SharkTums Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 ^Ahh interesting. Well I hope an agreement can be made because it's a fantastic park upcharge. I hope to see more full zip lines in US parks and resorts.
ernierocker Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 ^I hope they can work out a deal as well. I am sure a ton of New Hotness trip members will want to do that especially with Wild Eagle's lift hill directly above the first station!
gisco Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I would expect them to work something out before the season begins. The lawsuit is just leverage so Dollywood just doesn't tell them to stick it. It does sound like there might be some merit to their claim if Dollywood did tell them not to operate last season. The only reason I can think of that they wouldn't settle is because the zip line company was losing their ass and this could be a way out for them.
Guy T. Koepp Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I thought I heard somewhere that because of the law suit ,Dollywood was was going to buy SkyZip outright and operate it themselves. I can not confirm that as it was just something I thought I heard. But remember, I have conversations with myself all the time that pertain to day to day things everywhere. So it could be something that I talked to myself about, and the other... ...uh... ...myself is writing this having believed... ...myself.
ernierocker Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 (edited) Took a quick trip down the park today to get some photos and of course some amazing, delicious cinnamon bread. Since I was there, I figured I snap some Wild Eagle photos for you guys so you can see the progress. Before I move on to the photos, I did find out some more information on Wild Eagle's trains. They are still on schedule and expected to arrive sometime in the last half of January. I would imagine testing will start shortly after that! As soon as testing begins, I will hopefully get some shots for you guys! Photos! Dollywood's Smoky Mountain Christmas is in its stretch run as we near the end of the 2011 season. And this is what the park looks like on the Wednesday before Christmas! Seriously guys, if you are in the area, try and make a trip before New Years. This is great time to visit the park! And like you needed an additional incentive to go to Dollywood... You can use your admission to upgrade to a 2012 season pass! This photo will be required in every Dollywood update from this point forward. -National Law Mystery Mine's barrel roll has some competition! The sky was gloomy but Wild Eagle still looks wonderful! This has to be one of the more photogenic lift hills out there! Let's take a look at the progress on Wild Eagle's station. They have moved the construction fence up closer to Wilderness Pass as they continue to transform this area into Wild Eagle's entrance plaza. The station is really looking fantastic! Love how they have blended in with the natural scenery! Here is an overview of what will be Wild Eagle's entrance plaza. Can't wait to see the finish product! This photo will hopefully give you more perspective as to where Wild Eagle is located in the park. That is Tennessee Tornado on the left. Speaking of Tennessee Tornado, how about some love for one of better Arrow loopers out there! And yes, coasters are running at Dollywood on December 21st! Let's not forget about Thunderhead and the future location of an Intamin Drop Tower in front of it. ( I wish!) I have found out what the secret ride for 2012 is! (as hinted in the recent video released by Dollywood) Dueling Porta-Johns! Coming in 2012! This has to be one of the more beautiful sights I have ever seen! Dollywood's Grist Mill and Wild Eagle's Immelman in one shot! And of course I can't tease you with the Grist Mill and not show you cinnamon bread! Is this the scariest photo I've ever taken?? Comment now and tell me! That's all folks! Edited December 22, 2011 by ernierocker
Bryce232 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 That immelman/Grist Mill shot may be more required than the Mystery Mine/Wild Eagle shot!
Meteornotes Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 That photo of you eating the cinnamon bread needs to be your new avatar. dt
Hockeyman55 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 This just in!!!!! Due to the risk of flying debris, Dueling Porta-Pottys will not "duel" and with be staggered and guests will experience a "high-speed chase between two porta-pottys"

speedmetal Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I always loved Dollywood this time of year. It always seemed like the park was cleared out just for us. I miss Dollywood being my home park.
gisco Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I skipped breakfast and I'm hungry now. Well I was until the last picture!
DougMJr Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I want that delicious bread! I would love to go to Dollywood during the winter months, looks like a blast. Wild Eagles station is looking really nice, perfect for that hillside.
disneymoc Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 Dollywood is one of my favorite parks that we make an annual trip to. nothing like it.
ernierocker Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 That photo of you eating the cinnamon bread needs to be your new avatar. dt I would but the quality of that photo kind of sucks and probably wouldn't translate very well as an avatar.
Philrad71 Posted December 22, 2011 Posted December 22, 2011 I vow to take the must pic of Mystery Mine and Wild Eagle and also vow to try the cinnamon rolls when we visit on the 28th. Amen.
slappybob Posted December 25, 2011 Posted December 25, 2011 This coaster is just absolutely beautiful !!! I cant wait to ride it when it opens By the way does anyone know what splash country is getting for 2012 ?
jynx242 Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Thanks for the photos! Wild Eagle is looking great...and seeing you eat that manna from heaven known as Cinnamon bread at Dollywood...I now officially hate you . I look forward to your future updates and would like to thank you in advance for them.
dragonskeep Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 The grass looks so good on the lift! It really does. I am looking forward to seeing if the ride exceeds my current expectations. Looks pretty as hell though.
Screamin_Eagle Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I Keep hearing from people when I mention that I am going to Dollywood next year, they always rave about the food there, so I am guessing its some good home style cooking like you would get at SDC in Missouri. from those of you that have been there, what do YOU think about the food?
ernierocker Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 what do YOU think about the food? It is one of the best theme parks in the country for food.
ginzo Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I am guessing its some good home style cooking like you would get at SDC in Missouri. Silver Dollar City and Dollywood have virtually identical food.

The food, like at SDC, is EPIC. We were referring to Dollywood as "Dollyfood" on our last trip there. I just ate my way through the park! :::drools:::
chriscJSU Posted December 28, 2011 Posted December 28, 2011 I am in Pigeon Forge this week on vacation and was wanting to know if anyone knew if all the roller coasters at Dollywood would operate in the current temps? I have been to SFOG sometimes where they would not operate the coasters in cooler temps.
