  1. You're putting way too much thought into this.

  2. This honestly has to be one of the most overly-complicated ways to get people to go downhill.

  3. Sorry to resurrect an old topic but I had the same problem with rotating pictures and might have a little easier way than using editors or paint. So posting here in case this helps anyone. So same photos, from same camera. I did my first TR and rotated a bunch of photos and it was perfect, no problem. But this time sorting pictures for my second TR I encountered the rotation problem and I couldn't work out why so I thought back to how I made the earlier TR. I think when you just rotate a photo manually by right clicking or just using ctrl+r or the rotate button it causes the error. You have to actually force Windows to re-save the photo for the forums to recognize the rotation properly. I know most people have been using paint or editors to get around the problem but it can be done just through windows photos, you just have to do the extra click to force the photos to save again for the forums, Windows just rotating them won't be recognized. This picture is straight from the camera. This one was from right clicking it and clicking 'rotate right'. No re-saving the photo It looks fine in the folder and on my screen but on the forum it instead has been mirrored. Opening the original photo on windows, so the photos app, and clicking rotate gave same result, So did pressing ctrl+r. Both look fine in folder and on screen but flipped in the forums. Photo wasn't resaved. This time I remembered from my older TR's I was using the edit and create button on photos so I rotated and clicked using the save a copy button (or just clicking the littler arrow next to it and using save) and overwriting the file there. This time TPR recognizes the file and it's orientated correctly.

  4. Haha too true. And yeah, there are so many tunnels and tight clearances on Nemesis, the wider profile of the vest restraint trains would not fit in the current safety envelope. Today, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council have approved the issue of a certificate of lawfulness for the proposed retrack. This gives the green-light to proceed with the work.

  8. While perfectly plausible this could be for a few track sections on Kumba (I don't see it listed on the website as going down soon?), I also wouldn't discount this being for SeaWorld Orlando since they are quick ramping up construction. It could also be for something overseas since they are building a new B&M just about every day. Thanks for sharing!

  9. By staring at the back of their head? Unless it's a slow day, or they have someone controlling the amount of people in the station (hint: they won't), I would suggest that you all don't try to ride it all at the same time. People trying to group together is one of the main things that creates a line on this ride.

  10. ^ It looks like this is not a new slide but instead they just added some new tech to the existing slide.

  11. At least you will have a cool nickname for when it happens that you will never forget... THE REPTILIAN. Now that's all you're gonna think about. Better get seperate seats. Look what you got yourself into.

  12. Unfortunately, the Sunsphere is no longer free. They added some displays and now charge $5. Just an FYI.

  13. It totally matters! It’s a THEME park. Attitudes like yours allows the slide to start. I used to be so impressed that “good enough” did not seem acceptable for this fairly small regional park. It should be LESS acceptable as they move into the real of national destination. And to use some past examples… Mystery Mine effects haven’t worked in the right sequence (green snaking fuse, green lantern, explosion) in years, the spark fountains that actually told the story of “big Bertha” igniting on FireChaser worked sporadically the first season then never again, the prop burning fireworks have never been cleaned of black soot (making it obvious the effect has happened over and over, lightning rod had had numerous tools ripped off of the queue work benches and never replaced… etc. the park is NOT as focused on the details as they once were, but I guess neither is Disney, so if that’s their new competition, then they are following right along.

  15. Looks steeper (and longer) than Yukon Striker’s post-MCBR drop… Not that that’s saying much Impressive considering the smaller stature of the ride in general. Should provide a good pop of air!

  16. Per Park President Jeffrey Siebert's twitter update, the Midcourse drop is now complete! so a big portion of this beast is complete, and only 21 more sections of track to install and they'll have full circuit! can't wait.

  18. This is a weird take, but I actually feel like if this park just went back to exactly the way that it was in 2015 it would be a better park. Much prettier, better food, better Mystery Mine, Slidewinder and no coaster that never works making you feel like you're missing out when you show up and it's closed 50% of the time. The only thing that I'd miss is Drop Line and a few infrastructure upgrades.

  21. I feel like the park gets slightly uglier every year and all you ever here is "But wait until it's done!". Between cutting down tons and tons of trees and not even always clearing them, Wildwood Grove (just... all of it), removing the theming elements and leaving an abandoned track piece on Mystery Mine and this it seems like they're much less focused on aesthetics and small details lately. I love the park, but it does seem like it's taken a few steps backward recently in that area.

  22. They are having a Halloween event for families with younger children. Far different then a Haunt event! VF eliminated the Haunt event! No more haunted houses or scare zones. Yes, the park will be open but only till like 8 or 9 on weekends but lets be real, most families will not stay, with young kids, till 9 pm. My prediction is that the park will be dead from 7 to 9 pm. 7 pm is when the park was just getting busy with Haunt.

  23. It really is baffling to me that Cedar Fair is killing the haunt events while knowing how wildly popular they are. I can't speak for them all, obviously, but 90% of Halloween events I've attended have had an absolutely obscene rise in popularity in the past decade. Just this past season I went to a haunt outside of Chicago (Hellsgate) in late September and the place was a zoo. It was around 40 degrees and the place was so packed that my VIP pass still had a 40-minute wait to get into the haunt. I'm not even going to bother going into details about how absurdly overcrowded Knott's was in mid-October. Long story short, eliminating a haunt event in favor of a child-friendly trick or treat event seems, well, dumb, but I also have no idea what kind of ROI the parks see from the events, either. For all I know it could be a negligible profit for a lot of upfront cost while a trick or treat event would cost substantially less to put up and bring in more profit in the end. That's all these businesses care about in the long run anyway; whatever makes more green in the end. Edit - If you're in Chicago during haunt season, get your ass to Hellsgate. It's phenomenal.

  24. Your job is to check restraints. You half-ass check and don't see that someone isn't secure. The rides safety system says something is wrong. What would you do, figure out what you did wrong, or send it? I think ignoring the safety warnings and sending someone to their death is "acting significantly different than most people would under similar circumstances." That's all I'm trying to say. You can tell me I "don't understand" all you want, but that doesn't mean this makes sense.

  25. "Failure to ensure proper utilization of the passenger restraint system or seatbelts, and A lack of understanding and resolution of the alarm conditions on the control panel." I just don't understand. If not checking a child's restraint, and ignoring safety alarms do not qualify as criminal negligence. What the heck does? How do they describe, legally, what happened here? Just a "Whoopsie"? If they can't charge the kid operating the ride, why not the park? Aren't they responsible for their employees actions? Is it not negligence to hire the dummy who ignored safety protocols? Everytime I come back here I get more irritated by it.

  26. That's the trick though... There WAS an indicator that it wasn't properly secured. The ride system didn't allow a dispatch because not all of the restraints had cycled from closed to open. And a second operator also looked at the situation and didn't notice or deal with the situation correctly.

  27. I had to go back to the prior report. Sounded like she wasn't fastened correctly, or at all. I think speculation was that she was sitting on top of the belt (IE the ride was sent empty, and she hopped on the belt, which would have been locked in). If this were the case, the op would have checked the belt and saw it was clipped in (but not on). Isn't this still negligent? It may not have been on *purpose*.... But isn't that... Negligent? I'm so confused by this. Of course nothing will bring her back, but there has to be an explanation as to what happened.
