bonsaiisuperstar Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I know the Son of Beast was a 3 minute car accident, but visually it was MASSIVE and awesome. I live six miles away and could see SOB from my home. It stands tall over the trees which are very old and tall in that area. It was the backdrop for the King's Island. Woodies just look menacing. Are there others out there that dominate the park's skyline?
cfc Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Mean Streak is also a very cool looking coaster that's, well, pretty bad. So pretty at night . . . yet so painful.
gerstlaueringvar Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Hades360! Looks so amazing with a great layout. Who would have thought it was really a under world trip?
Steveg1988 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Nitro at SFGAdv. There is a lake next to the park called Prospertown Lake. You can see the ride from it coming from the east on the county highway the park is situated on.
kailisun98 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 For me, B&M Dive machines are awesome. For woodies, GOLD STRIKER!!! Super twisty and it totally hauls ass through its course. GCI really outdid themselves on Goldie. Majestic enough??? Hell Yeah!! Is this twisty enough for you? More sexy curves on Gold Striker.
Woodie Warrior Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Even though it is hard to see any SDC coasters from outside the park since it is built on a mountain range, Outlaw Run is definitely awe inspiring in pictures. Also, seeing the train come through the barrel rolls from the queue is cool.
coasterbill Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I've got to go with Wood Coaster at Knight Valley.
djboss302 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 For me, The Legend at Holiday World is fun to look at
mike541x Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 No matter how bad Drachen Fire was, you have to admit it was one beautiful ride. I've always loved how this ride looked. Oh yeah so i305 is another awesome looking ride.
SFOGdude25 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Definitely going with The Voyage. The way it's first two hills ride off into the woods just looks mesmerizing. I compare it to rolling waves in the ocean. Just beautiful.
DougMJr Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Ravine Flyer 2's bridge is really awesome looking and is a nice arch in between Erie and Presque Isle State Park.
thrillrider Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 White cyclone at spaland. Got this picture from rcdb
Projektion Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Oh yeah so i305 is another awesome looking ride. I don't know what it is about I305, but whenever I see that lift, it makes it so hard to believe that ride is over 300ft for some reason.
djboss302 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Twister II is pretty to look at, but it just sucks from what I've heard
yay101 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 ^I'm surprised you didn't say Raptor!! Speaking of Cedar Point coasters, I think Mean Streak is a very awe inspiring coaster, even though it's a terrible ride. In addition, I think any B&M hypercoaster and GCI woodie is visually awe inspiring, both from ground level and above the ride! But I think I305 is by far the most beautiful roller coaster ever:
mightypotato Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 In terms of "awe and wonder", TTD and KK have always stood out to me. They're imposing and intimidating structures and then watching a train rocket up the tower is something that just makes your jaw drop.
booink Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 (edited) White cyclone at spaland. I totally agree with that one, it looks so massive ! Also I can't imagine the paint budget of that ride, they probably put more money on paint yearly than on other maintenance ! For my choices, Le Monstre at La Ronde is probably the most iconic ride of the park, and personally I think it looks cool : Even if I have never seen it myself, Lightning Racer : In fact, I think every GCI coaster is very photogenic ! ajfelice Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 While this may not be a particular coaster, the drive into Cedar Point on the causeway is visually stunning. If I were to credit a coaster, Millennium Force to me is what makes that skyline so stunning. That coaster looks so huge and dominating no matter what angle you look at it. GateKeeper guarding the entranceway is also another visually appealing coaster due to it's location. Another stunning place to look at coasters is Hersheypark. GCI makes beautiful coasters as it is, and having two (basically three) in one park just further displays how awesome GCI coasters are visually. However, I can't stop there with Hershey as they have the Skyrush pathway that gives absolutely awe inspiring views underneath Skyrush from along the waterway.
Mr Stratosphere Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Both Shivering Timbers and X2 come to mind.
screaminkid2005 Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Judge Roy Scream looked pretty impressive to me. =]
Projektion Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Dragon Khan, back in the day before Hurakan Condor and Shambhala were built. Given that Portaventura is built on a hill and Dragon Khan was built on the highest point, it just had a menacing appearence since it could be seen from so far away.
gisco Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Looking at everything posted so far, the wood coasters look more impressive then steel.
rcjp Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 ^Speaking of Dragon Khan, I think the combination of the two coasters now looks majestic.
