I must say food for them, and while it took a few weeks longer than they hoped it appears to have been done right the first time. More rides are sure to be on the way in the future. cal1br3tto
^The Scandia chain seems to love those rare bigger Milers, then. That mouse was one of the best newer ones I've ridden (the older Miler models being other favorites). Assuming they build it, I'll be sure to check it out next time I'm in the area. Mechanic
It would be kind of cool to have a real coaster, even if it's only a wild mouse, less than half an hour from home.
lake
Though a wild mouse, it'd be great to finally have a real roller coaster in Sac (has there ever been one?) Can't wait for it. Maybe next, we can get a real amusement park.
XYZ
Though a wild mouse, it'd be great to finally have a real roller coaster in Sac (has there ever been one?) Technically, Flying Dragon at Funderland is a real roller coaster, despite being a kiddie coaster. Though, I am happy that Sacramento is finally getting a good sized roller coaster. My only question is where Scandia plans on putting it. They don't exactly have acres to deal with being squished between 80, the motel 6, and the neighborhood. For me, it's about 2 hours, but still a new credit!
SharkTums
Some amazing photos and video coming out of Seaside Heights right now! From nj.com: SEASIDE PARK — A severe fire inside a Seaside Park ice cream building has already spread to two other buildings along the popular boardwalk on the Jersey Shore, police officials said. The blaze, which began at Kohr's Ice Cream near the boardwalk, was swept up by a strong southeast wind and jumped to adjacent structures around 2:30 p.m., according to Seaside Heights Police Chief Thomas Boyd. Firefighters fought the blaze as black smoke poured out of the popular shop, as seen in a video posted by the Jersey Shore Hurricane News on Facebook. Several firefighters and residents were being treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, according to Boyd, who did not know what caused the fire. The boardwalk underwent major repairs earlier this year after Hurricane Sandy destroyed most of it. Casino Pier was decimated by the storm, dragging a roller coaster through the collapsed pier and onto the beach As of 3:50 p.m., the blaze appeared to be spreading to additional buildings, and some evacuations were in progress near the fire scene. Officials with the Toms River Police Department, Ocean County Sheriff's Office, Seaside Heights Police and Seaside Park Fire Department are all on the scene, according to Toms River Police Chief Michael Mastronardy. Boyd said he couldn't comment further on the fire, citing the severity of the blaze. “We got everyone in the county coming," he said. "We're in trouble here. We've got major problems.” And here's more from CBS...explosions and 6 Alarm reported! SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ (CBS) – The pier is now being evacuated as firefighters battle a large blaze on the boardwalk in Seaside Park, NJ. The fire reportedly started at the Kohr Brothers at 1800 Boardwalk on the FunTown Amusement Pier around 2:15 p.m. It quickly reached five alarms before jumping to six shortly before 4 p.m. As of 3:20 p.m., explosions had been reported within the building and multiple units were being called in to the scene. A large plume of black smoke was visible in the sky over much of the boardwalk looking north towards the pier. Crews said they were having problems getting adequate water and with flying embers spreading the fire due to winds in the area. Some embers had blown as many as four blocks away. Earlier this year, the Federal Emergency Management Agency paid Seaside Heights $6.08 million for $8 million worth of repairs to the borough’s boardwalk following Superstorm Sandy. Seaside Heights officials also approved $14.1 million in emergency appropriations for repairs related to the storm. Before Sandy, the pier was 350 feet long. An estimated 60% of that was destroyed in the storm. Here they are cutting apart the boardwalk to create a fire line to stop it spreading to the newly re-built area. The fire is so big, the smoke plume is showing up on weather radar. Edited September 12, 2013 by robbalvey
arby
That is awful. Thankfully nobody appears to be seriously injured. I hope this doesn't prevent any long term recovery in that area.
Thunder_Run
Oh man, this is terrible to hear. I really hope this doesn't result in another New Jersey pier being lost to fire forever, that seems to have been a common fate for many of them over the years, like Long Branch's pier had burnt to a crisp back in the 1980's. Here's to hoping no one gets seriously injured during this chaos, and especially hoping that it just sticks to the pier.

Blatch
Man, this sucks for them, especially having come so quickly after Sandy. Here's hoping for an end to this fire and a (relatively) speedy recovery.
sspaz1000
My local news just said 6 alarms and that they are trying to cut apart the rebuilt part of the board walk to stop the flames from spreading to there. ETA: just said the 1800 block of the boardwalk in Seaside Park but is going around 8 blocks long and now near residential areas too. Funtown Pier is hard hit, but that hadn't reopened from Sandy had it? http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?section=news/local&id=9245840
