P. 2239: Superman: Escape from Krypton permanently closed

^ My pass was issued at SFDK so I can't see SFMM benefits, but if it's for July the last couple days havent been too busy but it looks to be extremely busy today. Of course Saturday is usually the busiest day of the week. YOLOcoaster was down earlier and now has a full queue, Tatsu is currently down. Reported 90+ minute waits at multiple rides, but theyre just reports. Ninja was deserted when it opened this morning, I'm interested to know how busy it is now.

EDIT: The park is indeed crazy busy today. Over an 60-120 waits for every coaster except Revolution/Scream/Viper/etc and the line of cars waiting to get in is still stretching almost to The Old Rd!

How long were the waits for Rev/Scream/Viper? I am getting the flash pass tomorrow. Can you run over to Rev/Scream/Viper between wait times for flash pass?

^ If you have a gold flash pass you normally wont even have that much time. Usually once you check in and scan your pass, if you reserve your next ride immediately it will be ready before you can finish your current ride and get to the next one. Its usually only 10-15 mins for the ride to be ready for most coasters. Water rides usually run 45-60 though in the summer.

The waits for the less popular coasters today were reported I think I saw 5-15 for Ninja, 15 for Revolution, 20 for Scream. YOLO had 90, X2 and Goliath had 120+.

I saw some photos and they did some serious tree trimming on the hill. Some (not all) trees were completely removed, others were trimmed to the point that there was just the trunk but no branches to speak of. It's not barren, but you do notice right away that there's a lot less shade and Ninja and Jet Stream are much more visible than they were previously.

On one hand I get the better safe than sorry point of view, and I don't disagree with it, but if you look at this objectively three coasters have been operating in there for decades and it hasnt happened before, and nothing has changed so I dont see where all of a sudden it's more dangerous than before unless something is going on with the health of the trees or the integrity of the soil that didn't exist before. There were workers on the hill today that appeared to be testing both of those things.

Thought I'd give an update:

Yesterday My girlfriend and I went to Hurricane Harbor.

We got there around 10:40 and it easily took 20 min to get in. (I Unfortuantely hit traffic so I didn't get to get in early with my Gold Season Pass.

We immediately ran for the Gold Qbot Fast pass. Since we had season passes it was only $40!! (Sarcasm) but honestly it was worth every penny.

They put a 10$ extra old on you card to make sure you return it.

Then we reserved Tornado. The line for the first hour of Fast pass is set to 0 So we ran reserved tornado and then went on the bamboo mats. as well as the Sidewinder. We got to jump all those rides lower queues with no wait for the first 1hr.

11:30 we got off and reserved the family raft. It was a 20 min wait by then but we reserved it near Tornado so by the time we went to the bathroom and got a drink it was time to ride.

Then we picked up our Raft (I purchased the Season Raft Rental add-on for $35. Which makes a lot of sense since I have gone already 5 days this season)

As the day progressed the lines grew longer and longer. Eventually Tornado and Bonzi Pipelines Reached 1.5 hr waits for people w/o gold passes. Our time was 40 min which was a perfect amount of time to grab lunch or play in the wave pool while we waited. Sincerely beat waiting in the hot lines cause we were able to play in the "no wait ' attractions although there was hardly any toom to float on the lazy river.

We had lunch around 1:30 and they had Hawaiian Pizza for a change which they let me get with my Season Dinning Pass.

We ended up up going at 5pm (It was cold and even rainy) and returning our fast pass and our Raft and they gave us 2 free medium drinks for returning our raft. ( I guess since they didn't do a cash deposit any more since they have the raft pass it would be possible to profit from it).

We decided to hop on over to Magic Mountain for the Hypnosis show. For those of you that don't know Magic Mountain usually books a girl by the name of Suzy Haner. She is amazing and has you shiting your pants your laughing so hard. But Suzy was away preforming else ware so they booked a guy by the name of KERRY SHARP who was horriable. He took 25 min of his hr show hypnotizing them and left the audience bored. By the time he had them hypnotized many in the audience have already left. (Id say 35%).

AVOID HIS SHOW AT ALL COSTS. I Stayed for another 15 min and his jokes weren't funny.

^ Suzy Haner is currently at the California State Fair, for anyone else who's in Sacramento, she's playing every night at 5 7 and 9. Her show is indeed hilarious most of the time. She said the other day that she will be back at SFMM as soon as the state fair is over.

...the line tends to grow faster than they can board riders.

How is this any different than any regular SFMM day?

I get that you're trying to take a jab at SFMM ops like everyone does but it is different. Riders have been reporting 2 hr waits for Ninja today which probably means the upper queue is mostly full, and that's not a regular day. The rest of the park is busier than usual but not "Key Club" busy, its looks like typical-summer-saturday busy except on a Sunday.

Having only one train really slows down ops like nothing else, and this is (duration wise) a relatively long ride with two chain lifts.

It's unfortunate that only one train is available but we can't really lay blame down too hard here right? Kind of a freak event, I'm impressed it's up again at all so quickly. Not that typically praise SF ops.

I'm sure the second train took quite a beating, and I wonder if replacement parts might be quite tricky to dig up? I tried ebaying for Arrow suspended coaster fairing and got no hits

^It is true that they HAD 4 trains. Now they only have three.

Trains 2 and 3 are the only ones that have been operating for the past decade or so, with train 1 sitting on the transfer rotting / being used for parts.

From what I'm hearing, there was a lot of damage to train 3 from the accident and it is probably done for good. I heard that they had to cut the train off the rails in order to take it off the track. This will probably become the new donor train.

I also heard they plan to take train 1 off the transfer after a decade and refurbish the whole thing so that Ninja can have two operable trains in the future, but if anyone has ever seen train 1 lately, they will know that it will take a really long time to refurbish that thing.

Just what I've heard.

Why is only one train available? I thought that ninja had four trains, is that not true?

That would make sense. Good question then. Perhaps the most worn trains have parts that SFMM considers unridable condition. But I've only been a casual visitor to this park, haven't taken a good look.

Maybe they can Frankenstein a second train by using the operable train that was wrecked and replace the first couple of cars with refurbed cars from Train 1. I'm impressed how fast it reopened, thought it would be done for the season at minimum.

^ But in all seriousness I'm sure that's what theyre going to do. I think at some point they're going to also have to either buy a used train from another park or get some parts from S&S because after the second train is done they will probably be pretty low on parts.

When Kings Island crashed a Top Gun train into a parked maintenance truck in July of 2002, they had to replace 3 or 4 cars as well as check the rest of the train for damage. The ride was down to one train for the season. (the train reappeared opening day of 2003).

So, they "probably" will get a couple of new cars by next season, depending who can make them.

Uhm...guys...this is SFMM we are talking about. They'll run with one train until they absolutely have no choice but to spend money for new parts or a new train.

But that was when Arrow was still in business.
