SharkTums Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 ^^If there's anything we've learned from Six Flags and various other US Parks getting their new rides open it's become lucky to have a ride open for Memorial Day and pretty much a given having it open for July 4th. You'd think they'd want it open early in the season for Easter Break and stuff, but I wouldn't count on it.
DJeXeL Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 You'd think they'd want it open early in the season for Easter Break and stuff, but I wouldn't count on it. Makes too much sense so simply isn't going to happen.
medusa99 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I would have to say it will be running early to mid june.
Josh Linn Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I figured they'd be much further along in construction by now, but the snow storm today and the crapload the NY/NJ area got a few weeks ago didn't help matters at all.
medusa99 Posted January 12, 2011 Posted January 12, 2011 I used to work at the park and I am freinds with a lot of management of the park as well as maintenance. And also being a union worker I have freinds on the job that told me the job is low budget so that would be the reason why it looks behind. When ever it snows the parks landscape crew dose a good job at cleaning the park as well as all work areas, so snow really will not have a big effect.
DJeXeL Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 (edited) And they're off......... MOD EDIT: Photos removed. We need people to credit their photo sources and we need to be diligent about this. Thank you for your understanding. Edited January 14, 2011 by larrygator
MayTheGForceBeWithYou Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Good to see vertical progress beginning.
traincrossin Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Six Flags Great Adventure posted some new construction pictures of Green Lantern on their Facebook page yesterday. They're finally getting supports and track up! More supports are up! Cranes lifting up some track! Funstruction employees going up!
mightbeawannabe Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 Glad to see it's coming along nicely! I wonder what the GP will say about it, though..."Look! They repainted the Scream Machine!"
DiveMachine Posted January 15, 2011 Posted January 15, 2011 ^I don't think they will. Its in a different place, and most park goers can recognize Scream Machine. Although I'm sure they'll say "LOOK, Medusa's BACK!!! AND LOOK ITS GREEN!"
eltoro96 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Yay! I'm so excited about this (if you didn't already know)! I saw this pic on facebook and six flags hinted that the yellow piece is something important. Does anyone know anymore details on this?
SharkTums Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 ^Maybe they're planning on keeping the loop a different color ala Dominator at Kings Dominion?!
larrygator Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 ^^Oh noes - Green Lantern will have no control over the yellow section.
dante1001 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I'm in Philadelphia between April 8th and April 11th. As GADV is opening the 9th I was thinking of paying a visit. As it is opening day I'm a little worried it will be super insanely crowded?
traincrossin Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I'm thinking the yellow might have something to do with the ring? Random guess, i'm not a big comic book guy. ^I'm not sure what crowds are like at Great Adventure, but at Great America it's pretty dead.

YoshiFan Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 (edited) This year opening weekend is Scout Weekend so I expect it to be much more crowded than past opening weekends. Last year I also went on Scout Weekend (it was the last weekend in April) and to give an idea of how crowded it was, by 11, Batman's line was out of the tunnel and around 1:30 or 2:00, Skull Mountain had a line that looked to be at least 30 minutes. Even Scream Machine had a line out of the station and past the end of the stairs. Edited January 16, 2011 by YoshiFan
DarkStitch626 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Well keeping with the idea of "effects" as a possibility , and hearing that the construction staff have perhaps dubbed the yellow track "Parallax" Which was an enemy of the Green Lantern. Its possible it could be an effects zone.
DiveMachine Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 The park on the facebook page said that the yellow it will represent "Parallax", an enemy of Green Lantern. I was told that it would be for a corkscrew(s). I actually think this is really cool.

MayTheGForceBeWithYou Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 ^^Weren't the corkscrews going to be silver?
DBru Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 ^I guess yellow paint was extra cheap at Home Depot.

redfoot12 Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 I don't see this thing getting up and running by opening weekend.
