dippindotsguy8
Maybe this is a stupid question, but how is it even worth it for the park to be open on weekdays right now? Are they really getting enough customers to offset their operating costs? I went this afternoon and rode both Xcelerator and Silver Bullet at least 5 times without getting off (and I could have gone much longer if I wanted to). Literally everything was a walk-on. fpsphil
^ don't complain it's the best time of the year for us enthusiasts to get our ride fix in at Knotts
ernierocker
I think this is the first time I have seen someone complain because a park wasn't crowded enough. Wow.
Meteornotes
^Yeah, that's different. Trust me, you want to be there when it's "dead". Certainly cuts down on the line jumping, if nothing else. dt
haydn12
We love hitting Knott's at this time of year because it is so dead during the day. Our kids have semi year round schooling and have break the first 2 weeks of October. We will be hitting Knott's the first week. Hopefully, they don't have some busloads of kids show up like what happened 2 years ago. They were not staffed up to handle the extra 1000 kids in the park. Mechanic
^ Shouldn't they be aware of required staffing levels based on ticket sales? I would think that schools would go through group sales to purchase tickets.
Sir Clinksalot
Knott's has been open at this time every year for awhile, I'm pretty sure they've done the math.
dippindotsguy8
Oh wow, I'm so sorry that was taken as a complaint! I absolutely love going to the park during this part of the year because of how empty it is. I just can't figure out how they aren't operating at a loss. I'm glad Knott's is able to pull it off, unlike some of the other parks in the area. It was just a question, not a comment. My apologies
XYZ
I would only complain about having not enough people if every day is like a ghost town (hehe), more because the park might shut down one day. Though, Knott's isn't going anywhere anytime soon as it is the 2nd most profitable park in the CF chain. So be happy with less lines. UrbanLegend
Is there a particular reason Knott's is so profitable compared to the other parks, or is it just because it's located in a heavily populated area?
triggernel
Is there a particular reason Knott's is so profitable compared to the other parks, or is it just because it's located in a heavily populated area? Year round operations help. The Knotts hotel doesn't hurt either.
thestripedtaco
^ I would add that being kind of the hybrid park between Disneyland and Magic Mountain probably helps a bit for people like me who like good theming and good rides.

Doesn't really sound like a complaint here. I've always wondered how this park manages to stay open during the winter months. Seems like it's always a "Ghost Town" during the offseason. 1pizza14
It looks like Knott's MIGHT have posted a teaser on their facebook page. It is a video which seems to be mostly about 3 kids at the park who take a ride on Calico when they lose their camera. Sadly is not youtube so I can't embed it here, but this is the link to what I think is a teaser. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=520766651282805
coasterfreak101
That was really cool. I'm loving what they're doing this year to build up Haunt, even with how much I can't do any of this horror stuff. fpsphil
Was at the park today, perilous is all gone except one tower, montezuma op said scrambler going in perilous place, but I don't see them having removed it just for that ride. Park was all dead today, walk ons on every ride.
thestripedtaco
^ I could see Knott's putting in a few flat rides in Perilous Plunges place, including the scrambler. I am just not sure how they would integrate the bridge. The pool itself could have water effects installed to go along with the flats but I am not so sure what the bridge could be used for. disneyfan1313
^ See, I think Knott's is in a pretty good place right now with balance. I think they really need a good dark ride, perhaps 2 of them right now more than anything.
Jew
I would imagine that if they are putting scrambler in that location, it is only temporary. That ride has been moved around the park so much already!
COASTER FREAK 11
^Well, if they do build a coaster, it could be integrated into the area like it was when it was under Windjammer (or was that wipe-out?) no matter what ride, it can be integrated into the area even if its the coaster. Which also means it would probably be permanent as long as the coaster doesn't get removed, lol.
