Walibi Holland Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I'm slightly bummed that this isn't going to be a spinner after all, but I'm more excited that MACK has a four-seater design now! Facebook post from MACK reveals that this type is called BigDipper: "The first pictures of our BigDipper car are here! Extremely sharp turns, massive airtime and floorless outer seats with our comfortable lap bars will let you enjoy Lost Gravity!"

It's interesting to think that B&M dominated for so long with their four-across seating, and now Intamin, Gerstlauer, MACK and even Vekoma have their variants. Sign me up for a wing seat anytime!

I think the effect of the extreme angle of the first drop and the top hat turn thingy would have been lost it the train was spinning.

This. I am more excited for this coaster now that I know it won't be a spinner. I think a spinner would have ruined the layout. But that is just my opinion, of course.

I think I'm happy it's not a spinner, and it's hard to explain why, but I think the effect of the extreme angle of the first drop and the top hat turn thingy would have been lost it the train was spinning.

I wonder if someone would consider a combination of fixed cars and spinners on a track like this. Two coasters in one.

New trains are here, and it looks good! It is a wing coaster like Intamin's, how did they get away with that?

If you look at the previous posts, this picture has already been posted like three times.

But on another note, these trains are like really short, so they're more like a wing-infinity coaster.

In my personal opinion this is NOT a wingcoaster. Mack and Walibi can say whatever they want, it doesn't mean it is a real wing coaster. A wingcoaster is a B&M Wingcoaster or a the Intamin Wing Rider Coaster. All seats are beside the track and there is track between the middle seats. So, this and the Intamin Wing coaster are not wing coaster in my opinion. Walibi kinda overhyped this ride. Sure it looks like a decent and surely fun ride to ride, however not the 'crazy and unique ride' that the park claimed. Most European fans seem to have mixed feelings. Still, I welcome any new ride and I am going to pay the park a visit... but will be Goliath a lot more than Lost Gravity I guess.

^Wow you really sound like the Dutch forums, not that there is something wrong with that each their own opinion.

They didn't overhype anything in my opinion, in the end it's up to yourself how much you expect. This is unique in Europe as there is nothing like this in Europe. In the end it's al a marketing ploy by Walibi, you get much more attention if you can claim something is unique then to go around screaming you get the next generic coaster. They also don't lie on the winged part, these seats don't have anything above or below you and that's how manufactures sell the winged coasters.

It depends on what you think is a wing coaster. For me there has to be track in between the seats and there as to be seats on both sides off the track. Any manufracter can say whatever they want, it doesn't make it the truth. (Just as less as me saying something that is the truth no matter what, as you said, gladly you can have different opinions.)

I know it is marketing... I have a degree in marketing... and one of the first lessons is not to claim anything you can life up to. Surely you can spice up the truth a bit, but Walibi claimed to much in Dutch media. Don't get me wrong, I think it as really a decent ride... it is just 'mweeh' compared to the 'crazy wild ride' Walibi kept on shouting out.

So that makes this not a wing coaster (as type of product) and neither does it make the Intamin wing coaster a wing coaster, however the Intamin winger rider coaster is a wing coaster according to my theory.

Just to clarify, Wing Coaster is Intamin's name for Skyrush style coasters where some seats are out over the side.

Wing Rider is Intamin's name for coasters like Furious Baco where all seats are out over the side

^ I understand your still happy with the ride. All I'm trying to say is, where did they scream to load?

They promised something unique and they delivered, it may be in the most cheesiest way, but link me one other coaster in europe where half the train is a normal seated (with floor) and the other half of the seats is hovering mid air? And aren't the two outside seats next to the track? Okay they still over above it but the original wingcoaster (Furious Baco) also has all 4 seats above the track, just hovering mid air on the train's wing.

Also this is the last I say I don't want to turn this in a yes it is no it isn't discussion.

I know Just tried to explain what in my opinion an wing coaster is... as model or type of ride in general and so why I have mixed feelings with Lost Gravity.

Anyone knows when usually the first test runs will be?
