Purplepills
Good luck Robb! At least with Wii Fit, its now SLIGHTLY more fun to excercise.
cfc
Good luck, Robb. I know how easy it is to fall off the weight-loss wagon. One trick that seems to work for me is cutting back on carbs (dinner is just protein and vegetables now). Of course, I'm probably going to blow that this weekend when my old buddy Brian rolls into town. Looks like "frings" (onion rings and fries) at Cheeburger! Cheeburger! are on the agenda (followed by the new Bond flick).

TPDave
From his BMI and weight, he should be 1.79 metres tall. Thats approx 5' 11'' for the imperial readers Dave
FeelTheFORCE
Being an Exercise Science major, I think that's great that you are trying to have fun while getting healthy and losing weight. Great job so far and keep it up!
Mr. Volcano
Hey Robb, I hope this works out for you! 22lbs in 25 days is quite impressive, and hopefully the results can be just as good again this year. How well is Wii Fit working for you? I was hoping to get one sometime, just a matter of finding one and being able to afford it at the same time (maybe Christmas); until now I'll just have to stick to Wii Sports. I've actually been trying to lose a little weight here recently myself... most of my problem is when I'm doing so good I'll crave the food so much that I'll eat it, then keep eating it, so I guess I just need to eat in moderation more. I also have a problem with going out late with friends and eating. Good luck with the rest of your routines!
jaap
Best off luck to you robb. I am also on a diet right now, but a different diet...... I need to gain weight! My diet started 8 weeks ago, and I went from a BMI of 19,5 to 21. What is my diet? In morning for breakfast and in the evening before going to sleep, I take a shake wich contains a banana, a scoop of protein,2 scoops of weight gainer and a scoop of brinta (dutch kind of wheat product) and milk. During my diet I go to the gym 4 times a week to work out real intense. So most of the new weight is muscle mass and not fat. And you know what the best thing is: I feel GREAT! jelynch22
Hey Robb! Best of luck to you man! It's not an easy task to lose weight. I am actually starting my own journey to lose weight as well. Hope it all works out well for ya!
spacemtfan
I am also on a diet right now, but a different diet...... I need to gain weight! Me too! I seriously need to gain weight. I'm WAY too skinny for my age. (Was 112 lbs at 16, now I'm at 133 lbs at 17). I thought I would be heavier because of all the junk food I eat at school. Groteslurf
Good luck Robb. When you reach the longer hoola hoop session, you'll be sweating like a horse. I know I do when I do a few thousand swings in a row.
robbalvey
Here is the first update! I will say that I dropped a bit more weight that I though and I don't think this is the norm by ANY means. I didn't eat much yesterday mostly due to an INSANELY busy day at work (yes, even though I make video games it's actually a VERY stressful busy job.) I snacked on stuff like rice cakes and trail mix and then when I got home I took KidTums out to our local Japanese Teriyaki place at the mall and we shared a portion of steamed ride and soba noodles. Between the two of us we finshed half of it. I left feeling "satisfied" but not "full" which I think is a good thing. I also am back to my "no food after 7pm" rule which I do think helps. Jahan came over last night and we attempted to go to the gym but there were a ton of people there so we basically just took a walk around our area and probably walked for about 45 minutes straight. Now I'm one of those people who don't believe that walking is that great of a work out because after I'm done I don't *feel* like I've worked out, but I guess walking for 45 minutes is better than sitting at home on my butt for 45 minutes. I came home and played about 15 minutes fo Wii Fit and unlocked super Hoola Hoops! Yay!!! Anyway, on to today's stats! Today's weigh in - 256 Total weight loss - 4 pounds in 1 Day NOTE! I am putting each new update on the first post under "CURRENT UPDATE" so if you don't want to weed through the forum posts to get to the most recent update just click on the first post, then click that link! And today's final weigh in!!! ....but you're still fat! Yay! -4.0lbs! But like I said, I don't think that's the norm and I attribute it mostly to not eating much at all yesterday. (Thanks work!) There is me...still a fatty...but at least the BMI is going down! Are you sure you don't mean COLD shower??? Is it considered rude if I reply "NO!" ??? There's me on the left...what the hell are Elissa and Jahan doing?!?!?
RCFreak
You know the thing I hate the most about the Wii Fit is that I would do a body test, do a couple of quick excersies, then do the body test again and lose like 2 punds in like 15 minutes. I know it's normal to fluctuate druing the day that much, but I don't think 15 minutes is enough time. Unless I took a suprememly massive dump or something, which I didn't at the time. robbalvey
^ Well, the scale part of it has been totally accurate. It matches my weight loss/gain to my bathroom scale. But thanks to Wii Fit no hobbit feet photos this year! --Robb
rollin_n_coastin
Robb, that's awesome! I totally understand about the walking part. I think I may have been one of the only ones to gain weight on the trip in August, even with all the walking...go fig. I mean, I can see my weight gain progress in the series of pics that span the trip lol I can't even imagine the result if we didn't walk at all. The funniest thing, I'm sitting here thinking of a good excuse not to go to the gym tonight and I think I came up with a doozy. I had my flu shot today so my arm isn't ready. I don't know fi that's good enough though lol So kudos and keep it up!
Jojo19799
At my work we're doing our own version of The Biggest Losers. So far, I think we've lost a total of 330 pounds (as a group.) Our goal as a group is to lose 700+. On my first two weigh-in's, I lost a pound each week. Unfortunately I gained the weight that I lost back this week. I keep telling myself to get on the Wii Fit and start working out more, it just hasn't happened yet. I like to use the "I never have time during the week to work out" excuse. Good luck Robb, and everyone else as they head towards their personal goals!

