mark549
Gold Striker has aged very poorly. I was shocked. It used to be my favorite GCI, but now it's down there among the worst ones (like Apocalypse or Wildcat). Now I would say that Wodan is my favorite GCI. It doesn't have the best layout, but it is by far the best maintained. My guess is wooden coasters hold up better in places where it rains in the summer (unlike California). Roar, Goldstriker, Apocalypse suggest a pattern. I don't know what the problem is with Hersheypark Wildcat, maybe it was just an early build and didn't work right. It's a shame, since GCI's racing coaster next to it is great. Maybe Hershey will RMC Wildcat. (RMC is also a verb, right?)
ryder
FWIW, Apocalypse has been retracked, and is currently riding quite well. Oddly, the first drop is the roughest part. But after that, it's actually pretty good.

PKI Jizzman
Railblazer seems like the most logical option to go to first, cool. Depending on how long the line is maybe I'll try to ride it twice. I'm really curious about Goldstriker now seeing how everyone is saying it's rough, haha. PKI Jizzman
Saturday is looking like rain alllllll day; between half and 3/4 inch of rain and 60*. I'm kind of expecting them to close at this point. IF they are open, do they typically run Goldstriker, Flight Deck, and Railblazer? The website wasn't much help. Thanks everyone! Really hoping I can go for an hour and check out those 3.

Is your name a derivative of jizzmaster zero?? It was 2009 pre Texas trip and Robb was on a live podcast. So when there was an opportunity to call in I called and (my original name was PKI ManJZ) when he asked who was calling and I said who it was he said "PKI who? Jizzman?" And boom that became the screen name. I think it ties to a Ron Jeremy movie. Anyways glad to know they're open, but what about in the rain! Post San Jose trip edit: Yeah the whole area got downpoured on and flooded the whole weekend. Next time!
rachelmadcow
I was thinking now that CF has purchased the land they can invest to install a giga and hyper. Gold striker and Railboazer felt like They didn’t want to add immovable or too large rides in case the land purchase fell through.
thrillseeker4552
Installing both a giga AND a hyper might be a little too ambitious to consider, however I do think a B&M hyper is very possible (and likely) in the next 5 years. Something along the lines of Mako or Candymonium would be perfect. The day the West Coast finally gets a B&M hyper will be a very happy day. CF might lead off with a giga since cali doesn’t have one (Superman is exempted for argument sake) and I think they could say it’s the tallest longest fastest full length in California. I’m not gonna check on rcdb but this seems right. Then follow up with a hyper. Either way one of them is guaranteed and that is awesome.
rolercstrluvr
Definitely a hyper in the near future, would use the backstage road for the lift hill and use the parking lot and use scream shields.
RAWKIN_coaster38
Speaking of CGA hyper, I heard a weird rumor yesterday. Take it with a grain of salt. My coworker's second job is at KI and he said he heard Orion was supposed to be CGA's hyper, but it ended up as KI's giga. According to my coworker, KI was originally supposed to get something much taller and more extreme. Honestly, I could easily see Orion fitting perfectly at CGA but it's underwhelming because it's at KI and we all know they *could* have gone more hardcore with it. That sounds like something someone made up for sh*its and giggles. Has there ever been anything like that happening before? Plus on the Orion website, its says, "Orion was exclusively designed for Kings Island by Switzerland-based Bolliger and Mabillard." Not "exclusively designed for CGA." RAWKIN_coaster38
Why would they say exclusively designed for CGA on their site, even it that was the case? Plus, technically adding the 13 feet or whatever to make the drop 300 means that it was exclusively designed for KI, even if the coaster was originally intended for CGA. I still think the timing of removing Vortex and completely clearing the land is weird. I can easily believe that the land was intended to make a longer giga and for some reason plans changed. Whether or not CGA had anything to do with the change of plans, who knows?
KIEnthusiast
Ok. Idk, I still think the story is a little fishy, but who knows?
WolfBobs
Rumors like this pop up often enough. The same thing was said about Valravn and CW. CP stole it! I would believe that the funding and cap-ex budget would change parks more so than the actual design was flat out cut, copied and pasted from one park or another. This isn't an old Vekoma Clone or an RMC Raptor clone. Most large investments like custom layout roller coasters are 2-5 year projects depending on scope, scale, and budget involved. RAWKIN_coaster38
Good point. I'm not sure if he meant that the exact layout of Orion was intended for CGA, or that CGA was intended to get a B&M hyper this year and instead the money went to KI for Orion. I'm thinking moreso the latter.
thrillseeker4552
It's the "Leviathan was originally intended for Knott's" rumor all over again! lol With that being said, I think Orion would have received MUCH more praise if it were at CGA! Yes, it would have. Orion plus Railblazer? You'd hear no complaints at CGA

Manic Monte
If people would say , “The capital originally intended for CGA was repurposed for KI instead”, that makes more sense. But saying a coaster went to park A instead of park B... there’s absolutely no way any of us could even know that, and seems far less likely.
rolercstrluvr
Just found out not too long ago the parks in our area can reopen but Santa Clara county is forcing them to stay shut. In other news, scbb might be the first to open under newsoms new guidelines.
joelwee
Santa Clara County is still in the orange tier, which means only small parks can open with a 25%/500-person capacity, so this does not include CGA.
