PKI Jizzman Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 This is totally off topic, but has anyone heard where the on-ride photo will be taken? Bottom of the second drop.
Reon Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Well, this is coming from a park that origionally put an on ride photo right before the lift on Son of Beast.... On a slightly different topic, does anybody know when season pass processing will start this year? I'll be in Cincy next week for spring break, and I was hoping to stop by KI some time...
Tchu Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Given the fact that the second drop is nearly 200ft and where the ride will reach its top speed over just over 80mph... I don't think its a strange place to put the on-ride photo at all. I've heard a lot of people talking that the second drop through to the third hill could be a surprisingly intense/awesome segment of the coaster, given the track structure and the extreme speeds obtained at the base of the second drop.

PKI Jizzman Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 ^That seems like an odd place to put it. "Given the fact that the second drop is nearly 200ft and where the ride will reach its top speed over just over 80mph... I don't think its a strange place to put the on-ride photo at all." Ummm

It starts just when I get back to school....Oh well, that just means wasting a good hour or so on opening day waiting in line to get my picture taken.
angryemobeaver Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Well, this is coming from a park that origionally put an on ride photo right before the lift on Son of Beast.... No, Paramount did that. Cedar Fair moved it to the airtime hill where to loop once was. Which is a great place for it.
jamesdillaman Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 ^The best place is right before you get in your seat, so they can match up the remains for your family after SoB beats you to death... -James Dillaman
Tbcoasterfan Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 ^The best place is right before you get in your seat, so they can match up the remains for your family after SoB beats you to death... -James Dillaman Amen to that. Whenever I go there I ride Son of Beast just once cause it's just so damn rough! Even with those new trains! Now the Beast I'll ride over and over...... even though they RUINED the ride by put all those magnetic trim brakes in it.... but I digres. Tom
triggernel Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I really hope that you'll be able to feel the splash on the splash down. It would make the element so much better.
CreditCrazy Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I really hope that you'll be able to feel the splash on the splash down. It would make the element so much better. Yeah, the splash will come from backwards then shoot out in front of you and splash you in Ohio weather
jamesdillaman Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 You'll feel the splashdown by it slowing down the train, probably nothing more than that, though. -James Dillaman
Eric_Smith Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Yeah, the splash will come from backwards then shoot out in front of you and splash you in Ohio weather I bet that if the put the scoops in the front of the train, you would get wet. It might hurt, but you might get wet.
themeparkman25 Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 ^The water gets thrown in those "v" shapes which would hit riders, which would without doubt hurt quite badly. Still though, it would be cool if you could get the riders wet, but I am sure they want the wetness to be a voluntary thing.

Ummm Nitro's Onride photo was also at the bottom of its second drop when it opened till about 2006.
DonkeyBreath Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Ayone know why they've drained the splashpool ?
jamesdillaman Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 ^ It must be to make way for their 2010 coaster! Let the speculation begin! -James Dillaman
VGplay Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Temperatures dipped into the low 20s last night, so it was probably to prevent it from freezing.
bgroodog Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 ^ It must be to make way for their 2010 coaster! Let the speculation begin! -James Dillaman Direct from the blog.... "If you checked out the webcam today, you probably noticed the water in the splashdown pool has been drained. This was done so we can finish the site work around that part of the ride."
triggernel Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 Low 20's, great to be living in Minnesota right now.
southpuddle Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 ^^ Say it with me now: sar - ca- zum ... sarcasm.
bgroodog Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 ^ I just realized that I quoted the wrong person... It was meant for the guy above him who asked
PhantomNick Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 Diamondback has really shaped up nicely, and I am psyched to ride it at some point this spring/summer. Those test runs looked great, and this has the potential to be quite a ride. They're now adding some landscaping touches around the queue area/splashdown, and that will just finish it off perfectly.
Xxhershey818xX Posted March 31, 2009 Posted March 31, 2009 So does anyone know if there is going to be like a splashdown play/viewing area like with Shiekra and Griffon? Because that would be an awesome way to cool off in the summer when Ohio gets unbearably hot. Plus it would make the attraction more guest interactive
