Carowinds Discussion Thread

P. 418: Camp Snoopy expansion announced including new family coaster

Recommended Posts

As of late with carowinds, you can't go by the teased theme. For intimidator "leaked" documents had the coaster named white lightin', with windseeker was teased to the wright brothers on the website...now we have a roman themes in a park based off the history and heritage of the Carolinas...yeah I don't buy it either.

Based on the blueprints that were leaked, I created a concept coaster of what it could possibly look like. I wasn't really sure what to put as the colors, but I thought a gold/maroon color looked cool.

Wow, you must have spent forever on that. Great job... if the coaster has transitions like that I'll be a happy camper.

Edit: Did I just say "happy camper"?

Everyone seems to be hoping for a black supports or track, but not me. With a ride of this size it'll only get painted every decade or more (ex: TTD and MF at Cedar Point), and black will fade and look worse 1000 times quicker than other colors.

That might be true, but I think a fully black coaster (yes, I mean black track and supports) would look great. Overall, I think my favourite combination is red track with black supports.

Guys so I was looking at screamscape and I saw that they had got pictures of the footers for the giga. The look of the footers and in the back round you see circular molds makes me feel like this is not a B&M. Nor do i feel like it is Intamin. After taking lots of time looking at multiple footer lay outs from various company's and comparing it to the blue prints, I have come to the conclusion that this will be a Mack rides. My reasoning is that while the blueprints have the looks of a B&M, after seeing the way they are forming the footers and the looks of the footers seem off. Also we all know that Mack is willing to go giga hight as Helix at Liseberg was originally designed as a 270 foot behemoth and concept art also showed a massive break run. With Mack's recent success with relatively cheaper costs and a more risk taking design team that has worked with cedar fair a lot recently I think a mack it will be. What would standout more to the GP a ride that looks like Intimidator or a completely different looking roller coaster. That's just my opinion, but I'm probably wrong.

My objection to about B&M was caused by the weird forms and footers they are using.

Interesting. I wonder why Cedar Fair would choose someone like mack over B&M as they have been building quite a few and they seem to be working fine. Maybe it's a cost thing? But then didn't someone mention that Hersheypark had both Mack and Intamin doing a layout for Skyrush and that the Mack one would be more expensive? I wouldn't have anything against it being a Mack (to see what they can do) but it sounds a bit odd that they would go for a company which hasn't even build a hyper yet.

Not sure exactly where you're seeing the round footers, but it doesn't make a difference anyway. The overall shape of the footer has absolutely nothing to do with the coaster manufacturer. Sure typically B&M users square, but depending on the soil composition and other variables they may have to be round. What will be really telling is what the top of the footer looks like.

Almost all footers are round once they are in the ground, including for B&M. The only square part usually is the topper, as it is very hard to easily make a 30 foot deep square hole, but a round one is easy
