The Six Flags Magic Mountain (SFMM) Discussion Thread

Then why do you live in the US???? It's because it's the best....FACT!

Stop traveling in the USA then...

Responses like yours are certainly one good reason to leave the country.

^Meh, no worries, it's obviously just a troll.

Seriously, anyone who knows us or travels a lot realizes that America is a really good country but has quite a few big problems. The more you travel, the more obvious these problems become. Other countries also have similar or other problems, no one is perfect! (Except Japan...they're damn close!)

Not a good day for trees and six flags parks. We just missed getting hit by a falling tree branch at six flags St louis. Ironically, it was right by the ninja coaster.

Before we went on the ride, the branch was not there. When we got off the ride it was there. The scary part was that we were using the drinking fountains in this area just minutes before riding ninja.

Stay away from the darker corners of the internet, my friend.

Gotta be the Samurai. They're hiding in forests trying to kill Ninjas.

That would be crazy if there were two people injured by falling trees on rides named ninja at two parks 1800 miles apart on the same day.

But seriously, glad you weren't hurt.

Which made me think! Are the operations at Fuji-Q better, worse, or on par with Magic Mountain?

Magic Mountain's operations are slow, but Fuji-Q appears to be actively pursuing new methods to maximize wait times. It's a perfect combination of low capacity coasters, slow operators, bizarre loose article and weather policies, and exceptionally inefficient loading procedures. On the plus side, it's in Japan.

FACT! Americans will sue for anything... ANYTHING whether it's frivolous or not. If someone thinks they can get money, attention, a movie-deal, whatever, just by filing a lawsuit, they will. And it's certainly one of the reasons why we prefer traveling in Europe and Asia over the USA. Idiocracy has not set in as much in those territories.

FACT! The last two pages of discussions about whether or not spilling hot coffee on yourself is a legitimate lawsuit or not is dumb... however still better than talking about Magic Mountain!

Sorry for getting things sidetracked there. I have never been to SFMM but plan a visit in April and after what what I have heard from others I see where that last comment comes from. It amazes me that a park wouldn't even put on their best faces for a large group of enthusiasts visiting for some free good publicity. I realize we might not make or break a park (we come anyway to ride it once), but how many people going somewhere on vacation with their family hasn't used Google to find a theme park at the destination and ended up on these boards? If you search for SFMM this is more or less the first you find. Crazy.

Went to the park yesterday. I haven't gone in about a year but it was interesting. To start off with the positive stuff, Bug Bunny World looked really good! I'm happy they brought some life in to that area once again! The FT Plaza got some fresh paint and looked really good as well. I must say, the FT Nights show was actually a really fun show! They had some great bands and it was just something cool to watch when you're waiting in line for FT. Operations throughout the park weren't amazing but they were bearable. Lines weren't over 45 minutes throughout the park and it was a decent day. Random note but there was this one employee at that candy shop near Apocalypse and he was probably the most friendly employee at the park. He was extremely nice and it was really cool meeting him. I wish I got his name though.

I have alot of negative/nit picky stuff but I'm not going to go in to that. The park has just really gone down hill. Overall a very 'meh' day.

^Yes, they finally repainted YOLOplaza and fixed the YOLOmist! Yaaaaay! On a side note, they were not using rows 3 or 7 on either train on YOLOcoaster yesterday.

And, for a Saturday, the park was really light! None of the lines exceeded 45 minutes, including Goliath, YOLO (which is only 45 min with a full queue anyways), Tatsu, and X2!

And they have started assigning rows on Colossus! So I only waited about 10 minutes for it instead of the 30-40 I have been recently.

It was a good day and Superman is running both sides again! I literally walked on midday!

When I was there a few weeks ago they were running both sides of Superman and I noticed that the right side (closest to YOLO) consistently did not go as high as the other side which looked like it was hitting the brakes at the top every time.

I wonder why they weren't using rows 3 or 7 on Full Throttle? Sounds like you had a pretty good day

I wonder if they're doing this to prevent the LSMs from overheating....

Yesterday the side closest to YOLO was going MUCH higher than the left side. The right side was consistently touching the brakes while the left was barely reaching the red part. That's strange!

I think you're right! Last weekend when all the problems were happening it was really hot and I don't think the LSMs could cool down fast enough. This happened all last summer as well, actually to the point where they'd run it from opening to 12:30 and then shut it down until 5 or so. They did that all the time last year.

It never went down yesterday while I was there with the empty rows, so I bet that was it.

Interesting, but glad they choose to run the train partially empty rather than shutting it down for 4 hours or having one train op.

I wonder if building a tunnel over the launch section would help keep the LIMs cool? It would also add a little bit fun-wise to the ride
