KBrylczyk Posted September 29, 2012 Posted September 29, 2012 Oh, I WISH Disneyland Paris looked like that earlier this year. If the park wasn't inundated with jackhole frenchies I may have enjoyed myself more. Don't get me wrong, DLP is absolutely gorgeous, but the place needs a serious operations overhaul. Oh, and Space Mountain needs to be completely torn to pieces and remade. Ouch.
Nrthwnd Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Oh, and Robb? I just got home from the tours today, and a blue Club TPR bag was a'waitin' for me! (Thanks!)
Meteornotes Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Great POV. Love that High Five element. The whole ride looks like a lot of fun. dt
SoCalCoasters Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Dear Holiday World... That really looks great! It's so cool to see such an interactive element built into a full scale coaster!
cfc Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 The "High Five" element is great--this is one insane ride.
robbalvey Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 Dear Holiday World... How about letting Holiday World get their TGG woodie running decent again before you go wishing them to have another one (or two)! Seriously, though, with everything that happened on Dueling Dragons at IOA, do you ever think you'll see one of these in America? I think we'd have a much better shot of seeing one build in Europe. Perhaps the guys from Grona Lund who own a few parks with lots of land should be looking at this video!
Moose Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 Agreed on the never in America. While it would be great I just dont see it happening with he combination of our lawsuits and jerks intentionally throwing of something. I'm so glad we got to ride it with it actually "dauling"! Thanks again for all your work getting the perks with these parks!
robbalvey Posted October 1, 2012 Author Posted October 1, 2012 I'm so glad we got to ride it with it actually "dauling"! Thanks again for all your work getting the perks with these parks! Same. As soon as it opened to the public, they only ran one side. From what I understand, they don't run both sides that often, so getting them to run both sides and "daul" at the same time is pretty rare.
Meteornotes Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 This will never happen in the US. Much like a Mega Lite. dt
gisco Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 yup, never in America. Stupid people would try to leave their lap bar up as far as possible so they could stretch for the High 5. Someone would eventually fall out and the family would sue everyone around.
A.J. Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 I think that Lightning Racer is probably the closest thing to Dauling (ugh...) Dragon that the United States will ever get. Imagine what Dauling Dragon would look like with string lights along its layout... If any park were to get a set of coasters with the high five element, it would probably be a smaller, more remote, more family-oriented park. As an example (nothing more), Knoebels doesn't seem to have any issues with guests throwing stuff on that section of Phoenix's lift hill that runs right next to the station. I think that it really all depends on the kinds of guests that come to the parks every day, and it seems like parks like Knoebels and Waldameer don't deal with the same sort of problems that Six Flags parks do. I'm probably wrong though.
Myself Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 If any park were to get a set of coasters with the high five element, it would probably be a smaller, more remote, more family-oriented park. Personally, I think this description fits Holiday World to a tee. Sure, they need to figure out Voyage and its Timberliners, but something like this ride would be epic to kick off a Valentine's Day section, and once they get the Timberliners cooperating, they hopefully wouldn't have a problem with something like this.
MrSum1_55 Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 ^Or Knoebels, since neither of their wood coasters have seatbelts, or air gates in the stations, I guess it may be possible. Although, I think waiting to see this element in the US will be like waiting for an Aquatrax or a Mega-Lite to be built.
robbalvey Posted October 2, 2012 Author Posted October 2, 2012 I like how just because Holiday World and Knoebel's has three wooden roller coasters each, people just assume that's all they are ever going to build.
Hilltopper39 Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 ^The only reason that I thought Knoebels was maybe a candidate for a High-5 coaster wasn't because of their collection of and tendency to build wooden coasters, but because they seem like one of the only parks in America that can get away with some more relaxed standards legally. How many rides are at Knoebels now that you would never see be able to operate at a Six Flags or similar chain park? If they can trust their guests to stand in a station without que gates and not throw themselves in the way of oncoming trains then maybe they can trust them to sit responsibly on a roller coaster? I don't know if Knoebels can finincially justify building a multi million dollar dual track multi train coaster, and I didn't ride the High-5 like you guys so I don't know how crazy it really was, but I would think if anywhere in America could get away with one without getting sued like crazy it would be Knoebels. How was the Wooden Coaster at Knight Valley? I haven't see very many "reviews" of that one yet, but the pictures you guys posted looked amazing.
cfc Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 ^I thought Knight Valley's new woodie was one of the better GCIs, with some surprising pops of airtime (and a beautiful setting).
gisco Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 I like how just because Holiday World and Knoebel's has three wooden roller coasters each, people just assume that's all they are ever going to build. They already have multiple high maintenance woodies to maintain, why not throw in another high maintanance coaster? Maybe Knoebels can build another Flying Turns and then we can High 5 on those?
Nrthwnd Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 The number of times we rode on the High-Five, it was apparent the ops weren't used to dispatching both trains at the same time. And it was just only a few of times (really!) that both trains actually 'hit their mark' and everybody was....opposite to everybody else, lol. The other times, one train was usually too far ahead of the other and only a few got lucky in their try at the High-5s. Still, they were great racing coasters and would be even more awesome if management would let them dispatch both trains, that way.

3Mutts Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 That Spinning wild mouse looks awful! Where is it located at and who made it?
gisco Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 ^I think the spinning mouse looks great! Awesome!
Nrthwnd Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 (edited) That Spinning wild mouse looks awful! Where is it located at and who made it? Actually, and for myself I must admit, that spinning coaster proved to be one of The Best I had ridden, thru the tour. Of course "apparently" I was one of the lucky ones who actually got several turns on the thing without really trying, lol! Would have ridden it again, if we weren't pressed for "credit whoring time" that day. ^ And Bob? Several of us were wishing (after riding it) that there were at least one or two of these at US/Canada parks, etc. It was a very unique spinner, we all admitted. Edited December 16, 2012 by Nrthwnd
xmichellex Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 "UFO rape machine" Also, that would be a good band name, haha...
