People Jumping the Line / Queue

Recommended Posts

This topic reminds me of a fun experience at Busch Gardens Tampa from 1999. It was new years eve and it was around 3 in the afternoon. We got in line for their octopus ride. It was maybe a 3 ride wait. There was a group of 14 in line with a old couple behind them. All of a sudden, 2 people jumped over a fence to join the 14 people. The older couple decided to make a big deal about it. 20 minutes later, 16 people were kicked out and banned. Made the entire visit for me.

One that hits the top of my head on this subject was when I was waiting line for Grizzly at KD in 2004. We were near the top of the ramp, and this girl with a real bitchy attitude, as if she was more important then anyone in the line, literally shoved people hard out of her way.Three teenagers told her to get back and she just said "I've been waiting in the (insert swearing) sun for five minutes. I ain't waitin' no more. Screw ya'll". The funny thing is that the Queue is mostly in the woods. But anyways that started a fight. A few employees kindly told her to calm down, and she needed to go back before she gets kicked out. Of course she made matters worst when she butted in for the front seat and held on to the bars with the airgates and didn't move. Security had to pry her away. So sad to see a sixteen year old still acting like a spoiled brat.

The one that probably gets me even more than stupid line jumpers are those who finish their ride, and then slip back in the airgates for another 'free ride.' I watched it happen with some kids on Invertigo, after we finished our ride, the 2 kids across from us headed toward the airgates to get another ride. The ride operator kindly reminded them as though they were total idiots that the exit's on their right (was facing lifthill). My cousin also got seat robbed from these little kids on Drop Zone from these kids also doing re-rides. Now, where were these kids parents? Who in the right mind lets some mindless kids wander a theme park by themselves unsupervised?

Lastly, you gotta love the Flight Deck riders taking shortcuts to get back to the queue by climbing up the grassy hill instead of going around on the path. In that case, I pick up my pace so that they don't get in front of me.

this isn't that serious of a case nor is it very suprising. My entire 8th grade class of around 600 headed to Nickelodean universe at the Mall of America, on the last day of school. Me and my friends got our wristbands and sprinted to Spongebob Squarepants rock bottom plunge. We had probably a ten minute wait in front of us, keep in mind this was on a tuesday morning during the school year so the place was dead. There were so many people that jumped in line that we ended up waiting a little over a half an hour. It was to be expected, since school age kids are very immature and have no sence of manners.

Ok, get this... Last week I was in the line for Batwing and someone was smoking! That's right, smoking, in a packed line.

I was just about to say something to him but he was with a big group of 'large' guys and I'm not dumb...

You should have put it out in his frickin' eye with wreckless abandon. lol

Ahh line jumping. Some many rants, so little time.

All I know anymore is that don't allow much space between you and whatever fence or person you're waiting near. Some little kid or person will just walk right in...even if it's a few inches. Either that, or people will stand beside you hoping you're not paying attention, then shift forward and play innocent. If you're particular about your pesonal space like I am, it's irritating. I've asked people to back off if they're staniding right up behind me, let alone pushing against me. Sometimes, just to avoid a conflict, it was just easier to let the jerk go ahead. Let someone else call him or her out and fight over it. I'll still get my turn on the ride, so I'm not losing anything.

Still and all, people shouldn't act that way and really ought to be more respectful of others. Oh well. Not the world we live in anymore.

Once, in the Pirates line at DL, a couple started edging in front of my party. Then three little teenage girls did the same. I decided to say something, which was unfortunate, because they were just trying to get under the eaves; it had just started to rain. They ended up laughing at me, and I felt like a curmudgeon.

Moral of the story? I wait until we get up to the gates before I confront line cutters.

Well, at Boomerang Bay (KI), I was waiting for the Flowrider, and this group of about 12 mexicans all lined up right behind me. No problem right? Wrong. They were all wearing speedos, and one of their friends was standing towards the front of the flowrider, so they all figured it was perfectly okay to barge past. With a couple of them being rather large, it was unpleasant with how small the queue space was, and how they not only barged in front of about 25 other people, but how they didn't mind when they brushed against a bunch of us. Made me very angry.

