Tusenfryd Discussion Thread

I bet they also will improve loading time, since there are no seat belts I have never tried timberliner trains, but how do the lapbars compare to Rockit at Universal?

Honestly even though the lap bars are pretty big and heavy I have never really noticed them or had an issue with them. I think they are very comfortable.

^Same here, I rode Twister back in 2011 and all my memories from that ride is that it was awesome!

I guess the second train will be red, keeping with the original color scheme of one red and one green train.

Tusenfryd has posted a video (POV) of the first test run with Timberliners on their facebook page. For a first test run the speed looks very good all the way to the end. (Edit) Tusenfryd actually writes in the comments section that during testing it runs a little bit faster with the new trains. Sounds great!

Also worth noting that the trains have 12 rows, the same number as the old Vekoma trains. Since the timberliners doesnt have seat belt, it should be possible to increase capacity a little.

Yesterday I got to carry 165 lb test dummies into the seats of the new Timberliner trains at Thunder Coaster

Red train was parked in the lift so they could take the green one into maintenence.

It was awesome, then it got terrible. Then they started re-tracking and taking care of it and it was awesome again. Then it started to get rough again, and now they are re-tracking the worst parts and getting these trains so it probably gonna haul ass from now!

Well I guess that's not too out of the ordinary for a wooden.

I remember seeing it on some coaster show ages ago and was surprised since, especially for back then, you didn't expect to see a coaster in Scandinavia, and also thought it looked really damn awesome. I happen to have a love for all things Scandinavian, (my name isn't some corruption of Jared Leto but a Finnish Race Car driver) so guess not too shocking I wanna ride it

How is thundercoaster? It always looked pretty awesome, and I've heard the Vekoma woodens are actually not bad.

Honestly I didn't think the Vekoma trains were that bad but you could definitely tell where the ride had and hadn't been re tracked. I would think by the looks of it these new trains are lighter than the old Vekoma ones so that will help the track out a lot and the ride should run a hell of a lot better now.

I finally got to ride Thunder Coaster 2.0 with the new Timberliner trains today. The ride opened for the public at the same time as the park closed, so TusenFryd did let us get to ride it for a few laps before making us exit the park.

I did try it both in the very front and in the very back. It was to my surprise more intense in the front than in the back. The ride is insane now with the new trains. It runs like crazy.

Here you have some offride footage of the testing from earlier today and some few clips with guests riding

TusenFryd just started a partnership with GoPro.

Several attractions have gotten mounts for GoPro, so that you can mount your GoPro and making memories

The park will also let you borrow GoPro cameras for free.

Tusenfryd released a new webpage FamilieFryd, where you can upload pictures and videos of your day at TusenFryd for a chance to win a GoPro 4. You can also use the #familiefryd on Instagram and YouTube to participate. #familiefryd translate to FamilyJoy.

This video was made to promote GoPro use in the park(including POVs of Sky Coaster, Super Splash and the Log Flume, also including Offride shots of several other attractions):

Not been the best spring for Tusenfryd so far. Thundercoaster is still awaiting final completion with the new trains, SpinSpider has yet to open for the season as well due to the park having to wait for parts from supplier. Tusenfryd have not given any dates for when these two rides will be up and running. In additon Speed Monster has also been suffering from some downtime. Plenty of frustrating posts on their facebook page for the last month, which is understandable when you pay 400 NOK (50 USD) to get into the park and all three major headliners are down.

^Im surprised to hear about Thunder Coaster not being signed over with the new trains yet. Did Gravity Group do more work to the ride other than just the trains, for example a new control system? Speed Monster suffering downtime from my experience is no surprise

I have no idea, the sources are what Tusenfryd writes on facebook and on their website. I have not seen any details about Thundercoaster except what they're saying about "awaiting final completion from the supplier of the new trains".

Edit: Looking a bit more on facebook I see that Tusenfryd writes on May 6th that Thundercoaster is up and running. Don't know why it now has been closed for several weeks.

Just seen the post in this thread about the park installing Go Pro mounts on their coasters... GENIUS! Love this idea and how the park are encouraging people to film on rides by giving them a safe way to do so.

While this is a great thing, Norway is a country where this would work because people seem to have common sense out there. Here in the UK for example I couldnt see this working at all due to peoples immense stupidity at parks.

Today there was a serious accident at Tusenfryd. An 18 year old ride-op on SuperSplash, the parks Mack watercoaster, received serious injuries to one leg when he got his foot trapped between the platform and ride vehicle as the ride was dispatched. The ride was stopped, and he was helped by emergency personnel who was in the park as visitors.

The ride is currently closed, but the park remains open. Hopefully the unfortunate ride-op will make a full recovery.
