U2Rox
Just gotta say I was really impressed with Magic Mountain's Log Flume, Log Jammer! Unlike any other Log/Ride Flume I've ever been on, really..... WCT 09 was Amazing!!!
fatdaddy
Timber Mountain Log Ride at Knott's is still great among log flumes, and considering its one of the original log flumes, it holds up pretty well. I think the fact that it is enclosed, well themed, a little splashy, a little fast, and has some spooky dark parts, make up for the height of the drop. Still its great for kids, my son's 2 and he thinks its great.
tatertot3710
Here are all the ones I've ridden, from best to worst: 1. Splash Mountain (WDW) 2. Knoebels 3. Zoom Phloom (Morey's Piers) 4. Daredevil Falls (Dollywood) 5. Thunder Creek Mountain (Dorney) 6. Coal Cracker (Hershey) 7. Great Adventure 8. Dutch Wonderland 9. Casino Pier (Portable)
thrillrider
The best I have been on is splash mountain and knotts flume ride. The worst I have been on would be the log flume that was at geauga lake, or one of those portable log flumes they have set up at state fairs and carnivals. coasterbilly
Dudley Do-Rights Ripsaw Falls is the epitime of Log Flumes, it's heavily themed, you get drenched, and it's long. So far the worst for me is SFGAdv's, you go up a hill and do lots of zig zags forever...i mean FOREVER until the final hill that has a tiny splash where you barely get wet, my homepark but definitely the most boring log flume, sorry GAdv
the ghost
IMO Splash Mountain Disneyland is the best log ride in the world. The theming and story telling is absolutely incredible, and the animatronics are better than Dudley, which makes it a better ride IMO. Also, I have gotten drenched riding it. The attention to detail on the mountain also set it slightly apart from Dudley because it fits so well in the area, and Dudley's just not as impressive looking. The drops are about the same IMO, just in a different order, and both rides are totally awesome. In fact, Dudley may even be slightly more fun because of the story and stuff, but I just really enjoy splash mountain. WDW's comes in third cause it felt more like a style of flume ride than the classic log flume feel. I also like the SFMM log jammer, and I really like Timber Mountain log ride, although I wish some of the animatronics were slightly refurbished, but for how old it is the ride is AWESOME! My least favorite is the portable fair ones.
Kooky
wondered that no one mentioned "Valhalla at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool". I`ve never ridden it, but what i heard it must be one of the best, with nice smoke, fire, water and ice effects ( i`ve heard they had a a snow room in the ride) and you really get wet... and the complete ride is very long, about 5 minutes i think. I am really looking forward to ride it one day. The Video shows some nice effect parts of the ride: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chL5lqfg-YA
the ghost
I dont think Valhalla counts cause its not a traditional log flume. For anyone whose ridden, isnt Valhalla supposedly one of the wettest rides in the world? I watched a descent pov and it does not look that wet. The drops were not huge or anything like that. rollin_n_coastin
Love these! Just the right amount of soaking on a hot day I think. Best - Loved the one at Lake Compounce at dusk through the trees....very creepy. Best soak - Liseberg log flume Craziest - The rats in a garbage dump log flume...I think it was Bon Bon Land? Least favorite - Clementon Lake, since it is in the lake and used the lake water. Having that splash in your mouth....not so much fun.
nhman93
Am I the only one who does not think it is fair to compare Splash Mountain and Ripsaw Falls to other logs flumes because they are in a league of their own kinda like "super flumes". But anyways I would have to say my favorite is The Log Flume at Seabreeze- that thing has a really steep drop for a log and give a coaster like sensation. The level of detail of those two attractions far exceeds most other attractions, and with that make the ride experience that much better.
sixflagsguy5
Besides the ones in Orlando, I really like the one at WOF. It's in the woods and because of the terrain difference you are actually 30ft+ off the ground at points during the ride. The one at SFSTL isn't bad either. oriolat
Best standard log flume would be Teufels Fasser at Holiday Park. 3 drops, one backwards and indoors. Best themed log flume: Rio Bravo at Parque Warner Madrid (that if all effects are working). Worst log flume: Any of the Reverchon models. They look cheap and tacky and the vehicles are uncomfortable. Troll
Havng ridden Valhalla, I cant see why it wouldn't count - It's a log flume like any other with 2 or 3 big drops. The only difference is that it is heavily themed and indoors. Because of this, I'd say Valhalla and Drayton Manor's Storm Force 10 are the best I've been on. As for the worst, I've enjoyed most of the ones I've ridden so don't really have a 'worst'.
tiger01
Best: Valhalla! Don't be fooled by the fact it is indoor. Its a Great Ride! Worst: Definately Yellow Mellow at PleasureWood hills! Urgh, So Bad! And they couldn't come up with a better name either.
Troll
^ I'm gonna have to agree with you on the worst one - I know it's my home park so I'm never gonna like it as much as I should, but it really isn't good
Hilltopper39
I remember Knobels's log flume to be really good. Others that I relly like are Daredevil Falls at Dollywood, and how about some love for Journey to Atlantis? one of the better flume ride drops out there although the theming of the ride and storyline has kinda fallen apart over the years. Valhalla is EXTREMELY WET! At the entrance there are overs that you can buy. I advise you buy one they are only £1. As I remember there is a sign that says... You Will Get Wet! You May Get Soaking Wet!!!!
palmerleeberry
Okay, my favorite log flume is the Shenandoah Log Flume located in Kings Dominion, maybe it's because I rode it a thousand times and it has a great layout (short drop, twisting and turning thorugh the woods, and a great big drop in the end). As for the least favorite log flume; well, I don't like any log flume that has only one hill (the one in Busch Gardens Europe is the exception). To me, a great log flume has a short hill to start off with, a big hill to end the ride, and a long and interesting layout between the hills. CreditCrazy
I love Disneyland's Splash Mountain...definitely my favorite. KBF's Timber Mountain is also great, and Perilous Plunge is awesome, but I won't count that... The worst is either Kings Island's Thornberry Flume, which is basically a short kiddie log ride, or Lagoon's Log Flume which consists of a few turns, small lift/drop, and then it's over. It's funny though, because the turns are hidden behind trees in a section of the park I hadn't seen yet, so I thought the ride did much more. 30 minutes plus a break down later, I realized how pointless it was. froggypheebs
I think the best log flumes not in Orlando are Zoom Phloom at Morey's Piers Thunder Creek Mountain at Dorney and one I haven't seen mentioned yet - Thunder River at Waldameer. I have a question above Jet Stream at SFMM. Is this basically just an older version of a flume using boats instead of 'logs'? I was told SFGAdv used to have one until a few years ago but I never knew it was there cause it was in the Looney Tunes Seaport kids section. I would have liked to ride it. AndCamSS
No one here has mentioned the Boat Chute at Lake Winnie yet (although it may not be a "flume" but still!). Has anyone been on it before? It is certainly not the best but it has the longest black tunnel ever on it! The lift and drop itself look homemade and thats probably because its been around since the 1920s! Here is a pic with the final splash and you can see the tunnel off to the side....