I can only think of one line-jumping occasion that made me angry.

I was at SFMM for my first time, and I was in line for Tatsu at about 9:00, so the line was pretty dead. It was just at the entrance, but the switchbacks were chained off. So I was about halfway past the switchbacks, on the path next to them, when suddenly a group of about 3 ran though the switchbacks and jumped about halfway through the line. I didn't do anything because I was still shaking from my first ride on X2 at night, and I didn't want to deal with them.

I am not afraid to confront line jumpers but being an Ex Ride Op has something to help with it. I had it everyday. But just about everytime I go to ride RF2 someone trys sneaking past. I am a big guy so I just move in there way and they try pushing me out of the way and they get mad when they cant budge me. I just laugh at them the whole way through the rest of the line. These kind of situations just add to the fun of the day.

While in line for the front seat of the Bluestreak at CP a woman asked if she could go ahead of me so she can be on the same ride as her friends who are in the back of the train. I said NO and she just went off on me and my friend. We just stared and laughed the whole time. I love people.

I just hate line jumpers and I have seen quite a bit of it.

My favorite was at Disney's Hollywood Studios this summer when I was waiting for the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster in the single rider line. The line was probably 15 minutes long by that point and I was 5 people from getting on when a middle-aged Mexican starts pushing through the entire line saying "single-rider, single-rider". Shockingly, everyone stepped aside and let him go! Eventually he made it just a few people behind me when the Cast Member told him to leave the line. Of course he gave the Cast Member a blank look that he didn't understand English. Thankfully he got thrown out.

Many times I have seen kids jump in front of people (including me) while walking through a deserted queue. Because I am not running and they are, they feel entitled to pass me. If I refuse to move, they hop over the railings and just run way ahead of me.

Summer 07 at Busch Gardens there was a group of I dunno, probably 100 people from Brazil.

While in line for Gwazi (I know, wtf was I in line for this ride anyway?) about 30 of them cut straight to the front of the line to meet with the 20 that were already up there. Nobody else in line even seemed to care. Then here comes the rest of the group and I just put my arms across the queue and pretended like I didn't notice 50 people behind me trying to get through.

They didn't put up much of an argument though.

Another one was from this summer at Knotts in line for Pony Express (2 different times)

First time - bunch of kids jumped to the front, and their mom & dad tried to follow but I wouldn't let them pass so they complained to the ride ops I wouldn't let them through (they spoke almost no english)

Second time - Late in the day it was my turn to board, and as I was getting in my seat a little kid and her mother who had JUST gotten off the ride snuck back on in my spot. Now, there were other open seats I could sit in, but this pissed me off and I made a "scene" of it. Sadly the retarded ride ops didn't do a damn thing.

Oh well.

I was at GADV this year waiting for Rolling Thunder & 6 kids thought they could pass us to get to their friend. My friend Max put his leg in front of them blocking their path but the person they were trying to reach came up to us and made my friend let them pass. There were no ride opps near us to prevent the line jumping. I HATE the GP!

As a guest and worker at a park I've seen plenty of line cutting and every time it happens I become a crazy person, haha.

As far as personal experiences go I used to love attending Wild One at SFA because people would always cut in line by jumping under the switch backs. I'd promptly yell at them "Go back! I'm not going to let you ride, go back and try again." Of course the kids didn't take me serious so I would stand in front of them and continually tell them "I'm not going to let you ride, go back and wait in line." Eventually they got it and went back like I asked.

SFGADV is a pit when it comes to people cutting lines. El Toro is normally the worst. Every time I make it up there me and my group end up getting in yelling matches with a huge group trying to cut.