coasterdude5
^ Haha! I might be wrong, that's just what my scale says. But I'm sure the people who made Wii Fit figured most of the systems would be on carpet. John "I love carpet..." Stevenson
airtimejunkie
Good luck on your diet but I am a bit concerned about the fact that you want to lose THAT much weight so quickly! About two months ago I started counting calories and have kept my limit to around 1800 calories per day or less. Since then I've lost around 16 lbs. I've gone from 254 to 238. At first the weight melted off but the weight loss gradually slowed to a crawl. Switching to non-caloric sodas (Hansen's Diet!!!!) and trying to keep aspartame out of my diet has seemed to help. I also actually look at the packaging of the things I eat to see what a real serving is. It is all about portion control. Anyhow, good luck to you and know that others are also trying to lose weight like yourself! There is power in numbers! Now, if I could just keep away from chocolate.... I have a class called "Walk for Life" where you have to walk two laps around the baseball field AND the football field. I don't lose any pounds! But nice progress you're making! Keep it up Robb! I've heard this from many other people but this has always been what's worked for me in the past. I've had both short term and long term goals and I've always been able to hit them. I got really lazy this year having over 70 park days on our tours with 3 meals a day included. I don't normally eat 2 full meals a day! So now I'm paying for it, and I'll learn to have better self control during next summers tours! A lot of people ask me about losing weight since I've done it quite a few times with both GREAT results and "so-so" results and I tell them "don't do what I tell you, do what works best for YOU!" --Robb
USCoaster
With regards to the Wii Fit scale and using it on carpet. I used it for a couple weeks without the foot extenders on and had problems with my weight shifting after an excercise. It was also saying I was 10 lbs lighter than the real scale so I kept it like that. When I finally got around to putting the foot extenders on, the readings became accurate and I was scolded by the talking balance board for gaining 10 lbs in 24 hours and had to explain myself. And to Robb. Good luck on your goal. I gave up on Wii Fit after a couple weeks because it drove me crazy. Too many menus to click through. Currently, the balance board is hiding under the couch waiting for Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party to come out next week.

disneygurlz2s
Thanks for the concern. I've heard this from many other people but this has always been what's worked for me in the past. I've had both short term and long term goals and I've always been able to hit them. Men have so much easier time doing this because their bodies will burn fat (and often they have less cravings) faster than women. The bad thing is that they gain it back faster too, once they "fall off the wagon" I have lost approximately 40 pounds in the past two years. My goal at the first of the year is to lose another 25 in 2009. Keep up the good work Robb! Shari
