Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

Holiday World is making itself known lately in the last few years. The park has grown tremendously over the years. I love Splashin Safari, one of the best waterparks in the world, and the Voyage is just amazing, actually put them on the map.

 

I think this is a good addition to HW. Thrilling, yet family friendly, but not to terrifying.

The people are definitely going to be talking about it, and apparently they already are! I never hear the end of it about ShieKra over here, so what makes you think that they won't talk about it over there.

 

In Holland over here they don't even know legendary coasters such as ShieKra.

They can only talk about the great, great Goliath wich is almost shorter then this insane water ride will be!

I don't know about anyone else, but I find this much more interesting than Diamondback.

My concern about it all is support systems... if, in the end that's all the support that will be used.. My biggest concern is that.. will it last. :S

^ I'm sure they would have made sure they were strong enough during design. Besides, that just increases the sensation of terror.

I noticed HW now has a Pilgrims Plunge construction cam up on their website. For now it just says "coming soon!".

Just having the bar as a restraint sure looks to be intense. I'm sure they'll also include a seat belt as well though. Otherwise most of the GP would complain it's not safe.

But it's not like the drop is that steep. I think that and the huge pad they usually stick on them should be more then enough.

^^The GP complain about the Voyage having seatbelts...I doubt they would compain about the lack-of on Pilgrims Plunge.

I just noticed that the Pilgrims Plunge construction webcam is up and working. Looks like they're working in a little bit of snow right now.

When Holiday World adds any sort of vertical construction pics on thier blog or facebook page, I will be sure to add them here. So far, all concrete work.

*Elevator contruction won't start until end of Feb. Ground work going on now.

 

*HW will now serve drum Legs apparently.

Sort of a no-brainer for the Thanksgiving section.

 

The first two containers arrived with Pilgrims Plunge conveyor pieces on Wednesday. Construction cam is up.

!UPDATE!

 

Pilgrims Plunge has gone vertical! The first piece of steel to be installed was the very last section of the drop before the splashdown. (The first support has also been installed.)

 

 

PLUS, lots of work has been going on with the queue building, and I'm positive this will look amazing when finished.

Yes i understand that, but where is the Pilgrim theming on this particular ride?

My guess is that the theming will stop at the queue and station. Holiday World hasn't really ever themed their larger rides beyond those two places.
