rcdude
It would be great to see the scrambler make a return as the Boardwalk seems to have the smallest number of family rides out of the park's five areas. Putting it where Perilous Plunge was would pretty much return the ride to its original home (I believe it first operated there as Whirlpool). If they are getting a coaster, it could easily be built above and around the scrambler. If they're not getting a coaster, then it would be great to see a splash battle or similar in the lake and a couple flat rides on the land portion of that terrain (the scrambler and maybe a flyers and/or a compact thrill ride such as a Top Scan). Locostitch
Hmmm I wonder if this will be the next Windjammer.
thestripedtaco
The problem with this ride is it's an icon for the park now so if it had to be removed it would be a much bigger blow than windjammer. Although you could fit another flat in it's spot.
G-Force!
They should consider re-programming the tower to lower after instances like this if there is a way to do so. All the Windseekers are having similiar problems it seems. Edited September 20, 2012 by G-Force!
fpsphil
There should be some way for them to manually lower it easly. Or at least that feature needs to be added. I know they can do it manually on morning inspection.

thestripedtaco
^^ Yah you would think that by now a feature like that would have been devised. I wonder what causes these rides to keep getting stuck. It's not like Knott's gets much wind.

simaticable
A news station here in Atlanta has current video of the ride right now. That must be scary.
thestripedtaco
^ I bet it is pretty scary once you realize something is actually wrong but as long as you don't blow it out of proportion I think it is not really such a terrifying experience and horrible accident that the news makes it out to be. I know they are only doing their job but they really hype these things up.

adamico2
I don't understand how this could be headlining national news. Local news, sure, but national news!? Directly form NBC's news report: "There were no immediate reports of injuries, Luong said. Knotts Berry Farm is using its own maintenance crew to handle the malfunction. Orange County Fire Authority firefighters were not called to respond to the malfunctioning ride, OCFA Capt. Marc Stone said."

Wes
It plays into people's fears. That's the basics of it. Just like sensationalized news stories of invisible chemicals slowly poisoning your children. Fear sells.
jakeryan9
There were about 5 helicopters there around 6:30, they got it down between 7:00 to 8:00, not exactly sure when though. My mom officially hates me going on that ride now, but I told her it would be kinda cool to be stuck up there, just not for 3 hours.
