^ Doubt it... The supports look too small to be a DM, not to mention Busch has a magical contract with B&M which prevents parks around BGW from building DMs.

^^ IT'S GONNA BE AN AQUATRAX!!

(6/1/09) For the past week or so I’ve been trying to track down any solid leads to a very disturbing rumor about a popular ride that could be leaving the Williamsburg park... and so far I’ve only met with silence. I’m not convinced this rumor is true so I’m going to keep digging until I find out more, but on the off chance that it is true, I feel everyone deserves a fair warning so you can start planning a trip to get your possible last ride in.

That said, the nasty rumor buzzing around the park is that this could be the last season for the Big Bad Wolf. While the coaster certainly isn’t as popular as it’s bigger and newer B&M cousins, Big Bad Wolf is still a very popular ride. On top of having a most interesting pedigree as a ride that started out under Schwarzkopf and ended as an Arrow Suspended Big Bad Wolf is generally considered to be the very best Suspended coaster ever created anywhere. For those reasons alone, I find it shocking that Busch Gardens would even consider removing this coaster, on top of the simply fact that Big Bad Wolf is the only true full scale Family Coaster they have in the park with a height limit of only 42 inches, compared with 48” for Nessie and 54” for Apollo, Alpengeist or Griffon. Personally, I know I was able to use Big Bad Wolf as a great transition coaster for my oldest son as he moved up away from the kiddie coasters and was ready to try something bigger but wasn’t 48” yet. Big Bad Wolf was the perfect kid, as a full scale awesome ride and I just can’t believe they would be so dumb as to remove it only to make room for a new access pathway to provide better access into the former Drachen Fire area for the rumored new land. There has got to be a way to keep the Wolf and add the new land, so I can only hope that this rumor is wrong wrong wrong... please let it be wrong. They wouldn’t dare... would they?

I pray they do not remove BBW.

I'm taking this with a big grain of salt until I see more evidence (as is Screamscape). I find it difficult to believe that BGW will be getting a new "country" until InBev sells off the parks. (A flyer swooping over the Rhine River would be pretty cool, though.)

All we can do is wait and see.

^^^Those look like the new Intamin supports. More squarish, like iSpeed.

Cool.

I would say you are right based on what iSpeed looks like. I would guess we are looking at an Intamin Launch coaster for KD then.

Looking at the pictures of Ispeed they are similar. But KD really does not need another launched coaster. I hope it is something different.

I do agree, seeing that this will take them back to four launches which is more than any park I can think of. However I am exited that this is looking more and more like an Intamin. It would be really great if we could see a megalite or maybe even just the return of a mega coaster. That would be great for KD, it's just what they need.

^ KD doesn't really need ANY coaster considering the fact that they got one two years ago. Most parks normally wait a few years before adding another huge coaster.

KD is the most spoiled park ever...

^ I hate the word "spoiled" in this context. No park is spoiled. Each park does what they think is best to sell tickets within whatever their budget is.

I hope PKD gets something great. I'm planning a PKD, SFA, BGW trip for next summer!

Some Six Flags parks got like 5 coasters in the past 10 years, and KI got Firehawk two years before Diamondback

^ Getting your Uncle's used car isn't the same as getting a new car...

So I can see this making good business sense...

Its been a long time since a truly new coaster.

KI got: Back Lot Stunt Coaster in 2005 (New)

Firehawk in 2007 (Used)

Diamondback in 2009 (New)

KD got:Back Lot Stunt Coaster in 2006 (New)

Dominator in 2008 (Used)

New coaster in 2010 (New)

Seems like the same time line for rides at the two parks.

So are you suggesting that you're opposed to a potentially great new coaster being installed just down the road, all because you feel the park is "spoiled?"

Sure, that makes sense.

As much as I would love my second homepark to get a new coaster, they've practically been getting new rides since 2001 on a yearly basis. There are plenty of other parks that deserve a major coaster than KD, like CGA, which hasn't gotten a major coaster since 2000 with Stealth and that ride was removed. Even CP doesn't receive rides on a yearly basis, and CP is CF's flagship park.

2001 - HS:XLC

2002 - Ricochet/Triple Spin

2003 - Drop Zone

2004 - Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion

2005 - Tomb Raider

2006 - Italian Job: Stunt Coaster

2007 - Water Park expansion

2008 - Dominator

2009 - Americana/El Dorado

2010 - ??

So yes... KD is very spoiled and doesn't really need another major coaster.

^Well you have to consider that only two of those (Dominator and Hypersonic) are large scale coasters aimed directly at thrill seeking guests, and both of them were not custom made for KD, With Dominator coming from Geauga and Hypersonic being a prototype design S&S first created in their backyard. However that’s besides the fact that Hypersonic is now gone leaving one major high thrill coaster built in the decade left.

I think its fine, really, I mean they are BGE’s closest competitor and they have really got to have some sort of great coaster to rank up against BGE’s artillery. Sure it might seem nicer to us if they gave it to a needier park, but it’s CF’s choice to give KD a new coaster, and theirs not much we can do about it.

They are a spoiled park. I guess they aren't satisfied with the world class um . . . what's it called? Dominator?

VF recently got renegade a few years ago & that's not a bad ride in itself....remember that, unlike SFI which plays favorites with it's parks at the expense of the rest of the chain CF bases their cap ex projects around the potential ROI of a new attraction.

MiA got Thunderhawk last year, which may not be a great addition in our eyes, but it's a huge addition for the park and the surrounding area. CGA was supposed to get a huge GCI woodie a few years ago, but the local businesses got their undies in a bunch about tat, as did the city council with that fiasco trying to get the new football stadium installed.

Cedar Fair has made a contract with B&M for a coaster at Kings Island.

Forgive me for this totally useless post, but I thought it was cool that the third post in this thread became a complete reality...how amazing right? heh heh heh

God I'm gonna get it

Cedar Point gets some sort of upgrade every year, whether it's a ride, new kiddie area, or renovation of one of their resort hotels. Kings Dominion isn't a large resort like Cedar Point, with many other things than "rides" to upgrade/add, so when they do receive an upgrade, as history has shown, it's usually in the form of a ride.

I believe a few years back, Cedar Point completely renovated and re-did Sandcastle Suites, which actually was a decently sized project, it just went mainly un-noticed and received little to no hype because it wasn't a ride. Same thing with their new offices this year.
