p. 337: Quantum Accelerator family coaster announced for 2025!

Recommended Posts

I'll be leaving my apartment about 6:00 Saturday morning in order to get to SFNE before opening. I've booked a room at a motel for the night and I'll be stopping at LC on the drive home Sunday.

Since you have a SF season pass, I think doing SFNE Saturday and for some of Sunday morning is a fine plan. Honestly if you're going to be getting to the park that early Saturday you might not even feel the need to go back Sunday.

As far as Lake Compounce, I've always done the after 5 discount on a Saturday in the summer (when the park was open until 9pm), and while it's not enough time to really do EVERYTHING in the park I felt it was plenty of time for the secondary coasters, some interesting flats, and a bunch of Boulder Dash night rides. Unfortunately, you'll be going when the park is only open until 8, and with sunset at 8:30 after 5 might not be enough time for you, and might not provide the best chance for Boulder Dash night rides (BD is my #1 but in my experience it isn't nearly as impressive during the day). I would definitely recommend you stop by the park, but it's your decision whether you would rather try to get the park done in 3 hours or spend the extra $20 for a day ticket.

While we're on the subject of stops though I would also totally recommend you swing by Quassy at some point on this trip if you've never been. It's about 15 minutes off 84, it's pay-per-ride, and Wooden Warrior is great fun. If you don't mind being a little inefficient you could do it between SFNE and LC on Sunday, or you could sleep in a little bit on Saturday and hit it on the way to SFNE.

Lots of options haha, have fun no matter what you end up doing!

I just got back from what I have to say was my best ever trip to my home park. The staff overall are more polite and with good crews than I have seen in a while. Of my six trips on Wicked Cyclone I asked for a front row once and they kindly allowed which was great. WC was delayed until noon for opening , they told us something needed "tightening up" and they were adding the second train. We waited for about half an hour after we arrived for our first ride but it was a walk on most of the day.

I saw a lot of enthusiasts today, many from overseas, hope you enjoyed your day at the park on this hot day! Noticed a guy in an SOB shirt, three guys in coaster club shirts and someone in particular who had an amazing Krustyland shirt, love it dude.

My opinion of Wicked Cycone was that it was really intense, relentless in airtime, and I compare it somewhat to the many twists and turns of Maverick. As I get older I find I rank coasters less and just love them all so much to tell you if I liked it better than Bizarro, Leviathan, Maverick and my other favorites of the 250 or so coasters I have been on but it was absolutely amazing and lives up to the hype I have been reading about.

Here's my ride count for today:

WC: 6, 30 mins to walk on later in the day, I reccomend the front row if you're lucky enough to land it!

Bizarro: 1 ,30 mins, 2 trains, solid crew here!

Blizzard River, 1, walk on

Flashback,1, walk on

Goliath, 1, 20 minutes, oh god it was painful this year but I still love that vertical inverted drop

I also got back from SFNE for my FIRST VISIT and can say that this is a very solid park. They have a great selection of coasters and flats ranging from Bizarro and WC to Sky Screamer and Scream. After my visit, I can say that without any doubt that Wicked Cyclone is a TON better than Bizarro. Wicked Cyclone (and I'm not even kidding you) has at least 15-20 moments of GREAT airtime. I rode this six times today and I was delivered a bruising. On Bizarro, which is definitely not a bad coaster at all (both of them made my top ten) delivered air time, yet it was very painful. Also the train seemed to lag throughout the course of the ride. The first drop was good, but nothing special. I will definitely come back here!

Yeah, the airtime on WC is just nuts. Every ride I said "I'm going to count how many moments" and every time it totally slipped my mind on ride

Shame about Bizarro, I'm quite mad at myself for waiting so long to finally get to this park, maybe it was better with the old restraints but these current ones just are not good, and I think they restrain the airtime. Again I can't know but it just had a weird feel to it, and the airtime itself felt kinda weird, restrained is the only way I can put it

Bizarro is a shell of its former self as S:ROS, nothing can compare to the original t-bar restraints without the shin restraints think Millenium Force. The new trains do seem to drag along imo especially in the 2nd half of the course. Still a top 5 coaster imo, but even if six flags ever rebranded it again it'll still be a shell of its original self without the original train design.

