Kentucky Kingdom (SFKK, KK) Discussion Thread

P. 410: Discovery Meadow details revealed!

Recommended Posts

The Morgan track is rather large and bulky so it looks kind of weird with the small hills and sharp transitions. Looks really good though, hopefully it will ride well too!

I agree, the track really makes the transitions looks more awkward than they probably are. Given their track record with Phantom's Revenge, I think we can give Chance Morgan the benefit of the doubt and anticipate smooth transitions and good tracking by the trains.

I hope this coaster is as good as it looks. When I think of Chance Morgan I think of coasters that look impressive and end up being underwhelming but this one looks totally different that anything they've done before. I'm really optimistic that this is going to be a great ride.

^ I'll just say that one of the more recent coasters they had a hand in breaks that pattern and is anything but underwhelming - Phantom's Revenge. And that ride, chalked full of "bucking bronco" ejector air, is what gives me high hopes for Lightning Run. It's looking great so far, and I truly believe this coaster will be the surprise smash of the 2014 season! And kudos to KK for inroducing something different!

By the end of yesterday the track was up to the crest of the bunny hop following the overbank; the pace is really picking up now! Besides the the lift hill and the turn following the hill they are currently working on, the rest of the ride is quite low to the ground; this ride is going to be finished very soon. I was going to do an updated graphic later but the ride will probably be fully constructed!

I drove by today and it looks awesome! The park is so colorful now with the new slides, new paint on the wheel, and this! They are definitely not wanting the park to look anything like its former, loveable-but-rundown self. Lightning run also looks much bigger in person than it seems on the renderings/pictures thanks to all the other coasters and rides being relatively small. I also cant believe that the new body slide (which I have yet to see any construction on) will be significantly taller than any of the other coasters at the park. That will be terrifying.

Just one thing missing besides the coaster - all the rides up and running.

I'll bet it'd all look great on the outside with all the rides in operation and the screams of all the riders.

And even better, me taking another spin on the ROLLER SKATER as I take another ride around their rink.

It will be really refreshing to ride a coaster that purely simplistic in its design. No gimmicks, no big marketing ploys, no big stand-out elements. Just a quintessential modern roller coaster that has a good variety of elements that all string together to make a good, fun thrill ride. That to me is the best part of Lightning Run, at least on paper. It's coasters like this that I love to ride again and again, and I'm really looking forward to this one.

That second picture is so weird with the identically painted pirate ship (or frisbee?) right there next to Lightning Run.

It took me a minute to see the pirate ship.

I wonder why they painted them identically.

These pictures also highlight how unattractive the boundaries of this park are. I always thought most of the park was pretty, especially the old fair side and around lightning run, but the edges of the park could use some trees, fence work, and general sprucing up.
