  1. A few things were leaked then snatched off line but it looks like in the artwork Southern Star is not there because where it currently sits is the entry plaza and a very elaborate sign that says Aeronautical Landing. They have been aggressive with getting things down. Southern is pretty much dismantled along with Yo-yo, which is on a trailer bed. I'm guessing its gong t another park or has been sold off. I personally feel like Southern Star may come back in the boardwalk or in between the boardwalk/thrill zone areas. I could see it. They were very careful with dismantling it with leads me to think its not being scrapped. Also looks like she newness is coming to the CF Parks concerning season passes. Looks like you can either do a membership subscription style or the one time payment as well. https://www.carowinds.com/season-passes/prestige-passes/?fbclid=IwAR2p3s_V6E2ZOXDLVdAYRvhxc981eKCl9385S8j_lr2YTxlJBcUzry7rKYw
  2. This has been a thorn in my flesh since year 2 of them being installed in 2016. lol Zephyr's programming is so horrible. Its the shortest ride I have ever been on, on a wave swinger. Is def slower than the other and it literally struggles it just shoots straight up trying to gain speed while in the teeter totter position. As soon as it gets going it comes back down. Flat rise cycles at Carowinds have always been the downside. I know its for capacity and all but can we enjoy the ride we stood in line for. Electro Spin has been NEURTERED is very slow compared to Samurai at Lagoon and Shockwave at Canada's Wonderland. Knott's programming is tired so I didn't ride it when I visited. END OF RANT lol
  3. Well Afterburn is open during the winter months. As for hyper Intimidator has the longer trains. I’d say in normal Winterfest run it during the day but it has valleyed before during a cold Scarowinds night before. Fury has the shorter trains and yes goes way faster but I’ve been on it on a cold November day and it almost didn’t make it through the treble clef turn around. They closed after that for the remainder of the day. On top of all this non factor we all now Cedar Fair Christmas events are more so for foods, entertainment and family rides and atmosphere. Nothing new here
  4. Well it looks like only 3 parks are doing it. Knotts did a harvest version of it and will be doing a Christmas version as well. Of course we see Carowinds doing it and looks like Canada’s Wonderland maybe gearing up for it too.
  5. I would imagine like any other year around park would do it. It's not like the park has never been open during constructions. Chickies and Petes was in the middle of construction when the park reopened in 2015, 2016 County Fair was still getting rides put together from opening weekend all the way through early June, Copperhead started construction in summer 2018 went vertical during Winterfest in November. We the local people are use to by now . It honestly to me is good marketing to let people see in person stuff being built, gives them add reason to really come back now that they've seen said new attraction in progress with their on eyes on site

  8. I personally love top spins. I don’t see the reasoning at this point. All the US parks are pulling them meanwhile parks overseas that have them have refurbished them and they’re running like new. Cedar Fair Parks are literally becoming coaster parks with a kids section lol. Wait Voodoo at SixFlags Discovery Kingdom is still SBNO after almost 7 or 8 years now with overgrown weeds and vines all over it.
  9. Woodstock Express is getting some much needed love this off season. Carowinds may close for awkward reasons for some like high winds, staffing or low attendance but they definitely seem to take care of their rides. Photo Credit: Carowinds Fans Only
  10. I personally really wanted SFOG to get a freefly. It’ll be the only one in the southeast that’s for sure. However I’m happy with the much needed flat rides as well. A park can always use flats.
  11. Please note - I'm not singling you out here specifically... but... American's need to get passports, get passports early in life, and travel!!! I realize we're making progress. It's currently estimated that 42% of American's now have one up from 4% in 1990!!!! This is still far behind most other civilized countries though. This is factual! Got mine back in 2000 but do you need for Canada? I thought the new Real ID took place of that for travel with North America? Or am I wrong
  12. My God Hurler was flying yesterday. As you guys know they did some restacking and retracking and currently the trim brake is totally removed. The train whips around that first turn so fast. I actually got airtime thru the hills. I was shook
  13. ^ this actually across the board on all coasters. You can’t even have sunglasses on without a strap. They’ll make out your glasses and hats in a locker or station bin if available. Not matter if you turn your hat backwards or how secure it feels, in the bin it goes.
  14. Maybe they will either build a new rapids or log flume in Dinos area when they go extinct?...
  15. So this below was posted on Facebook by VHCoasters. So you guys think this would affect Cooperhead or any other Mack coaster for 2019 and recently built rides? Or is a China trying to pull something? Or is this article bogus? Some interesting if odd news from China as it seems large parts of the Mack built Blue Fire ride for Wanda Wuxi have had to be returned to Mack due to quality defects. "From October 2016 to January 2018, Wuxi Wanda City Investment Co., Ltd. imported a set of launched roller coaster tracks from Germany in six batches, valued at 2,382,300 euros. Wuxi Customs carried out safety performance inspection according to law and found that there are many problems of safety performance quality of linear defects in the local base metal of the track. After re-inspection and after treatment by German technology, it still found that there were many safety performance quality problems in the local base material of the track. Wuxi Customs determined that the quality of 124 tracks of the launched roller coaster was unqualified." While it explains the continuing absense of the ride from the contruction site in Wuxi it is a bit of an odd news story. http://www.yangtse.com/app/jiangsu/nanjing/2019-01-18/663815.html
  16. Awesome, thanks for posting. Looking forward to my annual May visit! Hmmm Water park looks to remain with the 6 or 5pm closing in August and Septemeber instead of the 7pm closings of yesteryears. Also no full week of operations during Winterfest this year, however looks like they will open at 4 instead of 5 on Sundays this season and the 2pm openings will remain on Saturdays. I'm cool with.
  17. Just to piggy back on why the park was crowded. Winterfest has actually lost quite a few days of operating due to the monsoon Charlotte has been in for at least a month. We've maybe had 3 total days of sunshine since the snow storm and on days that they attempted to open due to low crowds because of weather they closed at 7 or 8pm. So the day you went was the first no rain but overcast day and everybody flocked who had tickets from prior days that Carowinds allowed to let use on another operating day plus of course you SP holders as myself who basically live at Carowinds when the gate opens. Yes I was there that night as well and it was crazy.

  19. I'm sure most of us have seen it but just in case you didnt, look a this sexy thing here.... (from Carowinds Facebook page) Final piece of track should be set in place on 12/15/18.
  20. Scarowinds is hella packed the last weekends of October. Manage your time wisely. I'd say dont leave after datyime operations. Just chill in the parking lot or walk over to Moe's or the BBQ joint if you're hungry as. You will see that it gets very hectic when the scarowinds crowd start to arrive and park. Traffic is over the top and the parking lot gets full. The park is overcrowded and you will have to choose either to do rides or mazes and you may get to do 2 mazes or two rides in the 5hr time frame as lines are chaotic and very long. Just be there early to get in faster. FASTPASS PLUS WILL BE YOUR FRIEND for rides only and if considering the Frightpass will also be your friends for mazes.
  21. Link below if anyone cares to frop by the live webcam every now and again. https://pixelcaster.com/live/carowinds/https/cam1.html
  22. Yea the same goes even with the park opening at 10 to 5 day time.
