Hair Raiser is a great ride. I had heard bad things about before I rode but it really didn't disappoint. Yes, it had a very slight shake to it but overall I loved it and wouldn't go back to Hong Kong without making a trip to Ocean Park to reride it.

Exactly. Some who had ridden before us claimed that Hair Raiser was rough and rattly and that we would all hate it. But it turned out to be the best new B&M ride of the last couple of years.

I put these folks in the same category as those who claim Verbolten is "too rough."

Or that said OzIris was forceful and intense! lol

Yeah, well, I'm staying with my opinion. It's the worst (roughest) B&M ever!

Maybe it's because there were only 2 people on both my rides that it rattled like all hell broke loose. You all rode it with full trains, so that might keep the train better on the track, I don't know. The only thing I do know is that I had a serious headache afterwards. And it didn't matter front or back.

But it is strange hearing all this good things, since I rode it 1,5 weeks before you guys.

Why didn't you say that to begin with? That makes a bit more sense now.

It's pretty well known that most of the newer B&Ms rattle when the train is near-empty. I've had this EXACT same thing happen on B&Ms as old as Scream and as new as Diamondback.

While it may have been rougher for you, it's "potential" is pretty obvious that it's not. That's like saying "I didn't get as much airtime on Kawasemi because I was the only person in the train" which has also happened to me. Yes, it's true, but I wouldn't make a claim saying "Kawasemi has no airtime" or I'd at least say it as "I didn't get as much airtime on Kawasemi as I could have because I was the only person in the train."

I just find it very hard to believe that it was so rough that it gave you a "serious headache?" I mean, I know B&Ms can rattle when they are empty, and trust me, Scream can be pretty rough, but I've ridden it being the ONLY person on the train, and it wasn't that bad. Perhaps my level of tolerance is just higher? I dunno...

Seriously, I felt the train rattle *a tiny bit* during one of the elements, may have been the first drop, but nothing that would have led me to believe it was one of the roughest B&Ms out there...

I'd have to go with Iron Wolf (aka, Apocalypse) and Scream as the roughest B&Ms, at least in my experience. And I recall detecting a little "rattle" only on Hair Raiser's first drop.

Wow, that looks brilliant! How does it compare to the B&M Flyers in America?

I'd say it's better. It may not have the sprawling layouts of Tatsu or Manta (or the latter's theming), but it's a superior B&M Flyer.

Thanks for posting these two POVS-great job!

Both Starry Night Sky Scrapper Ripper, or whatever it's called and Hair Raiser look to be among the top tier of newer B&M coasters. I would love to see a US park get something like either one of these. Somewhere there were pics of floorless track being worked on at the track place, so who knows? Maybe it is for another US floorless with a unique layout.

Based on how the China B&M coasters seem to be more intense than some of the US installs, it will be interesting to see how the Wing Coaster at Ocean Kingdom rides in comparison, as it has a very interesting layout (I saw this on another forum and it matches the layout listed on RCDB):

RCDB Listing

Roller Coaster: unknown

Amusement Park: Ocean Kingdom (Zhuhai, Guangdong, China)

Classification: Roller Coaster

Type: Steel - Sit Down

Status: Under Construction opening 2013

Make / Model: Bolliger & Mabillard / Wing Coaster / Custom

Height: 164' 1"

Inversions: 3

Elements: Dive Loop

Zero-G Roll

In-Line Twist

(I love how it is one inch taller than Gatekeeper.....)

If that photo is the layout.....that is quite impressive.

Starry Sky Ripper looks amazing! Those first 3 inversions are insane, I'm sure that part of the ride is pretty disorientating!

On the topic of Hair Raiser being rough, I did notice a slight rattle when I was there, but I never received any head banging. I got a bit of a headache after my third ride, but that was likely due to the heat and me being dehydrated combined with the intensity of the ride rather than any roughness. Sorry if this was answered in previous posts, but how does Hair Raiser compare with the likes of Superman Krypton Coaster and Kraken in your opinion?

^ I like Kraken better, but I always thought that Superman was a little "floaty" for my tastes, but it's still a good ride. I'd probably put it either on par with Hair Raiser, or *slightly* below. I really do think that getting actual real airtime on a B&M took me by surprise! The first three inversions on Hair Raiser were decent, but after that it kind of slowed down. Still, a MUCH better B&M than most of everything else I've ridden by them in the past 5-7 years.

I would say it was pretty much *exactly* like X2, even though I know there are minor differences, the ride felt pretty much the same. Depending on what seat you were in, and if you were towards the front or the back of the train, depending on how much you were thrown around, etc...

For people who love these rides, this one is pretty much on par with all the others!

Amazing footage Robb, seriously the best footage I've seen of an S&S 4D. I still have no idea what these things really do but your video makes it a little bit clearer! Pretty crazy looking rode, glad to hear it's not nearly as brutal as the one at Fuji-Q.

I didn't have a chance to comment about it in the forums yet, but that B&M flyer looks incredible. I'm glad they finally built a "custom" flyer with some elements other than a pretzel loop and the flat spins. I think the Manta/Superman layout is a bit boring and feel like the flyer concept has a lot more potential, hopefully a crazy custom flyer gets built in America sometime soon.
