Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I'm glad I got to ride it this year. It was actually one of the best non-coaster rides at CP, and it never had a line, which was one of the best things about it. It will definitely be missed. This just leaves me wondering, what are they going to be able to put in its place? Demon Drop doesn't really have too large of a foot print.

Did they happen to mention how heavy that train is?

OK these are freaking cool. https://cedarpointonlineshop.com/

Made it out to Cedar Point this past weekend, October 17th-18th with my mom and dad to visit my sister working at the park. My sister works at Dorney, but since they closed early, a bunch of full time

Good point, obviously the only ride that could fit in there would be a flat, but I think that the park may expand the game area near there or add a restaurant?

I am greatly saddened by this news. Demon Drop was one of my to-do list things for whenever I go up to the Point. I'm gonna miss it next year, though I guess that frees up time for more re-rides on Blue Streak and Maverick

Even though I'm not a fan of having Millennium Force running over the ride, I am still a fan of the rides location. Most of the log flumes I've come across are out in the park, and most look pretty ugly. Shoot the Rapids reminds me of the log flume at SFSTL where it is hidden in the forest, and it should add to the ride, especially with the ride's theme. Also, the new log flume track looks really good, certainly a lot better than that of the old Arrow log flumes.

I think they started construction so slow because of its location. During the haunt, one of the mazes (also the best one), went all over Millenium island and near the proposed site I think.

This was a comment from the Cedar Point Blog.

With the ride going on to Millennium Island, will that impact Terror Island either this season or next? Or will this Fright Zone be discontinued?

From Tony:

The ride will have little to no impact on Terror Island. It will likely not have an impact on Fright Zone either.

I haven't seen anything mentioned about this yet, and if it has, I'm sorry.

Anyway, I found this kind of interesting.

Tony & Tyler posted a new Blog on the CP website that said Demon Drop will now be going to Dorney Park and not Knott's Berry Farm as was originally planned.

Here's a link to the blog which also has a bit more info on other projects as well.

I find it interesting that they were originally planning on moving Demon Drop to Knotts but then changed their minds. I wonder what prompted them to make this change?

We also have an update on where it's going. We can confirm that it's not going to Knott's Berry Farm in California as originally stated.

After consideration of the aesthetics, geography and use of the land near the proposed ride area, it was decided that it will be better suited for our sister park, Dorney Park in Allentown, PA.

Info on Coastermania 2010 is up. New this year is "behind the scenes" tours of Maverick and MF on Sat. morning, and 2 hours of ERT on MF, which will be nice. Hopefully will be a warm morning as ERT on Shoot the Rapids is also scheduled for Sat. morning, and for some odd reason, ERT on Mantis on Friday night.

Hopefully Big Mike can make it in 2010!

Along with their last video they also posted some pics of the boats and have said that there will be no seatbelts. Right now it looks like they're just puring a lot of concrete.

Also, the final piece of steel from Demon Drop was removed from Cedar Point and is on its way to Dorney.

Last thing. They've been posting some great HD POV footage of their coasters over on their YouTube channel.

It's so weird seeing that space with Demon Drop gone.

The boats look all right, not sure if I like the wood texture though. It just seems to resemble a viking theme or a Thanksgiving theme rather then a frontier one. Maybe it will look more in place once it's blended in with the aesthetics of the ride.
