I was browsing around PointBuzz (sue me) when I saw this. I only figured it out after someone posted his MySpace page. He got into a bad car accident on I-90 on August 25th; his last post on here was August 23rd. He passed away a week later from his injuries.

More information on the accident:

And... I truly hate to say it... his obituary.

Rest in peace, Dan.

Wow, this kind of shocked me. I liked talking to him and it was kind of odd where I saw no new posts of his on here or the other forum he posted at (ThrillNetwork).

His family is in my prayers tonight, I hope they get well soon and I hope Dan is doing well wherever he is now.

I'm very sad to hear a fellow coaster enthusiast having his life cut short at such a young age. RIP

I'm sure there is a bigger version of MF or Magnum XL coaster ( or your fav coaster) up in Heaven.

Dan: when we are ready to join you we can all put our hands up down the drops and scream together.

This is so sad. I never met him or talked alot to him, but he was one of the guys here on the forum who I know from his posts. It actually feels strange to know he won't post here anymore...

RIP

Poor fellow had his life stolen from him at far too tender of an age.

And people think I'm odd for fearing highways and despising tailgaters.

As much as I enjoy this hobby, there will be nothing about coasters on my obit.

Wow. This has to be really hard for his family. This New Years, I was woke up at like 3 or 4 in the morning by people screaming and yelling and then I found out that one of my aunt's friend was in a very horrific car crash. This was a very traumatic experience for everyone. My thoughts and prayers go out to Masked Maverick and his family and friends.

EDIT: I hope someone finishes the book he was writing in memory of him.

From the looks of his last post that was put up a day before the accident, he was making a coaster run when the accident happened. While it's a tragedy that he is gone, at least he was out doing something he enjoyed. Sad to say that our highways are far more dangerous than any coaster. From reading his obituary, it sounds like Daniel led a purposeful, though short life. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

His obituary stated that in his memory, his family would like people to donate to the Lake County Humane Society. Would anyone be interested in making a group donation on behalf of Theme Park Review to them?

I will call them tomorrow (since it's Labor Day today) and get all the information I can.

Can we set up a Paypal for this sort of thing?

I didn't know the man, but it's always sad to here things like this. Sometimes I think I'm paranoid about car accidents and things of that nature. My condolensces go out to his family and friends. I didn't read anything else on it, but how is the passanger who was in the car with him?

It's always tragic when someone dies, whether you know them or not. Rest in peace wherever you may be, Dan. My heart goes out to the family and anyone close to him, you will be in my thoughts.

I'm pretty sure you can set up PayPal for almost anything. This is a good idea, let us know if you go through with it.

His family is in my prayers.

I did happpen to know Daniel, I met him one year at Cedar Point (I think 2003 or 2004) and it's very sad to hear of this. My thoughts go out to his family.

It is very sad to hear and I wish his family the best.

I do find it ironic that when a coaster enthusiast dies in a car it is barely local news, but if a car enthusiast would die on a coaster the world would know.
