this park!

This is actually a real temple...

Fear me!

I'm told the park employees will pray here in the morning before work.

The view from the park really is just incredible!

It was time to head back down the kitty funicular and say our goodbyes to Wonder Rakutenchi.

More bad A$$ bullet trains take us back to the hotel.

Another TPR take-over!

Automatic toilet seats... Only in Japan!

We decided to end our stay in Fukuoka at the best Yakitori place I've ever been to.

OMG! So amazing!!!

OM! NOM NOM! BACON WRAPPED CHEESE!!!!

To get to this place, head out of the Hakata JR Train station towards the Hakata Miyako hotel. Make an immediate right out of the train station. It's downstairs and shown here! Go to this place! You will NOT be disappointed!!!

More Japan coming soon. But for now... POST YOUR COMMENTS!!!

"This was the most awesome little play area for kids. USA parks...why can't US parks have something like this?" Robb

I'll tell you why...cause it takes up space for what could be used for more roller coasters! More coasters, more coasters, more coasters! Don't you know? Every US park needs to be like CP or SFMM now!

Great report, guys. You're having the same wonderful time I'm hoping to have next month on my trip.

Does the Slot Machine actually take money? Because gambling for money is illegal in Japan.

Great Photos, Robb!

When I was in Japan in 06 we gambled playing Pachinko and won money. The machine did not pay off in money but we got trays and trays of little silver balls. The trays were turned in for prizes. The prizes were long plastic cases that were different colors. We assumed they were different values. There were other trinkets and cheap toys that could be selected but they looked like no one had selected them in 10 years. We then took the prizes outside the establishment, went down the street, around the corner and down an alley. There was a little pass through window with a guy on the other side. We gave him the prizes and he gave us back money. We had read before hand how this all worked so it wasn't a big surprise. It was just very interesting.

I assume a slot machine would work in the same way but pay out in tickets.

I thought that you were going to do this trip as usual in September...

Still really jealous of all you guys having a blast in Japan, shame though that you managed to go during the rainy season (mid June-mid July) though, I just hope that you don't have to worry too much about rain...

Wow! That sounds so naughty! I never would have imagined something like that going on in Japan. Sounds more Atlantic City to me.

What? No 1080p POVs today? Even after you did 4 of them yesterday? I'm kinda dissapointed at that, if only for a POV of Jupiter. Was that ride really rough? It didn't sound it from the way you labeled the captions.

If you are trying to be sarcastic, you are absolutely horrible at it!!!!
