The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

While it may be the more "portable" version of the ride, they are still pouring concrete footers for it, so it's obviously going to be there for a little while.

Looks like it is just going to be one flat slab of cement for the ride. No actual footers into the ground. So it can still easily be removed and the site cleared again if need be...

Apparently, there's a Yolo county in North Cal... Even better, their bus service is called Yolobus.

YOLOcoaster should be built there.

Everyone hop on the Yolobus to ride to the Yolocoaster

Well im back from my trip to the LA area on saturday the 8th me, my dad, his cousin and his son (my 2nd cousin) *finally* used my VIP passes at SFMM. We drove out of the LA area at like 8;300 and got to the park at 9:20, found the VIP spaces right outside of the ticket booths and waited till 10:20 for our VIP tour guide Joanna (I think.)

So she met us in front of will call 10 mins or so before the gates opened and from there we went to. (Note: my dad never went on any ride but the bumper cars and all rides were front seats, no waiting in line.)

Goliath which we rode twice in a row without getting off, Lex luther which again we rode twice, Scream once for me, twice for my extended family, colossus once for me, twice for extended family. We then stopped at Ben and Jerrys by colossus/scream where everything was free of charge for us. (Unlimited snacks FTW!)

It was then off to Batman which I didn't go on extended family rode twice, Riddler which they rode twice then off to a free lunch at moose burger lodge. After lunch we headed back to where we left off, with me grabbing a extra ride on Lex and the parks poor garlic fries (horrible, seemed like they used garlic powder on it!)

After that we took a spin on Green Lantern once for me after being castrated by it and only 1 flip. Again extended family, went on it twice. Off to Apocalypse where I finally ride it twice as well as Superman:EFK. Then Tatsu which we rode once, extended family went twice on Viper and Rev. me and the tour guide told them they aren't good and they are shakey headbangers. Then finally X2 which we rode once in front.

We got on ride photos on all the rides that took photo's at least when I got on. I'll scan them soonish and upload them, look freaking retarded on Goliath.

and well over 100+ dollars in food not to mention the free photos. All in all even in early dec using VIP (free due to a sweepstake) was well worth it. The crowds didn't seem that massive as summertime ones but some kids had to wait 25 mins for superman when we just walked on to the next train in the front. Its not worth the 299.99 per VIP pass IMHO unless its summer, on a long day and you rarely go to SFMM.

TLDR.

Ride total for the group.

Goliath twice

Lex 3 times.

scream twice

collsus twice

Batman twice

riddler twice

bumper cars (sandblasters) 1

Apocalypse twice

S:EFK twice

Rev twice

Viper twice

Tatsu once

X2 once

I'm the one in the A's shirt, looking stupid. <_> the two in front are my dad's cousin and my 2nd cousin who was barely tall enough to ride everything at the park.

Hey, does anyone know how the no rehire status works?

I got fired back in June 2011. I was interested in reapplying at the park, this time in a different role in human resources, not as a ride operator. It actually relates to my major and what I would like to do later down the line after I graduate.

I assume I still have no rehire status because I tried going through the application process for this job and as soon as I inputted my personal details, my application process was abruptly ended.

Anyone know when my rehire status will be reopened for consideration? Do I even have a shot at this job considering I've been fired in a role of employment already at Magic Mountain?

Thanks.

As I recall if you are fired from the park you're essentally done working there. I believe the official stance was 2 years. That being said I worked at the park 8 years ago so things may have since changed.

^Maybe SFMM has changed their ways and will try and open it up in Spring?... yeah, I guess that does sound crazy.

So I think I've finally figured out my opinion of Full Throttle; I'm disappointed in SFMM's decisions to make the ride so short and have a pointless backwards launch that will probably kill the pacing of the ride. But ultimately, the ride should be awesome for what is is, and Premier makes great coasters, I just rode Superman. Hopefully the top hat will will airtime!

Although the backwards launch seems kinda pointless, you have to admit it will still be a fun part of the ride(mostly just for the GP), Even though it does seem to kill the pacing.
