UrbanLegend Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Although it'll probably mean a forceless ride, I love how every element of this coaster is so big. It just looks really visually impressive.
Chroniq Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Just felt this thread needed the most epic "gatekeeper" reference ever put to film.
MillenniumCP Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 I am super excited for this ride. I am looking forward to taking pictures of it just as much as riding it. I like the way the construction area's dirt blends nicely with the beach sand. It would be cool if they left the beach facing side supports under sand.

COASTER FREAK 11 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 ^^I must respectfully disagree: We all have opinions. Wasn't saying mine is right, but I can daydream based on the photos just posted. Sorry, I should have said "supports surrounded sand". Seeing that Wicked Twister has sand around it's supports, there may be a chance it could happen. He wasnt talking to you. He was talking to the guy 2 posts above you.. that's what ^^ means.
MillenniumCP Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Sorry, not on forums much. Thank you for clarification though.
firewalk13 Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 mmm, there's station porn in that post.....
thrilljunkie Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Don't have a clue how it will ride, as I've yet to even ride a Wing coaster yet, but there's no question that this thing looks absolutely stunning! I am in awe of the colors and its placement along the lake. Looking forward to returning to the Point (and the Breakers Friday's ) this year to take Gatekeeper for a spin! Rode X- Flight in Chicago. It was very smooth and fast. The best part is this Gate Keeper is quite a monster compared to that. If Gate Keeper is as smooth as X Flight it will surpass Millenium Force and Top Thrill Dragster in attendence.

If Gate Keeper is as smooth as X Flight it will surpass Millenium Force and Top Thrill Dragster in attendence. That's kinda a stretch. Maverick had come close, but I don't think it surpasses MF or TTD. I definitely see it passing up Raptor and Maverick though. Who knows? Maybe after opening year the lines will stay as long as they will be in 2013. That would be impressive.
CoasterGuy06 Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 If nothing else, Gatekeeper will have higher capacity than either Millennium Force/Maverick/TTD, and likely will have higher uptime. That's a good recipe to beat them out in overall ridership, especially in its first season.
jray21 Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 It really is a great looking ride. I still have never ridden an wing-rider. Maybe this one will be my first!
Coaster Curt Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Really looking forward to riding Gatekeeper in May, at least a couple times. I hope the lines stay long at Gatekeeper because that will shorten my wait time on the other awesome rides in the park
DougMJr Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Yeah, I hope that Gatekeeper will help take care of the morning rush so I can get my rides on Mav, Milli, and TTD first.
Schotcher Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Yeah, I hope that Gatekeeper will help take care of the morning rush so I can get my rides on Mav, Milli, and TTD first. When it comes to the GP: TTD > Everything else
11slataus Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 ^ Although Magnum still gets the best ridership in the whole park.
Coaster Curt Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Seriously, Magnum has the highest amount of riders? What are the top ten rides in the park according to rides given per year?
Koasterking48 Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Magnum is a people eater funny thing is Gemini was the highest capacity roller coaster in the world back in the day. 6 trains that fit 30 people on each one wasn't just a people eater. It was a capacity monster
Carnage Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 ^ Back when it did a decent job at racing as well. I can fondly remember doing repeated laps on Gemini in a row. It's been a long time since I've had interest or ability to do it.
Koasterking48 Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 I honestly find the ride butter-smooth. Other than the final helix, it's a very enjoyable ride.
JonnyRCT3 Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 She's a great coaster. That helix is a reminder that this thing is fun to the end. ^ Although Magnum still gets the best ridership in the whole park. What do you expect, it's not an Intamin. So it is actually going to be a thing called "open".
TyRush Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 I could really see this becoming in the top 2 in popularity at CP if its a good experience. Since B&M coasters are 99% reliable most of the time, it will be open much more than TTD/MF.
Koasterking48 Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Gatekeeper will, no doubt have a longer line than MF and TTD, but I'm just wondering what happens in 2014 and beyond.
