Skramp
Ok, I was wondering if anyone has been/knows of any one of a kind attractions out there that are a must "credit." I don't mean like anything normal. I would say something like the The Big Shot on top of the Stratosphere or something along those lines. I'm looking for vacation spots for my family and I for the summer and trying to find somewhere to go with some unique adventures. It doesn't have to be per se an amusement park attraction, just something that would be unique and different. Any ideas?
DBru
Hmmm, I here those robotic arm rides are really great. And though Fun Spot is a dump, the Sky Coaster there is a must-do...
FeelTheFORCE
X2 will definitely be one-of-a-kind. X is my favorite steel coaster and is nothing like I have ever ridden. I'd suggest going to SFMM and you could also go to Universal, Disneyland, Knotts, etc.. You could also make a trip to New Jersey and go to SFGADV to ride the one-of-a-kind (at least to the US) El Toro. If you go there you could also go to Dorney Park, NYC, and Wildwood/Morey's Piers. I am going there for the first time in June! Both places are close to the ocean, it just depends on if you prefer Atlantic or Pacific!
Airtime&Gravity
Well, of course any ride at a Disney park is a must ride as their rides are unlike those at any other park. Then there are parks like Blackpool, Morey's Piers, and Indiana Beech which always seem to find room in which to place another ride. Then you have rides, that while not unique, are must rides just for how good they are. El Toro, Avalanche, and S:RoS are two great examples of must rides in this category. Sure you can find wooden coasters or hypers at many local and regional parks, but these rides offer an experience unlike any other coaster in the country. SharkTums
I think you need to give us a bit more information. Budget, time, what you guys like, etc. Some random suggestions: - Orlando - Dells - Dollywood - Branson - LA
oriolat
Pleasure Beach at Blackpool - Old rides not found anywhere else, at least in Europe. Tibidabo - The Plane ride and Two-buckets-on-a-stick ride. Stratosphere Tower - All rides hanging from the edge of the tower. Phantasialand - Unique themeing to all of their rides and innovative concepts not seen anywhere else like a Spinning dueling coaster, Mystery Castle, River Quest... Fallen Heretic
Pleasure Beach at Blackpool - Old rides not found anywhere else, at least in Europe. I second this. Steeplechase is a must, as is the Mouse. There arent many old wooden mice left in the world, and steeplechase is now the last of its kind. Noahs Ark is also pretty rare. Id also add pretty much any Waltzer (thats tilt-a-whirl to you) in the UK as they almost always have walkers here. They are people who walk all over the ride, spinning the tubs by hand. A bribe, some friendly banter or a girl with a low cut top can get you some serious spinning.
Teacups Make Me Sick
Carlsbad Caverns has an was open to the public in the 50s before US Regulations prohibited altering the natural settings of any US Park....therfore, they are unique b/c they are one of the few caverns with an underground lunchroom. http://www.nps.gov/cave/
Bucket
The Tilt-Coaster looks so intimidating! I wonder why more weren't built?
ttd rox
A tilt coaster like mentioned before is definately "unique" and must be cool to ride! Never been on one but hope I will get to in my coaster enthusiast life! The Dells is pretty cool especially Hades and Avalanche!
PKI Jizzman
Well, wayyy down under at Movie World Australia...there's this little ride called "Scooby Doo's Spooky Coaster." It's some place you hardly hear about, and when you do, it's usually Superman. But man, this indoor wild mouse is incredible. It's got tight turns, airtime, and unexpected surprises. The theming is way off the chart inside the qeue, and on the ride. If anyone is down in the Gold Coast area, you should definately check out the park...and Scooby Doo! -JZ
jamesdillaman
I would love to get on a Starflyer in my lifetime. That looks like one of those "once-in-a-lifetime" things for me, mainly because I think I would be so freaked out by the height that I would only be able to do it once! -James Dillaman
Skramp
Thanks to everyone so far for the great ideas. We live near KI and will be doing a van trip so it would have to be not too much of drive. I'm thinking the Dells sound great, lots of stuff to do there, plus none of us have ever been there. dr.gumbo
Blackpool in general mainly because it's the only major seaside town to retain much of its buildings and what not. Pleasure beach is also unique being that its somehow retain its charm over the years. For a specific coaster I would have to go for the Ultimate for obvious reasons. (I couldn't resist it)
Hercules
^ I don't think they could do a van trip from Ohio to England.

I'm thinking the Dells sound great, lots of stuff to do there, plus none of us have ever been there. Darn. Well, if you ever take a trip to NY and go to MFI, DL, Seabreeze, MarineLand, PCW, etc. make sure you go out of your way to get to Sylvan Beach. As my home park, I am happy to say that the park is a safe haven for old rides - from companies like W.F. Mangels, Hrubetz, Eli Bridge, (if they count) Eyerly, and even one of the last (or maybe even last) remaining original Pretzel Dark Ride. They just got a Rotor that was completed soon after the park closed for 2007 and I will ride it in July or August, and a Mini Golf Course. Within 5 to 10 years they plan to add 14 new rides, including Parasailing, a high capacity speed boat, and even a Double Ferris Wheel. They have a crap load of games, including Fascination. Plus, about a 3 - 5 minute walk away from the nearby playground that's next to the Mini golf course is Eddie's restaurant - a cool restaurant founded in the 1930's, and even still has a Soda Booth thing. The deserts look really good, but I never tried them. Sure their only coaster is and SDC Galax, but you get some nice air in the back (those drops are steep, yaknow) and IMO the place looks awesome at night. -Tanks "Full Fledged Sylvan Beach Enthusiast" 4me05. thrillgeek
Spiderman at IOA. What a rush as you think it's just a motion simulator. Then out of nowhere you spin, get wet, get flames shot at you, and fall off a building only to be caught by Spiderman! Best non coaster ride I've been on.
