PortAventura Discussion Thread

Did I understand this correctly: They dont know where this will be built? Either a stand alone venue or somehow attached to the Port Aventura Theme Park?

There is new information from Pafans about this (spanish)

http://www.pafans.com/actualidad/2014/portaventura-tendra-un-nuevo-parque-y-un-hotel-de-ferrari-en-2016-90438/

Este nuevo parque estará situado en el espacio del actual parking sur de PortAventura, y tendrá un tamaño similar a Costa Caribe Aquatic Park.

Translated: the park will be located in what is now the south parking of the park. The size will be similar of Costa Caribe Aquatic Park.

Ferrari's worlds first themed hotel. A luxury 5* hotel with 250 rooms, restaurants, shops, and with big areas of racing cars simulators. The new hotel will be located in an area between Hotel Caribe and PortAventura's Convention Centre, near to the road who gives access to Hotel PortAventura.

Surprising! There where some rumours about a big announcement yesterday... but this is totally unexpected!

They don't say anything about if it will be independt (as the water park is) or not. I would prefer it to be independent: Port Aventura is about new worlds, discovering, adventure, cultures... I wouldn't like it to be part of the park. It has no sense with the theming of exploring. That original idea has been a little bit forgotten with so many investors.

Great news, anyway!

I'm quite pleased that:

In a statement, Port Aventura ensures that among these attractions appear "the highest and most rapid vertical accelerator in Europe."

Now, I wonder (given that they ensure it will exist) how tall they're going for. The tallest one in Europe right now is Stealth which is only about 200 feet. But if the rendering is minimally accurate it should be more like KK or TTD due to the structure with those triangles. I can't wait!!!!

I'd be interested to see a version of the accelerator that is in the 300' spectrum. It might allow for the use of LSMs instead of a cable launch, and could prove to be a more efficient iteration of the ride. Either way, this combined with the newer lapbar design should be awesome! Really cool addition to an already epic park.

This looks fantastic! Especially with the drop tower on on the support structure. Any information on how high the Accelerator might be?

Now I know this might be really nerdy and I have now idea how accurate the rendering is but the tower has those triangular shaped supports like TTD and KK. I counted 8 triangles on TTD and eight plus something on KK

On this one I think I can count 7 but I'm not sure. If so, it should leave it slightly smaller than those two which would still be great (especially with intamin's new lapbars)

So excited that there will finally be enough to justify another TPR Spain Trip! We had a blast in 2007 and can't wait to take everyone there again once this is all confirmed!!

You can sign me up! I've been wanting to hit Spain ever since I read TPR's reports from that trip.

I go away for 1 day and you go crazy and announce something like this, wtf PA?

Seriously though, I'm looking forward to it. Looking at the images, personally I think the accelerator will be in the ball park of 350 - 400 foot. When is this looking to be completed by?

edit: nevermind, I read through the announcement a bit more thoroughly.

Based on where the new area will be built, I think it will be separate from the main park. The Hotel Port Aventura is directly in the way of the new area connecting to the main park.

Red: Ferrari Land

Yellow: Hotel Port Aventura

Blue: Hotel Caribe

Green: PortAventura's Convention Center

^So what will happen to the parking lot? Is that area not needed?

Based on the art, which is almost never accurate, there will still be parking left, outside of the red area in the pic. But I don't know anything about their parking needs. And there's a lot of open land in that area, maybe they will just add more parking somewhere else.

Because the southern carpark is PA's main carpark for the high season, I can't imagine it will be it's own separate area. I reckon they will try to incorporate some sort of transition into it from the Mediterranean part of the park.

Judging by the art, it looks like the hotel is going to be about here

Wow Port Aventura us breaking their own record that they just broke in 2012. I personally think Shambala will be better than an accelerator coaster but that will still be a good addition. This coaster will also make Port Aventura the coaster capital of Europe for sure. I can't wait for more details and the flat rides to be announced.

I mean, they can build and design what ever they want to connect it to the main park. I just don't see it happening though cause the hotel and Baco are in the way. They would have to make a path that cuts through the area between the hotel and Baco and enter the new area area the back. Which they can totally do, I dont don't think it will.

The other option would be to go around the other side of the hotel with a path, which seems easier.
