the ghost Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I get the feeling this is NOT Elissa approved. Just a hunch. I really like Comet Express, as messed up as it is. The trains are cool and it just looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for posting this! That is an interesting claim, while Elissa hates spinning rides, she loves Intamin, so does she love it or hate it, Robb?
robbalvey Posted April 4, 2009 Author Posted April 4, 2009 ^ You'll find out when Coaster Expedition Volume 12 comes out! --Robb
DenDen Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 My favorite part of the video is then Robb's car turns backwards while the ride starts, and the expression of the locals in the station is priceless. You don't know if they're in amazement over the American with a camera, or because the seat turned, or both. It's like they were entertained so easily. LOL
Coasterbp Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Its hard to tell by the video, but is the spinning powered, or free spinning like most other spinning coasters....?
Guy T. Koepp Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Here's the same type of ride. (Different layout.) It's definitely not powered. http://rcdb.com/id1495.htm ASSTEROIDS! NOT HEMORRHOIDS! Guy "This ride looks crazy awesome!" Keep
gisco Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Its hard to tell by the video, but is the spinning powered, or free spinning like most other spinning coasters....? The cars are free spinning. THe more unbalanced your car the more you spin.
disneylanddork50 Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Wow.....that's CRAZY!!! And those trains look like the Haunted Mansion on Steriods.....
Garet Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 This just makes me more excited about going to Korea, hopefully queues won't be too bad considering I can only go when kids are not in school Rob
Buddy johnson Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Yes, The train is powered by a tire-drive system. I remember once Intamin called it a 'friction wheel' and you can obviously see pairs of tires in the middle of the track.
baekbal Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 It doesn't have big hills and drops it's mostly helix and turns but it is faster than it looks. I've rode this several times, I think it's a fun ride. the theming of this coaster is very bizzare and fun..if you ride it with your friend it adds the excitement!
robbalvey Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 I've re-compressed a higher res and a 16x9 version of our PortAventura video. This is probably my favorite segment I've done for our recent DVDs (Vol 9, 10, 11). Not sure why, it just came out REALLY well. The song fits, the coaster footage was great, and I think it shows off what a TPR trip is like! Lots of fun, friends, and coasters! Enjoy! [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=portaventura_xw6s[/coastertube]ps. And don't forget, if you want to help keep TPR ad-free pick up a couple of our DVDs: http://www.themeparkreview.com/store/

packfanlv Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Great video. Thanks Robb! I actually have this DVD, but haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Perhaps I will do that this afternoon!

TPDave Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 ^ You could buy the DVD? http://www.themeparkreview.com/store/index.php?productID=23
robbalvey Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 Cool Rob but can you send me a pov of dragon kahn as i want to put it on my phone? Sorry, dude, I'm not able to fulfill a personal request of sending a POV because if I did that I'd be doing nothing but emailing everyone POVs all day long! BUT, like Dave said above, Dragon Khan is available on Roller Coasters in the RAW Vol 2 which you can download to your iPhone/iPod/MP4 player from the TPR store here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/store/index.php?categoryID=10

SharkTums Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 ^^Ask your parents to buy it for you...it's a download. Last time I checked the UK had the internet!
Griffonluv Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Great Video Rob. This looked like a really fun park. As far as the rides go, how were they? I've heard that PortAventura is a bit run-down. Is this true?
robbalvey Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 ^ Run down? Not at all! PortAventura is one of the nicest parks in Europe. Did you watch the video? Did it look run down at all to you? --Robb
alilstronger Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 OMG these trips look like so much fun!!!! I really wish I had the money and the ability to take off work to go on one!!!!
