Chain (albeit small): Upper Crust Pizza in Boston. Absolutely amazing pizza.

Non-chain: Pizza - Sorrento's (Concord, MA)

Burger - RF O'Sullivan's (Cambridge, MA). Best burger I've ever had in my life. I can't even begin to understand how people eat at the "better" burger joints (u-burger, etc), let alone McDonalds.

Steak - Ruth's Chris Steak House

How the heck can anyone like Cicis?!?!? As if the food wasn't bad enough, the clientele is usually consistent of white trash!

Chain wise, I love both Johnnys (good pizza, simple yet solid pasta) and Mellow Mushroom (good pizza, great calzones, and they always have the best local beers). Of the big national guys, Papa Johns is far superior to the rest, which isn't saying much.

I love just about any indie place with wood-fired pizza. Especially brewpubs

Sadly, however, I don't eat at these places very often. Maybe like once every three months =/

Chain: they all suck.

Local place: Adriatico's. They only have locations in Cincinnati and Columbus. While it might not match up to some of the stuff you can get in major metropolitan areas, I really love this place. Spicy sauce, excellent thick crust, and gigantic pepperoni slices. I've ordered from this place dozens of times and they've NEVER given me a bad pizza. And it certainly destroys the several pizza places I've eaten at in Chicago.

Theme park pizza: Delgrosso's. I dunno if it's the sauce factory next door or what. But this is the freshest tasting pizza I've ever had at a theme park.

Most sought after pizza: The stuff they sell in Sicily. I've seen this on several travel shows and it looks utterly amazing.

^ I have never had "real" Sicilian pizza but would love to experience it. Although, I did have some of the best pizza when I was in Naples a few years ago. The calzones were also to die for as they used fresh buffalo mozzerella and not the rubbery preservative-laden, tasteless crap we call mozzerella in this country!

In this country, chain pizza can be hit or miss. I have had good and downright horrible at just about all the big-name chains (Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa John's etc).

Locally, there is a place called Pace's here in Jamestown, NY that makes the best green olive pepperoni pizza on the face of this earth! I have never had a bad pie there!!!

The biggest "chain" I like is LaRosa's, they're all over Cincinnati, though they do have a few locations in the Dayton area.

Smaller: Adriatico's, as someone previously mentioned. I just love the cheese and the spice of it. Though I'm generally a thin crust guy, Adriatico's is an exception.

You think eating there is bad... try working there. At this point in the economy, a job is a job, but bussing tables for said clientele is probably one of the worst jobs I'll ever have to put on a resume. There are screaming kids everywhere, and it's so hard to move around! (I gotta admit, I'm a sucker for the mac-n-cheese pizza, but that's about it.)

Chain: Pizzeria Uno (best deep-dish pizza I've ever had!)

Independent: There's this great little place close to where I live called Pastabilities. Even though they're a little on the expensive side, their meatball hoagies are divine, and the pizza is darn good too.

New favourite local: Pequod's in Skokie, just north of downtown Chicago. I have Cameron to thank for that last week; the place is smaller than the BAR next to it, and is practically in the middle of a wooded neighbourhood. That said, best deep-dish I've ever had. (Con to that is now I have a craving for it, sitting here six hours away and with my wisdom teeth freshly out. Damn.)

^I remember you telling me about it. I've never heard of it, nor have I been there. I guess Skokie really isn't that far from me, so maybe one of these days I'll give it a try. However I'm not a huge fan of deep dish.

My personal favorite is Roman Coin. It's a small chain (maybe 2 or 3 at the most), and I prefer their hand tossed pizzas over thin crust and deep dish.

National chain? Varies between Papa Johns and Dominos, only Domino's because they have good deep dish, and I'm a sucker for that stuff (and they have a great deal for my campus.)

Local chain? Dewey's. If you've ever experienced Dewey's, you know what I'm talking about. Southwest Chicken BBQ & Green Lantern ftw!

Hopefully future employers recognize the hardships you went through there and reward you

Being from a very big Italian area with many great family owned pizza places, it is considered a sin to go to Dominos or Pizza Hut, they are also much more expensive then the local places, while a large at Pizza Hut or Dominos may be the same price as a local place it is the size of a local large.

Chain: CPK .Admittedly not traditional pizza, but delicious nonetheless.

Local: Metro Pizza in Las Vegas. If I had been able to go to Grimaldi's in Brooklyn the day I was in NYC, my answer might be different, but I couldn't stand in line an hour and a half for lunch.