The giant seatbacks are parachutes too. I'm not some patch jacket ACEr and I also am not a giant, but the redone restraints pin my legs in such an uncomfortable position that , when combined with the ops pushing down, leads to me being super uncomfortable and disliking my ride. Classic case of increasing the forces on rides and needing to them force people to stay in their seats with increasing restraints commensurate to the newly applied force. Except in this case, they screwed up badly the first time and had to come back with this jerry-rigged system that blows goats. It isn't my preference.

Speaking of taking a great ride and putting horrendous trains on it that greatly diminish the ride experience, it sounds like the consensus is that Goliath still beats the crap out of you. I'm interested to try it this weekend for myself but I really don't get why they don't put the old trains that everyone liked back on the ride.

You have stated your opinion many times for the Goliath train, GET OVER IT!

Rumor from somebody very close to the park is saying that the park is working on another set of new trains for bizarro. This source and the strong rumor of Superman returning 2016 makes me think the ride will definitely be better next year. Not as good as when it opened in 2000, but better than what it is now.

Still depends on how tall you are, but it's definitely not as egregious as last year for people under 5'10" or so. Bringing back the old trains would still be the most desirable option, but the new ones have gotten better.

Wow, someone's a little cranky today.

I was actually quite encouraged when the ride re-opened this season and it was getting positive reviews, but I've noticed lately that the responses for the ride experience are back to being incredibly negative. I don't think there's anyone out there who doesn't prefer the old train and that's everyone's feedback on the ride so I really don't know why it angers you so much when it's coming from me. lol

Edit: Here's someone else who recently said the same thing you just yelled at me for saying but you didn't yell at them when they said it, who was that person? Oh yeah... you.

I was there too and I noticed Goliath was missin a seat. They removed a seat from

One of the cars. So instead of 32 people per ride it was 31. Not only blocking it off, nowhere to be found. If that doesn't show they need the old train I don't know what does.

I'm glad to hear the great reviews about Cyclone. I hope it is a pre-cursor of what could happen to the Georgia Cyclone

Sucks about DeJa....Goliath's trains though. When I finally got to ride one of these (after 4 years of trying) I really enjoyed it. Sucks that the new trains might screw that up.

How bad have "walks of shame" been on Wicked Cyclone? I'll be up there again the first week of August. For those who've been on both, I can fit on El Toro but pretty much always need an extra push. I'm exercising and dropping some weight, but depending on how forgiving the restraints will be, I'm a bit nervous it won't be enough in time for my visit.

For Michael,

I had the same problem last year for Bizarro, I was turned away on three attempts even after passing the test seat. Yesterday I was able to ride which was a pleasant surprise considering I haven't lost all that much weight, it kind of rests on your legs. For WiCy, I rode 6 times yesterday, and needed a little extra push from the checker maybe twice. Anyways... I found El Toro to be a bit more difficult to get on, to compare it to Wicked Cyclone. The restraint will not click, but rather just need to be in the right position for it to register with the dispatcher. I saw people being turned away from Bizarro yesterday but not once did I see someone turned away from WiCy. I would say if you can get on El Toro, you won't have a problem getting on WiCy. There is also a test seat before the marquee on the left side if you aren't sure. I think your chances are good, bud.

Oh God, have we been reduced to calling this coaster WiFi... ...SyFy... ...HiFi... ...ByBy?

Guy "GiGy" Koepp

Seriously? Out of all of the "nicknames" on this site, this is the least ridiculous. NTAG:What's the "a" for? IRAT, P0cky. Seriously this site is literally full of people complaining.
