thrillrider
Revolution is looking great. However, for some odd reason I am going to miss the retro lighting in the station.
toughmudder
Wow - awesome update. She is really looking fine... So a couple of questions... I only make it to the park once every 5 years or so. I've been on Revolution a few times in my lifetime, so I apologize for not being an expert on it. As a poster mentioned a few posts back, one of my favorite parts of the coaster was the final helix that surrounded some sort of creek or falls. I'm assuming this is no more? I'm concluding that the water feature in the queue is not returning... but would that also include the water that occurs during the latter part of the ride? Is this portion of the ride tied to Valencia Falls, and is Valencia Falls no more, or is that still running? Lastly, when Revolution opened were there any trims on it? If not, what was the reason for adding them... and what is the reason they are keeping them? Old videos of the ride seem to indicate a "Mindbender" type extremely smooth, fast, fluid coaster. I guess I'm just wondering why trims were added when the layout was so great to begin with (if they indeed did not have trims at the beginning...) TM3988
I think if Tatsu was going to get a repaint, we'd be seeing it by now. I know it cost money, I know it's a huge job-- but it would have been awesome to see Tatsu get some love along with Revolution considering how much both rides dominate that plaza, and how fantastic it would look with Revolutions opening. Tatsu turns 10 years old in just a few months and hasn't seen repaint yet, correct? Thanks for the update! I can't wait to see how the queue and the station are going to look when everything is finished!
Password121
^Nitro turns 15 this April and is screaming for paint under the layers of rust I agree though it looks tacky to have rides look so crappy when not only are they your marquee attractions, but proudly displayed at the entrance plaza. The bright colors probably don't help with the look.
Eaanderson10
Looks nice!! I feel you guys with the water effects.. they always made the park feel a little nicer especially at night. living locally now I need to make some friends to enjoy the season with.. can't wait. I did have a conversation with a certain someone at WCB who said Tatsu is in the cards for a paint job, but that could mean next year or the year after that. The park unfortunately isn't alone in making that decision.

jedimaster1227
The new paint looks fantastic, but I think what excites me most about this project is the removal of the OSTR restraints. This ride has such a neat layout but the old restraints made it nearly impossible to fully enjoy. I really look forward to experiencing the New Revolution whenever I get back to Magic Mountain in the hopes that the work on this classic coaster will do its layout and history the justice it deserves. AirMBTB
New Revolution is looking great. I'm still beside myself they are actually doing this... the news of the decade in my book. Please Because the Honda Express isn't enough Now what would be a helpful Honda Express if the had a Honda that drove people up the mountain from the backside of the park. mattnz
Great to see the progress. Big kudos to Six Flags from me for putting in the effort to revamp a classic in need of some love. Will definitely re-visit Magic Mountain in the next year for a ride.
linearinduction
I'll just leave it at this: I consider it to be nitpicking because you are ASSUMING it's a cost cutting move when you actually have no idea it is. If you were the contractor and knew for a fact they decided to do this because it was the lower bid vs. keeping the existing set up, then you would have a point. You don't even know how the final landscape design will look, so it's a little premature to bash them at this point. "Drought resistant" landscaping can look fantastic or terrible and cheap. Wait until you see the final product before assuming. I'm also not trying to take anything away from their marketing plan. It works. Can't fault them. But if the discussion is going to be about them being cheap, it is worth noting that it is YEARS of being cheap that led to the ride needing a major refurbishment in the first place. Six Flags tried so hard to spin them not taking care of Revolution to the point where Tim Burkhart flat out lied about it being a state regulation as to the reason they couldn't modify the ride. Gotta love East Coast peeps who know nothing about what a severe drought is, until they start paying more for food from California, that is, if it there's water for irrigation left. I'm sure they think the Colorado River looks like the Mississippi River flowing into the Ocean, when it's dried up.

The perfect coaster for first timers, and Schwarzkopf freaks like me The most beautiful steel coaster ever built. Unless they change the braking profile, the ride will only end up being marginally better...because you're not bashed to hell anymore. But the trimming most certainly was not Anton's original design that people may have rightfully got excited about.
Zingoman
What trimming? Why does everyone act like this ride is trimmed to death?? It only trims twice and the only place it really affects the ride is from after the tunnel through the last helix. That is an absurdly slow ending to what was originally a very swift finale, but the whole ride is not trimmed.

