CpBluestreakCp Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Looks great, love the open area near the beach. Will look like you'll be able to get some good shots of Wicked Twister now from that vantage point.
rcjp Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Looks cool. I like the way it stands between gatekeeper and wicked twister. I guess it really will be possible to get some nice pics of twister.
kidcoaster 2 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 From Great Ohio Coaster Club. So, apparently we were mistaken. We spoke with Tony Clark after the event and he said it was okay to post the announcement now that everyone at the event knew. So, are you ready? Do you want to know? Okay, here it comes... all card carrying members of roller coaster clubs will be allowed to go to media day for GateKeeper. So, pack your bags and book your flight because you're invited. If you're not already a member, all you have to do is join. http://greatohiocc.org/join you must have a membership card to a coaster club with you the day of the event. Do not wait to join. We cannot guarantee last minute membership requests.
Yamez Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I was secretly hoping for a fountain. Still though, I wonder about what they're going to do with the old food stands. The blog post hints at them changing things up over there.
coasterbill Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 I'm glad you'll have a nice view of the beach while in line for Gatekeeper. I love the Wicked Twister queue for that same reason.
Philrad71 Posted March 16, 2013 Posted March 16, 2013 Im thinking maybe he shouldn't ride roller coasters no matter what kind of restraints it has. LOL! My BF has been riding coasters for many years including Kingda Ka, Dragster, I305, & El Toro as well as some of the most painful wooden coasters on earth like SoB, Hurler and Mean Streak, so I doubt this one is going to cause him too much harm. I was just worried if the restraints might restrict his chest too much and take some of the fun out of the ride. But by the sounds of it, the restraints seem to effect the petite or thinner riders so it actually might cause more grief for my 110 lb sister.

Not sure if I can make it due to work, but sounds like it will be fun. Philrad71: Has your BF ridden Maverick? Lots of peeps complain about the over the shoulder restraints and the way it sometimes presses against your chest on that ride.
Voxelmatic Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 That...actually looks pretty cool! It would be a bit better if the sign was facing the station, but this is good enough.
rcjp Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Does anyone happen to know when the test runs are supposed to start?
TyRush Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Once they finish trains and wiring, I would say as soon as the weather permits!
DougMJr Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 This thing is so freaking majestic! I am debating about taking the 5 hour drive and go there for the media preview day. I really need to renew my ClubTPR membership anyway. Even the seagulls stop to admire Gatekeeper! "Mine, mine, mine, MINE!"
Astrojack Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 You don't need to worry about muffleheads on the front seat of Gatekeeper, seagulls are the number one concern
3Mutts Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 That plaza is pretty much what I expected in the begining (The Leviathan like sign in a circular plaza). Cedar Fair really is begining to put more effort into thier entrances to rides.
Brassinthegrass Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I'm glad! I always hated then you build this enourmous ride and then the entrance to the thing is a tiny overhead sign....
thepoint4life23 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 I'm going to try to make it to media day.Once more info please let me know
El loco1 Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Does anyone happen to know when the test runs are supposed to start? the park said the first week of April is when testing will start.
OnPointTony Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 Hey guys - we'll have more info for Robb soon. The event will be open to valid club members only. But if you're marking calendars, do so for Thursday, May 9!

But if you're marking calendars, do so for Thursday, May 9! So basically, I would say if you're interested, it might not be a bad idea to sign up for Club TPR! http://www.clubtpr.com
Topdrag Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 I am definitely looking forward to seeing this coaster start making its first test cycles. I would love to go to media day but we will see if I have the money and time to do it. Also, it’s great to see you back on the blog Tony! Hope to see you on the midways this season when I make my trip out there!

traincrossin Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Looking at the webcam, I think they're loading trains onto the transfer track.
TyRush Posted March 21, 2013 Posted March 21, 2013 Looking at the webcam, I think they're loading trains onto the transfer track. Woohoo!
