It's neither cheap, easy, or practical to dig a 100 foot deep tunnel. Apparently Roller Coaster Tycoon is catching on again.

Herschend was and is a different brand than Six Flags.   There is one certainty. Kentucky Kingdom will not be receiving a launched wooden roller coaster any time soon.

Yeah, I think the only 'concern' is because people see this park going more the way of Celebration City or Wild Adventures than becoming the next SDC or Dollywood.  I think it will stay pretty much th

I have been hearing rumors for weeks that Herschend was in talks to acquire the park and had heard executives had been spotted touring the park recently.  That map is pretty much a map of Herschend properties.  Except I can cannot account for an extra circle to the west.

That might be the Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Oklahoma, which was known as White Water under Herschend.

This is honestly quite the shock. I'm already thinking about how this park could change...

Remember when people said that about Wild Adventures?

I'm surprised, up until today I hadn't heard much talk about a sale. I thought the pandemic was hurting them, but not to the extent to where they can't afford to operate the park. I hope this is just some attraction and not a sale though, because the KK team has been able create something really unique, and it's been such an improvement since the Six Flags days. At least its not Six Flags buying the park again, but still, it's a shame to what was the greatest amusement park turnaround of the 2010s.

And Celebration City. Personally, I hope that this sale isn't true. I mean Herschend also operated Darien Lake and Elitch Gardens. The greatest thing to come to Darien Lake during their time was a Moose on the Loose and a super loop. The greatest thing to come to Elitch Gardens during their time was a used kiddie coaster, a waterslide, and a super loop. I just really don't see anything great coming out of Herschend operating Kentucky Kingdom. It would be GREAT to see massive, themed coasters and experiences like Dollywood or Silver Dollar City, but I see it being more likely that this park would become a second Wild Adventures: the first couple years would be great, but then a whole lot of nothing.

I feel like this tweet is alluding to a sale. At first I thought it was hinting at a roller coaster (which it may actually be), but the "emotional" part makes me wonder if it's a sale. Maybe the "emotional" part is referring to a change in ownership from a local company to a national one. Idk for sure, but it makes me wonder.

Also something I forgot to mention, there are nine emojis in the tweet, which may be linked to the fact that "Herschend" has 9 letters.

Isn't the land and rides actually owned by the State of Kentucky?

You would think if it was going to be sold, or if Herschend was going to take over the lease, then we would have heard about it by now. Also, why would the park need to tease the sale? Wouldn't they just announce it? A sale to Hershcend could explain the canceled raptor though.

I'm not saying its not happening, I'm just a little skeptical of the whole thing.

I thought that too. I was surprised that everyone was speculating a sale because I haven't seen a park get sold with this type of marketing. Traditionally they just announce the sale to the public, they don't release teasers and promos. The more I read into this whole thing, the less I think that Herschend is going to buy Kentucky Kingdom.

Kentucky Kingdom's Twitter is also notorious for joking around, teasing enthusiasts, posting memes, and more. Don't get me wrong, I seriously LOVE their account (it's hilarious), but I wouldn't take anything they tweet super seriously.

Or maybe Herschend really is buying the park and I'll end up eating my foot. It does seem like an odd thing to tease, though.

KK likes to troll coaster enthusiasts almost as much as I do, except they're a little less vulgar.

The latest Screamscape update from today is pretty interesting. If true, I hope Herschend takes care of the park and doesn't treat it like a bastard park but I don't have high hopes. I guess as long as Six Flags doesn't get control of the park I suppose a potential Herschend deal is better than the park folding.
