The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

Just got back from my trip to the Mountain. X was closed and the lady that was blocking the entrance said not to expect it to open today. She said it was possible it would open tommorrow but she doubted it. (hope for the best!!!) Their whole testing process was wierd. They sent a train up to the top and then it sat there for three or four hours, starting at around 10:30. They finally checked the restraints and then sent it down at about 1:00 in the Afternoon. Then they sent the other train and it stopped a quarter of the way up the lift.

EDIT: The train was still stuck there when we left by the way

Anyway, we got in almost everything with a less than half-hour wait (Tatsu's wait the first time was about an hour). By the afternoon, Goliath (yes, it was open) and Scream were a walk on with dual rides for all who wanted them. Batman and Riddlers surprisingly had a short line for each. Riddlers was about 30 minutes and Batman was about 15. Tatsu was the last ride we went on with a wait of about half an hour for the front row. Oh yeah we did Viper too. Front row, five minute wait. not too bad.

It was very wierd, all the rides were extremely smooth compared to the last time I went on them. It was freaky.

Sorry, I dont have any pictures of stuff, I was too lazy to actually take any important ones.

Sounds like something went wrong during block check.

Yup...

I'll just tell you guys what happened before all other 'rumors' come in. Last phase of block check was being done prior to the park opening. And upper lift wasn't resetting. A train was stuck at upper lift for around 2-3 hours. Then we dispatched another train and it went about 20-50 feet up the lift. Around 3:30 or so we finally were able to get both trains and restarted block check. At 4:00 we opened up the ride and everything ran smooth since then. Usually X closes its line one hour prior to the park's opening however in this case the park decided to close the bridge at 6. So yeah, rough re-opening for X. But hey, at least they got it open before the park closed.

And yes, Goliath was open today.

I got on the last train of the day. Same old ride, but it was nice to get back on.

Two trains running, and the crew pleasantly supprised me. They were working at a nice safe speed, and some were even interacting with the guests. Despite the rough technical problems, the crew definatly made up for it with service. (Thought they only had to interact w/ guests from 4 to 7.

Nice start X crew.

Please keep it up.

Eric I am very offended by your reply. You do not know me, therefore, you have no reason to accuse me of spending my time "playing on computers & video games", nor am I a "youngin'". I'm an outdoor person. I grew up not being allowed tv, telephone, movies, or video games. I grew up going fishing, camping, hiking, etc. & family vacations to state & nat'l parks every year & would rather do those things. The fact that you're a "middle-aged diabetic" means nothing. Having diabetes is tough (it runs big time in my family) but it really has little to do w/anything. Yes I know it can cause circulatory problems plus a host of other things but if one takes care of him/herself a person can be very active. Now, if I HAVE to explain myself as to why I have difficulty w/that hill, it's because I tore up my knee pretty badly & have little stability in my knee, knee braces don't even work as I would need a special-made one which insurance won't pay for so I need surgery but unable to get it at this time, therefore, I can't walk, sit, or stand for any length of time, nor can I get around very well at all w/o having to sit or rest, prop my foot up to rest my knee every 5-10 min & my knee swells up the size of a large grapefruit & causes me excrutiating pain w/my bones grinding together. But I goto parks & try to do other things anyway even if it takes me all day to get from one side of the park to the other. I used to work out, ALL the time, run 3 flights of stairs several times/day, etc. but I can't do that now so if I need the OE to assist me to get to the top of that hill, I'm using it. Now, I'm sure you didn't mean to be offensive but you should stop to think first that a person writing a certain post in reference to something such as this may not be as "able" as you are.

^Coasterkat...you're new here. Eric is a very valued member of our community and you're the one coming off rude.

He wasn't calling you out specifically, he was making a generalization. Like the disclaimer on our site says, you should have a sense of humor and a thicker skin if you want to continue to post here.

More update stuff:

Thrill Shot is scheduled for a Saturday February 10 reopening; Ninja is finally being repainted (bright fire-engine red).

Any proof of this? Not saying your lying, but id like to see some photos or something of the sort. Interested in the new color scheme

Yep, Ninja is finally being repainted. Next I hear is actually going to be Superman. In fact one of the new paints schemes that they're looking at are red, blue, and yellow. Like a lot of the other Superman rides. But that'll occur after Ninja.

I have absolutely no reason to lie to anybody that a ride is being painted. And the color scheme isn't new. It's the same as the one it had when it opened in 1988. It's just getting a fresh coat, that's all.

I hope that's not true. Superman The Escape would be an incredible eyesore with those three colors considering the lattice design of its structure.