This summer while waiting in line for Flight of Fear at KD the line was pretty long and these random younger kids kept sneaking past us and getting by before anyone had a chance to react and stop them. Finally we get to point in the line by the UFO and we could see the group reponsible, another kid walked byabnd when he reached them I asked "HEY!!! IS ANYONE ELSE GOINGTO COME AND CUT IN LINE? I'd like to know now!" The lady starts off yelling at me "This is my son! He needs to wait with us!" So I inform her "you've been in line for 40 minutes without him, if you're so concerned why the hell didn't he get in line with you to begin with?!"

It was pretty hilarious, GP who act like such jerks like that annoy me beyond belief.

^That wasn't Canobie's story.

Sometimes NOT cutting in line lets you ride sooner.

My friend, his brother and I were approaching Invertigo at KI to find that most of the opening switchbacks were chained off. We slid under a chain to reduce the walking distance, but realized halfway across that there was a family of 4 taking the long way around, and had to have queued before us. Before we could back out, a group of all-that Hollister/Abercrombie teens had entered the queue behind us. So we continued across to the spot where our line joined back up with the queue...and stopped. The group behind us got really upset with us not moving into the wide open queue ahead, but had no way to get around three 17-19-year-old dudes. The family passes us with surprised smiles, and we chatted with them for the remainder of the wait about how we hated line cutting and weren't going to be hypocrites. At the airgates, the family let us go ahead of them so they could ride as a group and we could ride sooner. Not sure what happened to those kids behind us, but they never got ahead of us.

Last March, Jerry D (from here) and I were waiting in the queue at Goliath at SFMM. Those of you who have seen us know that both of us are big guys, and we can effectively block the Goliath queue if we feel the need to.

Two teenagers were playing the "Excuse me" line to blast their way through the line. They tried to do that with us. We asked them where they were going, and they were flabbergasted and went back to wherever they came from in the line.

Well I have a story from SFA.

Well when I was in line for Roar, there was a very little line. Then a big group full of people just moved up in front of the line. They wouldn't move and they were just standing thee. They wouldn't let me pass because they said they were waiting for a friend. 30 mins late they were still there. I got mad. When I called the op, guard. They said I wasn't aloud to cut the line. I was mad!

Hello,

Had a bad experience with line jumping at SFGADV. Has to be the worst park I've been to thus far for line jumpers. Just about every coaster I had kids and adults pushing ahead of me and others. I got fed up and actually had two teens removed from the line. Security was actually in the right place for once.

I've commented on similar threads before and even though I'm all for kicking out a jerk who thinks he/she shouldn't wait & just makes his/her way to the front of the line for NO good reason other then "I don't feel like waitin'", but the thought of getting out of the line for a sec to grab a drink while the rest of the party stays in line or a little kid in your party HAS to go the bathroom (I have two, so I know from experience) doesn't bother me much...especially if its just one or two people.

I think you guys are grabbing at straws & being a little too picky with that one. the last thread, I got rung out...with the same ol "you should ALL go to the bathroom/get your drink THEN get on line" etc. DO ANY OF YOU HAVE CHILDREN? I'll drill it into their heads if U gotta go, we go NOW...and have forced them to use the bathroom even if a drop comes out....and they'll STILL bust out with "I gotta poop" out of the blue....

Some of you guys are just ruthless....I don't see anything wrong with one parent & child joining their party that's already on the line...but I AM against a party of 10 joining ANOTHER party of 10 because they were all grabbing some beers with their buddies (which you see at HHN alot)! Now THAT'S just wrong. I have yet to have anyone complain when I join my wife & daughter in line after taking my son to the bathroom...and so HELP me if someone does...love to meet some of you "tough guys" on the line that day. And fact is...I WON'T get kicked out. I got TOO nice a face & too GOOD a disposition for it...so would LOVE to see U try.

Shoot, just this past Veteran's Day, a mother came back with her son from the bathroom on line for that Cloud Bouncer at Land of the Dragons whilst his siblings were still on line...the party was just in front of me...didn't bother me one bit. I don't see why it would bother YOu either.

Let the flaming begin.
