Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

P. 835: The Beast re-tracking effort announced!

Recommended Posts

It's entirely possible that I missed this, but I noticed these trains do not have the blue 1950's model pickup front end like the artwork. Was that not the original design or did they call an audible?

There are three different colored trains (as seen from testing). We've seen a yellow/Goldish train, and a rust/orangeish train so far but we havent seen the blue one.

I have my first ever trip to King's Island coming up in the beginning of June. I'm assuming spoilers will be allowed in this thread? I'm trying to decide if I want to be surprised by what's in the shed.

I can assure you that you will need to avoid any and all coaster related internet as soon as this thing opens if you're serious about that.

I know what's in the shed.

It's a launched RMC giga coaster in the dark. Unfortunately it only works once per month.

I see what you did there and that's great... Hopefully they will build another canopy to help prevent wasps nests at the end of the launch

Pretty cool interview with Don:

Seeing the outside of the Shed, to me it doesn't look tall enough for some kind of drop track because it's all posts and trusses so I'm guessing not a drop track section... maybe a piece of track that barrel rolls 180 degrees?

Me n' tha midgets kinda love the ending. We derive weird pleasure from pretending to beat drums like the statues.

One of my favorite memories from Kings Island was a couple years ago when I ended up on Adventure Express sitting next to a kid who was probably 4 or 5 years old, his presumed mom was with another presumed sibling in front of us. He had clearly been on it before and was so excited for the ride and was going crazy the entire time, including pretending to beat drums like the statues with the biggest grin I've seen on such a small kid.

... I don't expect much from the shed...but the rest of the ride...WOW. That train is absolutely flying! If it's really as fast as it looks over those hills, this thing could be amazing. Can't wait to get out there later this summer and find out!

It seems like most of new GCIs have really been winners in the airtime department (White Lightning, Gold Striker, etc) while their older ones were considerably tamer. Mystic Timbers looks great and should give awesome night rides like several of Kings Island's other coasters.
