goatdan
If the cable keeps breaking, why doesn't the park just switch to satellite already? Because then it wouldn't work in the rain! Wait a minute, this is Cedar Point we're talking about. Nothing works in the rain!
Carnage
Those were some lucky employees!~Matthew I wouldn't consider them lucky. I'm not scared of heights, and yet the idea of climbing out of those seats 300 feet in the air, and over onto a tiny trolley car would scare the crap out of me. FeelTheFORCE
Anyone know of exactly what was happening when it broke? I imagine we would have heard by now if it snapped while taking a loaded train up...but then again maybe not. I did a bit of research and came up with this... The lift cable on Millennium Force broke today during test runs, apparently stranding employees on the ride. Those were some lucky employees!~Matthew Posted September 2, 2001... CreditCrazy
This is horrible news...I'll be there in about 3 weeks and MF is the coaster I was looking forward to the most.
scooterdoug
F**king Intamins! First Storm Runner (which, thankfully, is now open), then Kingda Ka, now Millie, my favorite coaster. I'll be at CP next Wednesday and Thursday. So, I'm guessing that the chances of it being up and running in time for my visit will be roughly the same as the chances of me giving birth to an albino elephant. I am NOT a happy camper right now! Oh well, I guess that means I'll be spending my morning ERT whoring myself out to Maverick. Well, now that I say it, that's not such a bad thing -Doug
Thelegendarymatthew
^Well that just proves the reliability of Intamin coasters Anyways it sucks for anyone who is going in the next few weeks, luckily I'm going in a few months, so it should be up and running by then. I'm pretty sure I just jinxed it right there Oh well, I hope they get it fixed soon! You know so Cali and CreditCrazy can get there credits! -Matthew K. chemical_echo
Thankfully my annual CP trip isn't until HalloWeekends, so I'm not too worried about this. Does look pretty serious though.
PKI Jizzman
Millie usually has something happens every year or two and ends up being down for a few weeks. But right before Coastermania...ouch. What can ya do? Everything breaks down sometime.
atem122
Intamin has a fond hatred of strong cables don't they?...

Guest
Anyone think Intamin Coasters are.....Joining The Resistance! El Toro....No!!!!
CoasterLine
Ouch. Hopefully there isn't too much damage to the catch car or the track.
Emiroo
Oh man I didn't even consider track damage. If there is any kind of metal damage, it could be a while as Intamin will have to fabricate, ship and install a totally new piece...at 300 ft. And then there would be the testing and re-certification of the ride. But to their credit, they managed to do all that (at 50 ft) in about a week when they switched out the heartline roll on Maverick.
Homeboy23
I'm sure they are trying their best to get it back running before coaster mania.
DiSab
On that pic it doesn't look like there's any damage to the track, but that could change if the catch-car get caught in Lake Erie winds.
Speeddeamon128
That sucks. Good thing (at the same time bad thing ) that I don't plan on going to CP anytime soon. It looks like Intamin is making some big repairs this summer already with Kingda Ka & Millennium Force breaking down.
Emiroo
I wonder what kind of warranty comes on a $20M coaster...I'm sure it has long since expired. Seriously, I'd be curious to see the itemized figures on how much $$$ the upkeep on these coasters is.

You really can't tell if there is any damage from that far away... there could be structure cracks in the track pieces that the catch car jammed into while falling... it's all a guessing game on our part. You can't tell until you are up there and see.
RedB
As of last night there were already two cranes on site.
Calicoasters
I saw the cranes too from the webcam last night. That would be totally awesome if this ride was ready by next Friday! That would double the value of our trip
trl7391
Hopefully it will be fixed before June 14th. Never been there and I want to ride all the Biggies

That would double the value of our trip Are you coming for Coastermania? Could not tell from your posts, but if you are a member of a coaster club, you can attend and no preregistering is required. ERT for Coastermania is Friday night, sat morning, and sat. night.
Calicoasters
I will be there Friday, but I am not attending coastermania. When I told my girlfriend that the ride I was looking forward to riding the most broke down, she was hoping I meant Top Thrill Dragster. She is totally afraid to ride that thing... rawrtotheargh
^ Tell her I would be more nervous for Millennium. That drop feels like it is never going to end.
cycamps
Hopefully they are able to repair it quickly and efficiently. I'm not going until Labor Day, so I don't have many worries about it being closed, but I'd hate to see people go without riding it.
