gerstlaueringvar Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 (edited) I was reading the most expensive coaster thread and doing some research about coaster price tags. When I found out Parrot Coaster is only 13 million plus the insane tax of China, I think it is a great deal for such a good coaster. Are there other coasters that you think have excellent values? Sportsdude360 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 The Veckoma Boomerang? I'm not sure how much they cost but they seem popular with the general public.
AllenA07 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Not sure that 13 million is that cheap of a deal. If I recall that's about the price of a Batman: The Ride. My understanding that RMC conversions aren't that bad, though you also need to consider the cost of the original ride in that figure.
DirkFunk Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 A really solid wood coaster can still be built for well under 10 million dollars. Wooden Warrior cost something like $2 million and it has a great reputation. The Chance/Morgan GT-X coasters are really a steal also for something like 7 million.
SharkTums Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Good thread! Â I agree about those Chance/Morgan new coasters. Really awesome rides for a decent price.
Rai Fox Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 White Lightning was $3.5 million, and stands with some of the best coasters around, IMO. GREAT deal for Funspot, and really put them on the map.

As to RMC, although outlaw run's price of 10 million may seem a bit for wooden coasters, it's an awesome ride (based on the reviews I've read) and should require less maintenance than "normal woodies" . With the conversions it's a bit harder to tell.
PVA62 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 What I think is crazy is what amazing deals some classic coasters are. At Kennywood they built the Jack Rabbit for $50,000, today that would be around $625K (Same with the Giant Dipper). Racer was $75,000, just a little under $1Million today. Pretty great investments. Â As for newer additions, I agree with the Chance/Morgan coasters. Lightning Run is really a fantastic coaster that was relatively cheap! I'm surprised more smaller parks haven't hopped on that bandwagon.
KarlaKoaster Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 I'm not a huge fan of what I have ridden so far, but Gerstlauer are good value and have made larger coasters accessible for smaller parks.
Hilltopper39 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 $4.6 million seems like a pretty good deal for Kentucky Rumbler. That really put that park on the map and I'm sure Beech Bend has made that back several times over since it opened.
RollerManic Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 The iron horse treatment is really good. Their stupidly popular with everyone, offer some pretty insane elements, and (because their steel) have little maintenance. If you factor in the cost of the original ride, it doesn't seem like a great value, but considering that you've ALREADY spent that money, and more would have gone into it if not for RMC, then it really is a great deal.
gerstlaueringvar Posted June 2, 2015 Author Posted June 2, 2015 What about El Toro? 12 million for the best wooden coaster in the world with great capacity. Seems like quite a good deal to me.
Superbatboy Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 What about El Toro? 12 million for the best wooden coaster in the world with great capacity. Seems like quite a good deal to me. Legend has it El Toro actually cost over $20 million, which makes sense because if it was $12 million... a lot more parks would've installed intamin woodies.
Superbatboy Posted June 2, 2015 Posted June 2, 2015 I think rides like Superman Ultimate Escape at SFDK are a great deal. You get a coaster with three launches per cycle and it takes up a small footprint. I think they run about $7-8 million  We'll see if more parks order the S&S 4D free spin. Another small, relatively inexpensive ride which takes up a small footprint. Early reviews suggests the ride is fun.
timetrial3141592 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 There's the GCI Big Fun that never happened... $3 million for everything, just build a path and hook it up to the mains. Â Other than that, I'm not sure. I-Box conversions are a good deal, but RMC are booked for the foreseeable future. I do agree with the Hyper-GTX sentiment, though.
theymitbgi Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 Not sure that 13 million is that cheap of a deal. If I recall that's about the price of a Batman: The Ride. My understanding that RMC conversions aren't that bad, though you also need to consider the cost of the original ride in that figure. Â Need to remember that B:TR was almost 20 years ago, take inflation and current steel prices would make that at least a $20 million dollar price tag.
K1ngdaKa88 Posted June 4, 2015 Posted June 4, 2015 I'd say this one: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]Because the whole ride cost only 3 million CHF, that is about 3,1 Million US$!! For what it offers, it is in my opinion a great deal!!
robbalvey Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 I'd have to think that an RMC conversion like Storm Chaser has to be a pretty good deal!
Comeagain? Posted December 9, 2015 Posted December 9, 2015 Well, it kinda fits the thread. Aftershock was around half a million for the ride and about $800,000 to disassemble, ship, and reassemble.
htomc42 Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 It's old, and it's small, but I've always enjoyed riding the old Chance Toboggan ride/coaster. Maybe its just those little cars.
DoinItForTheFame Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Gemini was only $3,400,000 when it was built in 1978. Given inflation that price would be $12,402,595.09 to build it in 2015. That seems very inexpensive for "two" coasters, and the size that the entire structure is. Also, most people seem to think that it is a really good ride.
Superbatboy Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 I find it interesting that FuII Throttle was listed as $6 million. Not sure if it's not accurate or if SFMM got an incredible deal. The ride has 2200ft of track, two trains, and two sets of LSMs. I know they saved a bit of dough on supports since the ride hugs the terrain and the top hat utilizes the vertical loop. But still seems like the ride would cost more than $6 million. Â Lightning Run turned out to be a great thrill for less money, $7 million and the ride ranks above many $20-30 million rides. Same goes for the Intamin and Mack mega lites. It's just disappointing that parks seems reluctant to install these types of rides. I guess they're not easy to market and low capacity for bigger parks, and maybe take up a bit too much land for smaller parks.
gerstlaueringvar Posted December 11, 2015 Author Posted December 11, 2015 ^ Well they spend a little bit more than $1,000 to theme it.
Physical Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 Bisch-Rocco flying scooters. From my (albeit limited) research, they were only a few thousand new.
Jew Posted December 11, 2015 Posted December 11, 2015 White Lightning @ Fun Spot seems like a great deal for them!
