Meteornotes Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I would totally contribute money for the "Cooking With Joe Thanksgiving Spectacular". Hopefully there will be explosions... dt
JamesMC Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 My girlfriend and I will be going to her Twin Sister's house for Turkey, and then later going to my folk's house for beer and BS. All I know is that I am off and I am gonna enjoy my day off.
Guy T. Koepp Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 The world needs a Cooking with Joe Thanksgiving Edition. You wouldn't want to let the world down now would you Joe? Count me in!!
terrancew_hod Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 It's gonna be a busy next week for me. It's the annual White Party even for Care Resource, which is a South Florida HIV nonprofit organization. It's a week long event that I volunteer for. So here's the schedule: Tuesday: Pack an overnight bag. Wednesday: work my regular job from 9am-6pm. Grab a quck bite to get to my volunteer shift at 7pm. Work as a greeter and a silent auction until 1am. Thanksgiving: Eat with roommates; leave for next shift at 7pm. Work as a greeter until 2am. Run home and get a few winks in. Friday: Drive to Orlando early to meet up with friends from Midwest Trip at Islands of Adventure. Catch a few winks of sleep that night. Saturday: Drive back to Miami. Change into White Party outfit. Head to assignment. Work at the Talent tent from 5pm to 11pm where I'll have a walkie talkie and babysit Cyndi Lauper and Darren Hayes (former lead singer from Savage Garden) before they perform. Go party until daybreak. Sunday: Go to beach party event... try to get enough sleep for monday morning! Terry
cfc Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I'm heading to Cullowhee, NC (about an hour west of Asheville) to spend Thanksgiving with my old friends from my old Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo days, the Railsbacks. It's about an eight-hour haul from Williamsburg, and I'll be totin' pie! I've been spending Thanksgiving with them for more than 20 years now (well, not the same Thanksgiving--sequential, separate Thanksgivings). They will, as they do every year, ask me, "Hey, what do you want to do this weekend?" to which my traditional response will be, "How about Dollywood?" This will be followed by groans from their two sons, who hate country music, thus vetoing that suggestion immediately. (Besides, the crowds will be insane for the Christmas stuff there that weekend.) But we usually pay our respects to the local Native American population at the casino in Cherokee.
moinab Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Nothing exciting - just the 5 of us. We bought all the food this morning. We'll probably cook this weekend, rather than staring at the turkey in the refrigerator all week. Most of my family is in New England, and we all hate travelling during the holidays. It's been 7 years since I spent a holiday with family.

Alana and I have been meaning to get away from the kids so we can ride the bigger rides that they have no interest in. So you will know, we get Q2Q. It is a realy great deal and I get a bigger discount on it being a platnium member.
cfc Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 ^I'll let you know, Guy, but I'm betting that the Cherokee casino is as close as we'll get to Dollywood.
Guy T. Koepp Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I understand. You gotta have priorities.
bigjohnson51 Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I'm taking a trip to a small town in Akrkansas where my grandma and grandpa live. I can't wait for him to take me around awkwardly intoducing me to every girl in town...
Angry_Gumball Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Like last year, I'll be hanging out at home, playing the Wii all day with the rest of the family.
mike541x Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Just stay home with my parents and watch football.
ebl Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I really don't like going far on holiday weekends, so I'll most likely be going to my mom's house. It's only 45 miles away, so that's not a long trip. Eric
BelizeIt Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Well I'm going to the city of Fallbrook, CA (where my father lives) to have Thanksgiving dinner at the Pala Mesa Golf Resort. This is where we spent last Thanksgiving, and had a great time. But, since our last visit to this amazing resort, it has received some unfortunate publicity because a guest managed to suicide himself on the 18th green by accidently driving his Golf Cart off a 75 foot cliff!!! (I play golf, and I can't imagine how this could happen) But, I'm looking forward to spending time with my family at this Beautiful resort, which is what Thanksgiving is all about.
Erik Johnson Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Have a big dinner this year with family. Yeah I am going to stuff myself.
CoasterCrazy88 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Normally we host Thanksgiving for my grandparents and my aunts and uncles, but this year we are doing something smaller. My grandma and uncle from my mom's side, and my grandma from my dad's side will be at our house for dinner. We are just going to have the basic stuff for dinner: Honeybaked ham, turkey, mashed potatos, green beans, and rolls. It might be nice to have less people over. It's more personal that way! ----Antonio
itsme102 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 First I'm going to my high schools thanksgiving/homecoming game in the morning. (The OLDEST high school football rivalry in the country, I might add..) Then I go over my grandparents' house for a huge dinner, and then spend the rest of the day there.
odene497 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I'll just be relaxing at my house, my brothers will come over, my mom will cook lots of good food. We'll eat, talk, and people will fall asleep in couches and chairs and lounge around all day.
spaceace12 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Well, Thanksgiving plans are starting to happen. Tomorrow is my Church's Thanksgiving dinner. Thursday, I work at my p/t job from 9am till everyone is gone and the store is locked up (probably around 1ish), then head to my Grandparents for another dinner, then back to f/t job where they will probably be a boxed dinner there for me. Plus there is now early cast so I will have 6 hours of nothing to do (expect a video from me soon). Then Next Saturday is my sister's and me dinner with my dad and his new wife.
TheRapidsNerd Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Getting together with family, but also catching up on stuff around the apartment during the break. Hoping to get some more time and ideas for TPR Land. Also working on other projects. Gonna try to take it easy too. Mmmmm....mashed potatos.....
buttonman700 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Looks like we are going to drive my folks over to the coast (this is still weird to me, even after living here for 22 years, "driving to the coast", having grown up in Ventura). dad wants dinner at one of the casinos that are out there and well, I not one to say no to a visit to the casino!
Guy T. Koepp Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 As I will be flying in at 1am in the morning. I'll probably sleep through all the family and friends thing. Wake up, eat, fall asleep watching football, thus missing all the rest of the family and friends thing. Exactly the way I want it.
Goliath513 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 On Wednesday, my family will drive out to Reno, NV to visit my cousin who lives there. My grandparents and another one of my cousins are also coming. We will be having Thanksgiving dinner at the hotel we're staying at since my cousin doesn't have room for us in her apartment.
stingrock23 Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I'll be with my relatives eating Fried Turkey