This reads like something Charlie from It's Always Sunny would post. Moving on: As far as Revolution...why do they have to keep the trims? This day and age there's Twisted Colossus. Revolutions days are numbered even after this refurb. Sure I get block brakes, but let it run hog wild as it was meant to! Schwarzkopf would be TURNING IN HIS GRAAAAAAVE!!!! Apparently people still don't understand a decades old drought and/or watch PBS and/or know anything about rivers or the History of the West and it's water use. *Sigh* Haven't been on Revolution, but if it pulls as many Gs as Fire Dragon, I can understand why there are Trims, as it cuts down on worn congruent silicone wheels and stress on the wheel housings, which means less wear and tear and a longer service life. fatdaddy
Today, not only did Six Flags announce that they would be adding a Virtual Reality experience to many of it's coasters, but one of those coasters, New Revolution, had it's brand new trains revealed! Now, the trains are basically a copy of the original design with minor updates. OTSR's have been replaced with lap bars, yes there appears to be seatbelts, but it's a small compromise to get rid of the head banging over the shoulder restraints. Testing has begun and there will be an opportunity or season pass holders to join in a technical rehearsal starting the 26th, you will need to visit their website to be assigned a time, and space will be limited. They will run this for about a month or until all bugs are worked out of the new trains, depending on how well that goes, they will announce a date for its opening to the public. Eventually there will be two trains, no word on when that will happen. Now, VR goggles...very cool! Not just a simple movie in front of your face while you ride, but you are able to look up, down, side to side...everywhere! You also have the ability to shoot at targets...very cool. Okay, the goggles themselves are put on over your head and then strapped under your chin. There will be help putting these on in the station, so you will be outfitted and then sent to a seat. The little room in the station will now be a charging and storage room for the VR goggles. These were tested on Batman, because obviously New Revolution is not running yet, and they wanted to really test the safety of the goggles. So, if they didn't fly off on Batman, they won't likely fall off on New Revolution. The VR experience is completely optional and completely free...no upcharge! As to the obvious question of how sanitary these are, they will be wiped down and disinfected after each use, they have ordered tons of wipes specifically for this task. Not only that but there will be a lot of goggles, so they will have a surplus in order to keep them charged, clean and ready or riders. So, then there was food! Chop Six will be the new Chinese restaurant opening in the location of the old Panda Express. All food recipes were developed in house and I have to admit the food was awesome! All the classic Chinese dishes you would expect will be available, from orange chicken, to broccoli beef, and even egg rolls. They will also offer a vegetarian option featuring tofu, along with wonton tacos, and Asian donuts. There will be a preview event for season dining pass members on the 5th and 6th, if you have a dining pass go check it out. One last food item was the Berry whatever (can't remember the name) funnel cake, available for pass members when World Famous Funnel Cake Factory opens on the 12th. Very good, but I couldn't finish it because I was in a food coma following Chop Six. Anyway good stuff, go eat it! And, pictures... From a distance, not complete, but it's on the track and testing. The blue paint looks a little darker, nice! Landscaping here. Very clean looking trains. Towels to keep the seats from getting scratched during testing. Eagle goes here. Revolution got back! Or this is the back anyway. For the shins. Brakes! Do I spy seatbelts? Put cover on when done!! Done doing what, I have no idea. I think they were playing rock, paper, scissors. New Revolution, coming this spring! No, not that spring, spring like...nevermind. So awesome even the seat covers want rides. Just like your crazy uncle's toupee it has a chin strap. Okay, I got to say, it looks a little goofy sitting with goggles on looking all over the place at imaginary stuff only you can see, but I assume it'll be different onride. Ain't no Revolution like the New Revoluton, cause the New Revolution don't stop! Except at the end, and then they kick you off, but until then... Water wise! To put up a fence to keep me out, or to keep mother nature in...wait what? Okay, taking a break, still working, food coming up!
fatdaddy
And food, and some other junk, but mostly food... Lighting for the new signage, plus a facelift. Chop...SIX! Ha! I can't stop laughing, instead of "sticks" it's "six! OMG! Read it! Some custom woks. Woking is good exercise...HA! Broccoli beef and orange chicken, both very good. The bottom is tofu, which surprisingly was my favorite. The top is some sort of spicy chicken maybe, I don't remember, but it all was good. Rice and noodle, if i had to pick I'd go noodles, but why pick one, when I can eat both?! I don't think I got any of this because my plate was overlowing, but everything else was spot on, so I'm a little bummed I didn't try it. Party foul! You know who you are! Asian donut, tastes a lot like a churro if you concentrated it in to a ball of pure evil. Really I could only handle one, dispite the fact it was awesome! Okay, this is a special funnel cake for season pass holders that will be available when the World Famous Funnel Cake Factory opens. What's it called, um Berry something or other...okay I forgot. Just ask or it when it opens on the 12th. Rasberry, blueberry, cream cheese icing, red velvet, whipped cream...no, I still don't remember the name! This was just a sample by the way. Hey, I got an idea...paint it blue! Blue? Of course it's blue! Completely new lighting to really make that blue pop. New credit? And that's all I got, that and a stomach ache from too much food. Thanks for looking, leave a comment!

neil009
Of course it doesn't matter as long as they ride great but those new trains look really weird. Not at all what I would've expected. The headrests are so... tall. I wonder why they didn't go with the trains Super Dooper Looper got.
