FilmoreISnAZN Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 So everyone is thinking drop track.....I can see that on a steel coaster as it is easier to have the rails line up and a lot less structure to deal with. I am having trouble seeing this pulled off on a wooden coaster. Unless it travels onto some sort of "bridge" steel structure for that part. I really think it would require precise measurements for the track to lineup with a wooden train.

The same way a wooden coaster traverses over the transfer track is the same way it will traverse onto and off of the drop track section.
Geauga Dog Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Well, the name is a bit underwhelming but I thought everyone's favorite, Splintercat, was just as bad. Splinterhawk, that would have been the ideal Cedar Fair name. Am I the only one who thought that adding another wood coaster to Kings Island was a somewhat odd decision? Granted a fast paced, curvy GCI would be something a bit different from what is already there.
DorneyKid14 Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Looks like a good coaster!! Might have to detour down to the park from CP next may to ride! Might actually have to detour down in September just to get a t-shirt.
The Geek Mojo Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I was all excited until they named the coaster.
gerstlaueringvar Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 If this thing is as holy f**king insane as Python in Bamboo Forest, I'm getting season pass next year!

This has to have a pretty substantial structure dropping. Not near as simple as say Verbolten......
thrillseeker4552 Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Mystic Timbers isn't the *best* name, but let's be honest, it's way better than SplinterCat. But in the end, I really don't care what they name it. Can't wait for more pictures and videos!

kenban Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 The employee from GCI claimed he does not know, so either that is a lie or it cannot be part of the coaster track itself. It almost has to be a show scene of some kind.

See, with wooden coasters, they can have steel structures. Just remove the tubular track and added the wooden track adn same thing. Of course, they wouldn't do it with a wooden structure, as most wooden coasters have steel structured transfer tracks. It's really not as difficult as you are making it out to be.
coasterbill Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I'm not watching because we're too busy drinking but are they keeping the log flume? That's really all I care about.
bluestreak Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I'm not watching because we're too busy drinking but are they keeping the log flume? That's really all I care about. They said nothing about the flume... which makes me think it's staying.

Why can't it be at the end? That building looks perfect for a drop track. The only way it can be a drop track is if the track drops, but then comes back up with the train.

Mr. Corn Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I think that this will be a good addition. I think though at the end, they might have either a show scene with a SplinterCat, or a drop track where you drop then rise back up. I think whatever they do though, will be really cool
RollerManic Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Hmm... maybe a well themed showroom at the very end of the ride that leads to sadness and disappointment? It wouldn't be Kings Island first. *cough*adventure express*cough*

Password121 Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I hope it's a lift hill in a shed to show up Adventure Express.
BoulderDash Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Here is the POV https://player.vimeo.com/video/175920400 The track at the end doesn't look like it goes through completely. Might be a drop.
