P. 512: Holiday World acquires Santa's Cottages resort

Based on today's clue, it may not be popular with coaster enthusiasts on what they're building:

"A growing number of passengers whisper concerns that we made a poor choice in joining this voyage. How do we help them find courage? - See more at: http://www.holidayworld.com/66days/#sthash.StEW6xFR.dpuf"

Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but that's my whole interpretation. Just like the year they were building up to the Mammoth announcement which turns out to be a bigger version of Wildebeest.

I interpreted this differently. I interpreted it as the ride is massive or intimidating, so the riders are doubting their decision to ride.

This seems more likely to me, especially because all along we've been assuming "the children" are us enthusiasts, and it doesn't say the children are having doubts. Plus, remember when she talked about having trouble staying upright, she also said "The children laugh and clap their hands." We will not be disappointed by this announcement. I agree that this whole site is mainly for the sake of enthusiasts and there's no way they'd bother going to all this trouble if it wasn't something big.

Also think the reference to the children could mean an RMC. Remember people saying how the RMCs were bothe very intense, however, families and *kids* could still ride them.

They'd also fit perfectly with HW, as they already have some great woodie a, but an RMC would definitely be a step up.

First Woodie with a splashdown maybe ? Might also break the inversion record, seeing as they have a reference to "trouble staying upright".

Finally, Maybe this will be the first launch woodie?. could the Mack truck mean that maybe this is a collaboration between manufacturers? RMC makes the track, and Mack helps with the launch?... Wouldn't surprise me, as RMC have partnered with other companies like Gherstlaur on previous projects like NTAG and I believe IRAT, until they got their own trains ready to go for OLR Goliath and Medusa. Maybe they'll tackle launches in a similar way?

^lol, some clues are more discrete than others, but I think you might have taken it a bit too far there. Also, there is a separate company named MACK produces a huge number of large trucks and construction vehicles.

Not that an RMC is a bad guess though.

I like today's clue:

When I look at the deck of the ship, I remind myself that this wood was once part of a towering tree. And I remind myself that we will one day see trees again when we reach the New World. - See more at: http://www.holidayworld.com/66days/#sthash.StEW6xFR.Sb38o2nW.dpuf

Keep in mind that the picture of the Mack truck was shared by a TPR member and not part of the 66daysatsea campaign.

And as Shavethewhales said, this is not the Mack we all love.

About today's clue, I think the important part is "this wood was once part of a towering tree". Maybe it will re-use parts of an existing attraction? If they hadn't scrapped PP, I'd thought they were going to add a full layout to it, like Divertical, or more.

I also thought about a RMC make-over, but the only one that could take the benefits of that is The Voyage. I don't think HW would agree to scrap their classics. But again, what about the new footers so?

They wont remake the Voyage, i dont think. Its still too popular as a wooden coaster. I could see them remaking the Legend into RMC. Its rougher and not as popular as the Raven and Voyage.

As much as I would love it to be I don't expect this is RMC unless RMC is going into steel coasters. Fact is the footings are not looking like they would be for anything but a steel coaster! But it's RMC so I( guess anything is possible! I honestly have no idea whats coming but I'm feeling more and more like whatever it is, it's gonna be BIG!

I would love a RMC topper track on Voyage as long as they didn't really change the layout because that layout is perfect! But I wouldn't cry if it was smoother!

Quick update on my trip to the park so far. Legend's second train is no where to be found and The Voyage has been down all day. It appears they're replacing some of the top running board going into the break run. Haven't really got to look at much construction so far. I'll have an update on that later.

Spent a great day at Holiday World on June 13 as part of an Indiana/ Ohio road trip. I hadn’t been since TPR’s 2010 Midwest trip. I loved the timing this time around with school still in and the weather being perfect compared to the suffocating heat of August, not to mention the crowds. It was basically park ERT with really only Raven, Wildebeest, Mammoth and the raft slides having lines throughout the day. Legend was closed for the day unfortunately.

I have a new appreciation for the park, which is a fantastic family park in every way. I personally love the focus on the water park as a water park fan, especially knowing how hot it gets over the summer. It was clearly the biggest draw last Friday,. The two water coasters really make the park even more unique, along with the coasters. Mammoth was insanely fun and has to be the best water attraction out there, bar none. It really catches you off guard since most of the ride is hidden from view. I really missed Pilgrim’s Plunge but I’m sure what they have cookin’ will be a perfect replacement and addition.

Raven was still a blast and Voyage was a walk on all day. After giving it multiple goes, I can completely understand now why Voyage is in many people’s top five, if not in first place. It is epic in so many ways from what I remembered in 2010. I can say that it really threw a wrench into my current top five and I’ll have to think about it all over again lol

The track work on Voyage must have done wonders since I remember not being able to ride it more than twice on account of it being exceptionally rough back in 2010. Hopefully it holds up well for the summer. My love of GG coasters is back in full force.

The new ride site looks really substantial. The top of Hyena Falls has a view of the entire site, or at least what looks like the entire site at this point. Lots of footers are poured or being prepped that looked like a lift hill. Yah, we were totally nerding out about what it could be before plunging down the waterslide, which was one of the more terrifying waterslides that I’ve been on. We had a sense that the Pilgrim’s Plunge water sections could be used for some part of the “maybe” coaster judging from the bird’s eye view. Really looking forward to seeing what it’ll end up being.

OK full mini report. I didn't get any pictures because I don't like to carry anything with me while I'm in the park. The Voyage was down all day, which was a bummer, but that seemed like the beginning of their woes for the day. The Legend was running one train and the second train was not even on the transfer track. While I was riding The Raven somebody accidentally backed into the e-stop button and caused a 20 min wait until a coaster cat could come reset the computer. As far as construction there were footers poured behind Hyena Falls and a ton of rebar on site. They've also dug a huge tunnel like pit next to Hyena Falls. Last but not least, the markers in the ground come all the way up to the sidewalk in front of PP. Overall it was a good day minus the coaster issues. Had a lot of fun!

^ when you start talking about footings, site work, rebar, and survey markers like that, it really makes my civil engineering mind happy I can't wait to get up there in a few weeks to see it for myself

The Voyage was down most of Tuesday as well, but they did get it going around 3PM. Looks like there was a brake sensor issue due to the trains often got stuck in the final brake run during testing. Was Wed. the day you visited the park?

^^ Yes. They were doing track work on the top running board in a few spots on the final turn yesterday. I was told by the ride attendent standing at the entrance that they had some track work to finish up and were hoping to open up later that day. They never took the trains out of storage, so I'm guessing that the issue was a lot harder to fix than they had thought.

I'll still read the clues, but I'm done putting any stock in them. They are too abstract, especially any possible clues in the pictures. The only consistency is water. I think we're better off putting more observation into the construction site.

The footers they have poured are huge. A steel coaster is the only ride that could call for those types of footers.

This photo was pulled from Facebook, but it's not mine and I unfortunately cannot give credit to it as I don't know who the original poster is (I found it on another coaster fan page and they obviously didn't state who took it either).

The quality isn't the greatest due to my crappy internet.

Just thought of something. The clues keep hinting towards "long time before _____________________" Could this mean the coaster will outdo Voyage for length? If so, it should be a good one! Most coasters created recently reach somewhere around 4,000 feet long (Banshee, Gatekeeper), so this would be at least 2,000 feet longer if my theory is true.
