Ok, since I actually like and care about this park, I took the time to go through our tape and find our Log Flume ride. You can clearly see they have an 'airport' style tower to watch over the lift and drop of the flume.

Yes, but I think it has been unmanned for a long time. They have cameras now instead.

...not that anyone on the UK trip would know anything about trying to stop a boat on a water ride would they...

...or a kiddie coaster train for that matter either

thanks for that expert commentary!

No need for sarcasm!

It was said that its POSSIBLE that water current is what caused it, I only solidified that!

I think it has been a rule for log flume to not climb up from the boat! How can she did that? Gosh, serious injury! I didn't believe it!

this is serious business...elissa pointed out the flaws.... none..... there will be retards who can't handle a ride now and then. if they aren't able to evaluate their own situation prior to their visit then it IS their own fault

There was nothing Liseberg could have done to prevent the accident, BUT I have to question how quickly the staff reacted to it since two logs were allowed to go down the drop after she fell. I can understand the first one as it came only seconds later, but they should have been able to stop the second log. Doesnt all log flumes have brakes before big drops??

LOL, I can't wait until Nicole sees this thread... I believe she described this flume as the second scariest flume on the UK trip... Although that had nothing to do with the ride itself I don't think.

hehe. lol Lou thanks for thinking of me!

Yeah... Alton Towers flume = terrifying huge quacking duck

Liseberg flume = scary because of the seating arrangement. Derek, me, Elissa, and then Robb IN THE FRONT. lol. It was a lot of fun though!

Sucks to hear about this accident. It's her own fault though.

^They do have something to secure the rider in the log...it's called COMMON SENSE!!!

If you don't have it, you shouldn't be allowed to ride!

Let's take a look at the variables here:

•Water flowing at over 3 MPH

•30 Pound Log train flowing down the flume

•Basically, a waterfall right in front of the log

•Lady trying to stop the boat with a flimsy maintenence rail

•No.

Knoebels has an op at the top of the bigger drop. (No I didn't set out to do that.) I suspect they do sleep through it sometimes, because it hasn't stopped people from sticking their gum all over the trough up there (the most inexplicable tradition I've ever seen.)

Sorry but I find it incredible stupid that she thought she could stop the boat.

I'm sorry for her but as said numerous times: it's her own fault!

*30* Pound Log??? Where are you getting your data from? Do you have any idea how heavy a log flum log is??

the aftermath should be evaluated by what a reasonable person who is at an amusement park would do. this person was a flaw in humans who attend these parks. it shouldnt have went on the ride period. <-period

Eloquent! This sort of behavior is why woodies now have those worthless seatbelts and adjusting lapbars.

Still, I find it hard to get self-righteous about this, as I've personally done some rather stupid things that nearly killed me. I imagine most of the people here have done the same. What concerns me about this is the woman's age. I wonder if she was drunk. A woman in her 30s should certainly know better than to pull this sort of stunt.

Pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong Elissa) that if Balder didn't have seatbelts both Richard Neville and myself wouldn't have lived to survive the UK trip

As people have been saying the women should of know better than do a thing like that on a moving Log Boat Ride.

If anyone has a fear of the slightest heights they should not ride, simple as that.

djrappa - What was Bush Beast like to ride..?

^^I was sitting behind you guys trying to figure out how I would catch you if you flew out! But then again, you two are stupid, I expect more from the Swedes!

Hey, I rode Bush Beast too! Um, it sucked...like a bad version of PKD's Grizzly!

Throw some OTSRs on the log, all will be well

Shhhhhhhh! They might do that, just like they want to put "ratings" on coasters and rides, like on vidoes!

How come everyone rode it but me. Lousy WOnderland.
