2006 Golden Ticket Awards
nemesis-storm replied to coasterdave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree with comments made by Robb & others that this poll is primarily there as a marketing tool. Just as an example on some parks brochures, websites etc it will state "Winner of xx number of golden tickets". In my view it's the same as a park saying they have fastest, tallest, longest, highest of something and we all know very well that's not the case. There just there to get people through there gates. As we are Theme Park & coaster enthusiasts & single minded individuals we are going to agree & disagree with some of these results. Again covered by Robb already thats why Mitch's poll is one of the best. Paul 'I look forward to the TPR awards' Chapman -
I'm personally pretty 'hyped' about this coaster, even more so than when SheiKra was first announced. It's the parks first coaster since Apollo's Chariot & I'm sure it will pretty darn good. To all those people moaning about it *just* having 2 Immelmann inversion's. Compare it to the 'Grand-Daddy' of the B&M Dive Machines, 1 certain coaster called Oblivion & then say Griffon doesn't do much

Tibidabo Theme Park!
nemesis-storm replied to Ryan King's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah I went there in June, it's an okay park. They were just starting to clear & flatten the land. The coaster is going on the lower level of the park, close to the log flume. I suspect it to be a roller skater coaster or maybe something similar to Oki-Doki at Bobbejaanland -
1980's Coaster Specials were Cheez-whiz...

OMFG ! All of those clips were awesome, thanks for sharing them all with us. Even the slightly incorrect 'History of rollercoasters' was very enjoyable. I can see next years TPR video contest having a parody or two of these clips. Couple of questions What happened to the pink 'Care Bear' cuddly toy in clip one ?, the dude had the bear at start, he seems to drop it & at the end it's back in his hands Is Mr Zombie, Meatloaf ? Again awesome clips ! -

I also think it's highly likely that Duinrell will get one of these models of Eurofighters, as the stats RCDB quote are very similar to this type. Possibly, the Eurofighter that's going to Adventure Island in Southend UK will one also or close to it. As the log flume the coaster is rumoured to replaced is not very big. I was only looking on the Gerstlauer website on Tuesday night about this coaster too.

Post your milestone coasters
nemesis-storm replied to bgwfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
#1 - No idea, but as a guess I would say something at Alton Towers (The Beast, The 4 man-bob or The Alton Mouse) #50 - No idea #100 - No idea #200 - I think it was Euro-Mir or Euro Sat at Europa Park #250 - Thunder Run @ SFKK #300 - Racing at Bakken (See the pic below ) Currently I'm at 342 with the last new credit was Tibidabo Express at Tibidabo (Yeah I do count powered coasters) All the kid behind me is thinking about is when his he going to get his go -
Can it get any worse for Thorpe Park this year ?, with Stealth being down and now Nemesis Inferno being closed with problems. I just checked the parks website www.thorpepark.co.uk and it states that "The entire park is now closed due to total power failure" Paul 'At least they are telling people' Chapman

Roughest Wooden Coaster, without a doubt it's Son of Beast. Roughest Steel coaster, a little harder to decide, so I'm gonna say it's a tie between The Ultimate at Lightwater Valley & Goudurix at Parc Asterix

First of all, Adventure Island is not a kiddie park. True it's not in the league of Thorpe Park etc, I would call it more a 'family' park. I'm really pleased it hear this news. The park requires a new coaster & I'm sure this will bring more visitors to the place. Also Eurofighters have quite a low height requirement, I would say the same as a Maurer Söhne spinning coaster. Also I would say Dragon's Claw is the parks most intense ride there currently Dragon's Claw

Any other theme parks near London?

There's also Brighton Pier, not exactly London I know... but if your thinking about Margate, Brighton is a similar distance & Journey time by train. -
Photo Trip Report: SFKK, Holiday World and Beech Bend
nemesis-storm replied to sfne2005's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Some great pictures there ... Chang looks good with it's repaint. I did'nt think Chang was too bad, It was less painfull than Mantis at Cedar Point. Where's the pictures of wooden coasters at SF:KK ? Also I do hope Beech Bend does well with Kentucky Rumbler. -
LOL Yeah I totally agree Elissa. I asked the ride op to take my picture, just as he was about to take the photo I pulled out the piece of paper. After taking the pic, he asked 'why the 300?" & off course I told him why ... He replied back with "Oh.... er congratulations" Also I'm only following yourself & Robb's fine example in credit whoring Yeah that kid's face behind me is classic , I think he's more 'hurry up taking the picture, so I can get my go.." I would'nt call it deliberate that Racing was my 300th credit .. lets say more planned. I was at 292 before my Copenhagen trip, remember that I was able to get all of the 4 coasters at Tivoli, the night before. I was very keen to get the Scenic Railway & the Mine train coaster at Bakken right away, so left Racing or the Tivoli. So the Tivoli was #299, Racing was #300 Paul 'Had to ride plenty of Pinfari big apples & Tivoli's to get the 300' Chapman

Yes I had a good trip, thank you. I did decide to go for a 'multi ride' wristband at Tivoli Gardens, for the Friday. The park was pretty busy on the Friday evening, but I managed to get 5 go's on Dæmonen & 6 on Rutschebanen. I was able to get my 'moneys worth' on the Friday evening & again on the Sunday before flying home. Err yes, I'm offically a coaster whore I managed 1 go on both 'Tivoli' coasters. The ride op at Tivoli did'nt mind at all, the ride op on the one at Bakken had a small smile as I went onto the coaster. How else was would I of been able to reach my 300 credit. Yes Racing at Bakken was my 300th credit
