kraken613 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I think this is one of the least banked GCI's out there. Just more subtle banking than the high banks found on most GCI's.
kraken613 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 But compared to the steep banking of most its more gradual on Prowler.
Capitalize Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Looks really awesome, gotta love GCI, hopefully KD can get one in the near future.
OzCatter Posted September 2, 2008 Author Posted September 2, 2008 Nice. Should be there when it opens. I better find a way to Coaster Con to watch the ACEr's attempts to ride.
NewsPlusNotes Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Prowler looks like it'll be a fantastic ride, low and fast. $8 million seems high, though. Evel Knievel was said to be $7 million, and even Renegade's press stuff said $6.5 million - and Renegade is a little longer than Prowler. Mike
Jive Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I think that the terrain is the reason for the extra cash.
DBru Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Loving the finale stretch of continuous airtime!
Guest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I think that the terrain is the reason for the extra cash. Not to mention that the price of lumber - like everything else - has gone up a lot.
RenegadeFan Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Wait... what.... a new ride was announced and everyone's opinions are POSITIVE?! Personally I think its too short, the trackwork was rough (see all that jerking in the video!?), and it looks just boring!!!!!!!!!!! I'll be there to ride it sometime next year for sure. I LOVED EK and OzCat was good too, this one looks very un-GCI like but also very fun. Can't wait! The video was jerky because of how it was rendered. It's not as smooth as what NoLimits generates. It will also be much more intense in real life. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Once the official live POV comes out, it will have lots and LOTS of speed. The computer animations give a good idea, but they're crap compared to the real things.
STR8FXXXINEDGE Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 ^ I'm pretty sure that CP_RULES was joking.
bigstevet07 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 It looks great. I actually kind of dig the name since it will be so close to the ground most of the ride.
carolinacaniac Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 ^I agree, I thought the name was a great fit after seeing the layout with the POV. This looks like a really cool ride. I would love to give it a try in the future.
PKI Jizzman Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 My main 'complaint' for this ride is that when they say it uses the 'terrain', it's pretty much like flat woods. With the Beast, they utilized the dips and elevation changes. I think that with GCI's mindset, they could have had more of their swooping drops and dips over the small bumps they use in the compact models like Thunderhead, Ozcat, and Ky Rumbler. It just doesn't look as crazy good or insane as the others. Maybe CF influenced this ride's design a bit more than GCI would have liked? Regardless of the layout, this ride will still be great. A night ride on this looks like it will really please all riders. -JZ
Jive Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Flat woods? There's a 17 foot deep ravine that it's going in and out of. There's very little flat land back there.
jamesdillaman Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 ^ LOL at 17 foot and Ravine used in the same sentence. -James Dillaman
raptor6 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 This coaster looks like nonstop speed and unique for a GCI creation. Can't wait to see how it compares to their other designs.
kraken613 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I hope its as good as the low to the ground tight section of Thunderhead after the station fly-through! That parts complete insanity! Especially at night!
verticalzero Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 The swooping 1st drop is lovely, it's back to the 20's/30's style.. The ride could do with some tunnels on some of the hills so no-one can see how far down the hills go.
TC Ridesalot Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 The ride looks awesome! With that being said here is my concerns with this coaster. 1-We already know that WOF does a terrible job keeping up woodies 2-With that back area should somebody not be concerned with deer? I know of three occasions I saw deer out by the train tracks. 3-When it rains is it going to take a while for that area to have runoff before they can stat the ride again? But, even with the concerns I'm very excited for the new ride!!!!!! GO Kansas City!
Wes Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 2-With that back area should somebody not be concerned with deer? I know of three occasions I saw deer out by the train tracks. How do you think they get the meat for their burgers and hot dogs?

Hobbesx2 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I've seen deer there as well, but I don't think that will be a problem. But you seem to be right about the water runoff in the ditch- there will have to be some serious drainage pipes or something.
