teacherkim
I was at the park on the 10th with a co-worker/friend. Two ladies in their 50's blowing off steam after having students back in our rooms for the first time in almost 7 months. To add to what Dan posted: I think they did a great job figuring out a way to do JL with the line and only one party per car, each person asked to use hand sanitizer right before the ride. The scare zones were kind of lame. More like scare shows, but as a teacher I give the park an absolute A for effort and attempting to keep some of that Halloween atmosphere. I think they did the best they could under the circumstances. They alternated shows on the Palace porch so they happened pretty frequently. Pretty much all rides were open except the obvious, water rides and carousel. A couple things like Superman and Colossus opened a couple hours after park open and Bugs closed at 8, a couple hours early. The only ride that stayed closed the whole time that shouldn't have been was Excalibur. We got awesome night rides on all 3 woodies. Screaming Eagle still running great after all these years. She is the grand dame of the park. About 40 min each from line entry to exit on Eagle and Thunder. Boss would have been easily an hour , but I had two skip the line passes and we used them there. Freeze on one train this night as well and I didn't hike up there to check but the line must have been atrocious. Mine train had an hour wait at one point but as soon as Bugs closed and the people with smaller kids left it dropped down to about 20 min. We didn't mind the crowds and wait times because we were just hanging out with no agenda and didn't really care about missing rides. Just enjoying NOT being in front of a computer. Used the mobile app to order food at JB's and it worked great! Would be happy to keep that feature after the virus that shall not be named. Also, instead of having set times for lunch and dinner they simply had it set that you had to wait 3 hours between the two meals, with snacks being available anytime. Finally! I have been waiting for them to do something like this with the food hours and have never understood why it isn't like this all the time. It totally helps spread out the food crowds instead of having rushes at certain times. Hope they keep this as well.

Disappointing - two switchbacks were in use so that wait had to have been hell. That's part of the themeing, man. Your pictures are great. Thanks for sharing. Danrarbc
Oh missed a little tidbit that really doesn't matter since we already know they're doing HITP. But the setup for that is underway. Meaningless, but I like seeing it anyway
prozach626
They're not wasting any time setting up. At least SFSTL isn't like the last KI Haunt I visited where they had the giant Christmas tree out front. (Am I allowed to say Christmas?)
ranelson38
I'm curious but does anybody know if Six Flags STL decorates their park for Halloween & Christmas in-house or do they contract with an outside company?
Danrarbc
My big question is how SFStL will do Christmas (yes you can say Christmas - there's no War on Christmas ™) shows. It looks like they're setting up for The Palace light show, and that's where they've been doing all entertainment this year. Maybe Old Glory will see its first butts in a year and a half? At some past FF they put lighted up tombstones or something like that along the back half of the run, wouldn't it be cool to have some Christmas trees lit up back there on a HITP nighttime run on Eagle. They should bring back the ghosts in the tunnel of MT for FF as well and/or Christmas trees in there.
prozach626
Maybe they can run Eagle and have white Christmas chaser lights on the lift and drop... They can forget to take them down and it will be like old times.

Other departments help out of course at times like maintenance, but about 95% is done by the Entertainment department, same as how all park décor and lighting for Fight Fest/Hallowfest is done in house as well. ranelson38
That is great to know! I assumed it would be under that category but I wasn't sure since it's more of a technical craft than performance. I'll try to do some more research under that category. Thank you @castaway_kid! Dan the Coaster Man
Was anyone at the park yesterday? I saw there were no reservations available, and I am going to the park next Saturday where its looking like all reservation times will be booked too. Just wondering how may rides will be possible. I was only at the park this Sunday and last Sunday. This Sunday was rain-limited and not representative (everything was a walk-on). But last Sunday was all booked up just like Saturday - lines moved pretty well. Batman and Freeze were the longer ones. Freeze is running two trains, but since each cycle only loads up to 10 people right now they've still got the low capacity sign out front. Justice League seems to be having a really rough time right now. I was on it during a shut down and actually got the lights-on escorted walk out of the attraction. And I hear it wasn't the only shutdown.

Dan the Coaster Man
^^ glad to hear lines are moving well! I am worried abut Freeze because I have not been on it and have a late entry time... how long of a line are we talking? Are they checking entry times? I got 3:45 and people I am planning to meet up with have 4:00 and 6:30. I emailed them to see if I can change the number of people in my group so that we can enter together. Either way, I'm out 2 hours 45 minutes right now, so can I slip in before my time? I am going Sunday too before I drive back home to grab a meal and a few rides. I got 1:45 for Sunday which isnt nearly as bad.

Six Flags is one of the best places to go after or during school for theater people. Six Flags St. Louis produces all shows and events in house. And when it comes to job security, remember, Six Flags St. Louis was just about the only place in the region this summer and now fall that actually has live entertainment. Are you majoring in the performance or technical side of entertainment?

Are you majoring in the performance or technical side of entertainment? I guess I didn't think about that, but you are right! Even the Fox and Muny didn't have shows this summer. I am majoring in Digital Media with an Art minor so I am definitely more interested in the technical side. I would love to take on projects both digital and physical! Helping decorate and fabricate decorative props is something I'm extremely interested in. The last 8 years I have done a huge Christmas lights display which is something I am extremely passionate about doing, so I feel that could translate well for the holidays at theme parks. Thankfully my family are wonderful hardworking elves so I don't have to install all 40,000 lights by myself.

Just a bit less than usual back by Boss and the Illinois section. Thank you, we do try
