^No one does, that is the funny part.

 

Kennywood has no set closing time. They close when a certain number of people have left the park. Normally it's ten but I have seen it as early as 6 and as late at 1.

^Then I can imagine a lot of people asking when it closes! Because if you think about it, no one has seen a "closing time" on a brochure or at the gate, etc.

 

But Kennywood looks fun

It's just a funny inside joke that has been going around the enthusiast community for years.

 

The two big questions are always what is Cedar Point building next year and when does Kennywood close.

 

And Kennywood is amazing, get there.

I walked out of Taco Tico today and said, "What wonderful weather for an amusement park! Oh wait. We don't have one!"

While at Panel for Riddler's one day, some young girl getting in the front row asked me,

"This ride doesn't go upside down, does it?"

 

I laughed a little because aside from the fact that the entire queue for the ride goes through the ride, you can see the vertical loop and second dive loop from the station.

 

I told her "only on the weekends" (it was thursday)

Her response: "Crap, I came on the wrong day"

Operating Hours: Kennywood gates open @ 10:30 am and rides begin to open @ 11 am. Closing times are determined daily, but closing is usually around 10 pm depending upon weather and crowd conditions. During Phantom Fright Nights, the park is open from 7 pm until 1 am. Kennywood does not have daytime operating hours during Phantom Fright Nights.

My friend started flipping out, saying "yah it's still at the park" and all of this other stuff. I said "it was removed in 2001, it's now called the Phantom's Revenge." He of course got mad at me.

So this isnt really gp, but a kid on the midwest trip last year as we are driving through a town on our way to indiana beach, said loud enough for the entire bus to hear. " wow is this an amish town" just as we pass a car dealership and a cell phone place. With out missing a beat i reply "yes shawn because all amish towns have a car dealership and cell phone store". Needless to say the entire bus was cracking up.

When I was at Heide Park. This kid said in german to his friends:

 

kid: Desert Race is the fastest coaster in the world

me: No it's not.

 

Than around an hour later. I saw the same kid and his friends by Collosos.

 

kid: Collossos is the largest wooden coaster in the world

me: No it's not.

 

I didn't even know him, but his group seems a little confused.

Talking to a technician/sales person at work while assembling a piece of equipment, we started talking about theme parks and Cedar Point. The tech mentioned about "The Blue Demon" which goes 300 something feet, goes about 90 mph (got that part right anyway) down a near vertical drop. My main assumption he was talking about was Millenneum Force as that fit closest to his description. I just kinda went along like I understood, as hard as it was to do so.

adding to this topic: this never happened to me, but one of my co-workers ended up with two parents who were absolutely mad as could be. Turns out that they were mad at him for telling their kids that they shouldn't have unbuckled their seat belts and moved seats while the ride was moving.... figured that he ended up getting a guest mad at him for enforcing a rule that is there for their very own safety.

Oasis is right next to Goliath's 35 ft. stone entrance....It's not easy to miss.

Yeah, when I worked on Millennium Force, I was sitting at the entrance one day (which is right next to the enormous Millennium Force sign) and somebody asked me what ride it was.

 

Also while sitting at the MF entrance, I had somebody come up to me and ask me if MF was "that one" (pointing to Top Thrill Dragster). If you've ever been to the park or seen the pictures, you know why that is so strange and funny.

 

Those were the times when I really had to refrain from giving the person a funny look and saying, "You're screwing with me, aren't you?"

^^ The huge stone "GOLIATH" wall is not easy to miss, I'll give you that. The fact that you walk - through - the center of the wall to enter the ride queue is perhaps not as evident as it may seem to someone entirely familiar with it. I'm guilty of having walked around the corner toward Colossus in search of the Goliath ride entrance. I then asked a park employee where the entrance was and they politely directed me to it.

 

I don't consider myself to be particularly stupid and I can understand why someone may have asked you how to enter the queue despite the fact that they were very near it. Being completely familiar with the layout of a park, some of the questions that people ask may seem stupid when in fact they are perfectly reasonable if asked by someone that does not share your familiarity with the immediate surroundings.

 

I would expect a park employee to offer the answer to the question that was asked, rather than make the paying customer feel awkward. If I had to guess, I'd imagine that your employer probably feels the same way.
