The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Via Screamscape:

New Coaster / Cyclone Bay Update - Rumor - (8/27/18) I'm not sure how legit this rumor is, but according to the latest word sent my way the new coaster coming to Six Flags Magic Mountain may not be S&S or Mack at all... but would you believe an... RMC? I'm really not sure if this kind of thing would be happening so soon, but the source of this rumor claims it will be the first RMC Raptor coaster that will also feature dual launches and essentially act like a mini steel version of Twisted Colossus that would send the riders around a second time on a second section of track for racing/dueling action that would include interlocking Dive Loops and Immelmans and a section that looks similar to the much photographed inversions of Twisted Colossus where the one track rolled over into an inversion right over the top of the other.

I usually trust Screamscape (to an extent) but that just sounds ridiculous. I know SFMM isn't prone to logic, but why would they make a major investment that's so darn similar to their current coaster? I know it's not unheard of in the Six Flags chain for a park to add a ride that we see as atrociously similar to an existing ride, but most GP don't notice the similarities.

Half these "rumors" sound ridiculous. I guess we'll find out in.... 2 days? But NO MATTER WHAT it ends up being, some enthusiasts are going to be butthurt that they weren't "right" in their pipe-dream predictions. And then chaos will ensue.

^ I don't think the majority of SFMM guests will care. The launch, combined with the "single rail" novelty will look pretty interesting in that back corner. To me this makes more sense than trying to sync up two trains on a lift hill.

But um...capacity?

In my own opinion, I'm doubting a LOT of these rumors. Mack? TRex? Raptor? Vekoma? S&S? Nah.

Well it's gotta be one of those...lol You've named just about every company SF can afford to work with. Except maybe Mack...

Not quite every... With the park's solid partnership regarding FT, I wouldn't be surprised if they went with Premier again (As redundant as it may seem). FYI, I don't know ANYTHING and am not trying to start another unhelpful rumor, just posting my thoughts.

TBF, S&S wouldn't really surprise me either, but I am guessing S&S for SFGAm and not SFMM. (Although I'd prefer if the two parks switched)

Overall, it's pretty exciting how nothing substantial has really gotten leaked between these two parks

I love Backlot Stunt Coaster...

+1

Backlot Stunt Coaster is seriously one of my favorite rides at KI!! I would GLADLY welcome the addition to SFMM!!

Backlot Stunt Coaster is a better ride than a huge portion of coasters at SFMM.

Add me to the list of Backlot Stunt Coaster fans. I'd be happy with any of the rumored coasters that have surfaced so far, but at the same time, I like how there hasn't been any substantial evidence for any of them (ie., track sightings, RMC employees sneaking around the back of the park, etc.), which is keeping everyone guessing.

Please someone with one of those purchased RMC shirts, go to SFMM in the next two days and sneak around the back of the park to stir up more controversy.

I have one. Maybe I'll make a trip down to the park tomorrow with a clipboard and tape measure, and sneak around Adrenaline Alley.

Look for me in the next Park Bros. video.

You will enter legend status if you do this, especially if you end up on Screamscape or Park Bros.
